I'm British and when I see this I love to think of some American thinking it was going to be a crap show, then seeing it and then sitting there with his jaw open in shock
As an American who was born a few years after The Young Ones aired on MTV(1988, to be exact), i could only imagine what it would be like if other programming from the UK ended up stateside on that channel, such as "The Word", "Absolutely" or "Vic Reeves Big Night Out". in fact, i have a strong feeling that the final one could have made a strong enough fit on MTV and would have been able to attract the same immense cult following. Oh, how life could've been so different!!
I bet there are millions of us who would love to see them do just one more episode....I don't think an exploding double decker is going to stop The young ones.
This was back when MTV was still watchable. I used to tape the episodes, and what was great is MTV wouldn't edit the epsiodes like they do now whenever it airs on BBC America. Even the racist cop joke was unedited.
@squarebanana94 you're so right! Us English people come across as complete nobheads when we're in American TV programs! I'm so glad lots of American people love things like this though, this to me is 'proper British' :D
I am from The United States and I love British humor, I hate the US comedies stolen from the UK though. Like Shameless in The US is crap, and so is Top Gear in the US. I love British TV, wish the US would broadcast more British TV. I like watching the Ricky Gervais show with that Round Headed Bafoon.
I once read that the episodes were edited, on MTV; which parts got deleted? I personally would choose to omit the Alexei Sayle monologues, and most of the surreal cutaways. (I love the talking puppets, though.) It's infuriating when really good scenes (such as Rick's "wet dream" in Sick) get cut in syndication, in the UK.
Well, Yuppie is an acronym which stands for something like Young Urban Proffesional, but the Yuppies now are different from the Yuppies from the '80s. Yuppies today consist of: parents who want everthing on TV to be educational and everything in general to be family friendly, and also people who think they control everything and can tell everyone what to do.
@LionheartNh what? young ones the aftermath viv is a morticion neil is the head of a multi-million oil company mike is married with 3 kids and rik is still at college
MTV VERY briefly aired some very cool stuff in the late 80's - The Young Ones , of course , The Comic Strip (Birtplace of Bad News , STILL funnier than Spinal Tap.) , IRS's Cutting Edge , Andy Warhol's 15 Minutes , MTV's Closet Classics , and , Hell , even 120 Minutes GOT IT RIGHT , SOMETIMES , Tho' you don't want to know how long I thought that pretentious , self - absorbed host was Morrissey.

Vic Reeves started in Deptford, south London. That’s just near my house.
I'd rather watch reruns of The Young Ones than the crap MTV runs now.
And it should've aired on A&E.
me too.
I remember this. It was such a great show. Remember, there was no "Comedy Central." It was very popular.
The young ones are sooo great
It's a shame there all older now wish they done more episodes :-( x
With that brand of comedy, you can only go so far. I felt at least by Season two, they had reached their zenith.
I bet there are millions of us who would love to see them do just one more episode....I don't think an exploding double decker is going to stop The young ones.
I'm american and I love those shows and i love Rik Mayall ^_^

Wow, MTV used to be so cool!! Now it's a steaming pile of s***.
Starting with this.
I once read that the episodes were edited, on MTV; which parts got deleted? I personally would choose to omit the Alexei Sayle monologues, and most of the surreal cutaways. 11:30! My parents let me stay up that late on a school night?

Eighties yuppies were all ex-punks or ex-mods, I suspect.
wohooo ace of spades
before beavis and butt-head there were the young ones. except that instead they were an animated american duo they were a live action british quartet.

Too rock n roll for public tv? I've seen it on public television before.
Not all Americans misunderstand European TV shows. It's just the Yuppies who don't understand it.
ahh yes, when mtv was actually cool.
