One of the best opening scenes to any movie, ever! Classic song and animation! I'll always remember watching Grease back in "The good ol days". I don't know if it's my life or the times but when I reflect on this movie it makes me nostalgic. Simpler, safer and even happier times. This will always be a classic song and movie!
I would have been 12 years old when this came out in the summer of '78. Going into the 8th grade. This movie was magical to me. I remember walking to the theater to see it by myself from my grandmother's house and loving it so much I slunk down in my chair to see it a second time and about 40 minutes into the movie my mom coming in and dragging me out. I forgot about the animated intro. Love this song, too, and having Frankie Valli sing it was awesome!
Grease is and will always be the word !! I remember you watching this movie with my family at my grandma’s island house on Block Island, RI as a little girl - and yes my cousins, sister, and I could handle it though we were young ! my grandma was a teen in the 50s so it was even more interesting and fun to watch the movie with her because she would tell us even more about what it was like - I still remember it and I’m now 18 and my grandma is in her 80s , I wish we could watch again with her when COVID is over !!
I'am very sad because of the death of Olivia.... I don't know how many times I used to listen her grease'song when I was a little girl... thank you for having make me dream

8/22/2023. I'm a FedEx carrier, this song came on the radio station I was listening too today. So I turned it up. It put me in a good mood. Grease is definitely an Epic flick. 😎
At the time Grease came out in the theaters in 1978, I was 9 years old and being raised in an abusive, dysfunctional household. As a result, I turned towards watching LOTS of TV and went to the movies as a way of providing myself with escape and comfort from my misery. Back then I was going to the movies with my then best friend. We were a couple of fanatics about the movies. We talked, read, ate, drank, and slept the movies. And we went to the movies together once a week, every week for a lot of years from the 1970s-1980s. We saw literally hundreds upon hundreds of movies over the years. We tried to see every new movie that came out regardless of plot, genre (he loved horror films, I preferred comedy), critics reviews, who was starring in it, etc. So there was no particular reason we went to see Grease. It just happened to be a new movie that was just released. As much as I loved the moviegoing experience in itself, as an abused, neglected child, there were a small handful of movies that stood out and managed to hit me in the very right places at the very right time. Grease was one of those movies. Right from my very first viewing, it quickly became one of my all time favorite movies and remains that to this day. In the following years, I purchased the soundtrack album, the fotonovel, and whenever Grease popped up on tv, I'd drop everything to watch it. Today I own the movie on DVD. So, I say to the creators and the cast and crew of Grease, from the bottom of the heart of an abused boy, thank you all so very, very much.
Just watched it with my mother who went to watch it when it got released in theaters. A TV channel decided to put this movie on in honor of Olivia Newton-John. I enjoyed and she had a blast remembering those times while watching with me. And I couldn't but end smiling and paying my respects to Olivia. Thanks to her, and the acting of Travolta and the other actors, this movie became a timeless Masterpiece. God Bless Olivia (1948- 2022).
Un clásico, la encontré por 1era vez en 2007 cuando yo tenía 17 en esa época.. hoy tengo 33 años. La peli es de 1978. Un clásico y los hits también.!!! 😊😊😊😊
Absolutely one of my favorite songs ever. I knew it before, but I remember blasting it in a rental car on my way to St. Pete Beach, after I landed in Tampa airport, for a vacation. Now this song always reminds me of that night, 75 degrees, palm trees all around, the smell of the Florida air, and the blissful happiness of being free from work for 2 weeks. Just nostalgia at its finest.
My dad got me the Grease soundtrack on vinyl a few Christmases ago. There’s nothing like hearing the needle scratch and this opening song filling my apartment.
Everytime I watch this I think they did Rizzo dirty with that cartoon rendition of her 😂 I love this song though. I used to watch this movie everyday as a child.
I hope that people in the future look back at older films from the 70s 80s and 90s and appreciate the amount of intricate detail/attention to detail put into the film as a whole

Went to the movies with my wife and children to watch Grease again after some time, and we were both so happy to have made that choice. So much nostalgia came back to us, we were both almost the only one singing and swinging about, even when we left we were singing and swinging about. We had such a great time. This is a classical movie that'll remain the best forever!
I was about two years old when this movie came out. And now I’m 46 years old and I still love this song !!
QEPD

