Few cool facts about this song.
It was written by Barry Gibb but he decided to have Frankie Valli sing it because he thought people were getting burnt out on his vocals after Saturday Night Fever and Frankie and Barry sing in the same range.
    Peter Frampton is playing guitar.
Frankie Valli didn’t even have a record deal when he sang this.
He signed with Warner’s and this song sold 8 million copies.

This probably makes me sound REALLY old haha, but I actually saw this film at the drive-in with my family as a young child back in the late 70s when it was a new release. This opening song and title sequence is one of the most potent memories I have of that great period in time and it takes me straight back there. I remember playing on the drive in playground before the film started in my pyjamas. We then went to the candy bar for a choc top before settling in to the movie. I also saw Star Wars at the same drive in! Going to the movies was a big deal back then. At the cinema, there was always a short feature and then an interval before the main feature. Everyone clapped and cheered at the end of the film. This clapping stopped around the mid 80s when video stores became prominent.

    LYRICS:
I solve my problems and I see the light
We gotta lovin' thing, we gotta feed it right
There ain't no danger we can go too far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
    Grease is the word
They think our love is just a growing pain
Why don't they understand? It's just a crying shame.
Their lips are lying, only real is real
We stop the fight right now we got to be what we feel
    Grease is the word
Grease is the word, is the word that you heard
It's got groove, it's got meaning
Grease is the time, is the place, is the motion
Grease is the way we are feeling
We take the pressure and we throw away

I wasn't even born when Grease was released. My parents were kids or teenagers when this movie was released. I was born in 1999 and I grew up watching this movie with my parents. My mom passed away back in 2014 due to cancer but I watch this movie all the time when it's on with my dad. We both went to see Grease the live Broadway musical/show together.

So much nostalgia came back to us, we were both almost the only one singing and swinging about, even when we left we were singing and swinging about. We had such a great time. At the time Grease came out in the theaters in 1978, I was 9 years old and being raised in an abusive, dysfunctional household. As a result, I turned towards watching LOTS of TV and went to the movies as a way of providing myself with escape and comfort from my misery.
Back then I was going to the movies with my then best friend. We were a couple of fanatics about the movies. We talked, read, ate, drank, and slept the movies. And we went to the movies together once a week, every week for a lot of years from the 1970s-1980s. We saw literally hundreds upon hundreds of movies over the years.
We tried to see every new movie that came out regardless of plot, genre (he loved horror films, I preferred comedy), critics reviews, who was starring in it, etc. So there was no particular reason we went to see Grease. It just happened to be a new movie that was just released.
As much as I loved the moviegoing experience in itself, as an abused, neglected child, there were a small handful of movies that stood out and managed to hit me in the very right places at the very right time. Grease was one of those movies. Right from my very first viewing, it quickly became one of my all time favorite movies and remains that to this day. In the following years, I purchased the soundtrack album, the fotonovel, and whenever Grease popped up on tv, I'd drop everything to watch it. Today I own the movie on DVD.
So, I say to the creators and the cast and crew of Grease, from the bottom of the heart of an abused boy, thank you all so very, very much.

Grew up in the 80’s and 90’s , went to raves, seen The Cure, INXS, the oils, rads