Brilliant song there's no end to Barry Gibbs's talents. Sung brilliantly by Frankie Valli. Brilliant movie as well
I solve my problems, and I see the light
We got a lovin' thing, we gotta feed it right
There ain't no danger we can go too far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
Grease is the word
They think our love is just a growing pain
Why don't they understand, it's just a crying shame
Their lips are lying, only real is real
We stop the fight right now, we got to be what we feel
Grease is the word
It's got groove, it's got meaning
Grease is the time, is the place, is the motion
Grease is the way we are feeling
We take the pressure, and we throw away
Conventionality belongs to yesterday
There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
Grease is the word
It's got groove, it's got a meaning
Grease is the time, is the place, is the motion
Now Grease is the way we are feeling
This is a life of illusion
Wrapped up in trouble (Trouble)
Laced with confusion
What are we doing here?
We take the pressure, and we throw away
Conventionality belongs to yesterday
There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believing now that we can be who we are (Be who we are)
Grease is the word
It's got groove, it's got meaning
Grease is the time, is the place, is the motion
Now Grease is the way we are feeling
Grease is the word, is the word that you heard
It's got a groove, it's got meaning (Got meaning)
Grease is the time, is the place, is the motion
Now Grease is the way we are feeling
Grease is the word
Is the word
Is the word
Is the word
Is the word

I WAS 18 YEARS OLD IN 1978 AND WENT TO SEE THIS MOVIE IN EAST LOS ANGELES!!!! IM 64 YEARS OLD NOW!! STILL LOVE THIS SONG!!
Wow, what a time to be alive! What do you remember about LA in the 70’s? Were your high school years like this?
The shot during the animation opening of Sandy (Oliva) at her vanity with Bambi and Thumper nuzzling up to her was brilliant beyond words! It tells the audience everything they need to know about the "too good to be true" loveliness of the new girl in school in an extremely funny and clever way.
I was 10 yrs old in 1978 ! I remember going to see grease in the summer of 78 ! At a drive in . In the late 70,s had some really good classics like this one ! I’m glad I got the chance to go see it .
I saw it when it first came out at a drive in too! I was eight.
You’re the same age as my dad.
😢 me da una nostalgia brutal... vi la pelicula de Grease cuando salio en el cine... cuando era un niño.. creci en esa epoca.. y cuando murio Olivia Newton John.... la llore como si fuese de mi familia.... hermosos recuerdos❤
R.I.P. Olivia Newton-John, you'll always be a legend
It objectively wasn't safer, crime was way higher back then. And then there's the whole racism, sexism, homophobia thing
Idk
The 70s had mad serial killers from the sounds of it

I would have been 12 years old when this came out in the summer of '78. Going into the 8th grade. This movie was magical to me. I remember walking to the theater to see it by myself from my grandmother's house and loving it so much I slunk down in my chair to see it a second time and about 40 minutes into the movie my mom coming in and dragging me out. I forgot about the animated intro. Love this song, too, and having Frankie Valli sing it was awesome!
RIP Olivia. You will always be remembered as the beautiful woman that you are. Shed tears on hearing the terribly sad news. We all love you.
I'm 32 now, but this movie and its music always takes me back to my nostalgic childhood days.
I was born 20 years after this was made and I love it! Easily one of the best music in a movie!!!
I was born only a year after and I couldn’t agree more
I was born 15 years after
I was born 4 years after and still love this movie. 😊
Grease has and always will be the word
R.I.P. Olivia Newton-John
As a kid… this was the best part of the film.
30 years old.
Still a Modern Greaser.
Saw this in 1998 and know all the songs.
Grease will always be the word.
I saw it in 2008 and I’ll be 30 next month
You killed the singer though Tony...
I'am very sad because of the death of Olivia.... I don't know how many times I used to listen her grease'song when I was a little girl... thank you for having make me dream
I was born in 92 so this was definitely before my time but I grew up watching this & it's still one of my favorite movies.
I’m a 93 baby and seen this movie 10 times. I discovered it when I was 15
1978 I was 13 years old I still love this movie 2022 I'm 57 years old still watching this movie with my Grandkids
I remember the first time I saw this movie. I went my gmas house and she was at the prom part, so I watched it from there till the end and then immediately watched it from the beginning. It's been my fav ever since!
Times were simpler back then. I miss those times.

8/22/2023. I'm a FedEx carrier, this song came on the radio station I was listening too today. So I turned it up. It put me in a good mood. Grease is definitely an Epic flick. 😎
Thanks for the delivers.
Thanks for sharing your memories... greetings...
Is always one of the best moment and experience when we can watched movies together with our parents, forever unforgettable memories !

What year was that? What do you remember most about the 70’s?
Rip Olivia... time turn everything to dust but memory... and you'll be remembered
Great words 👏
can't believe Sandy passed on.. God Bless Olivia Newton John.
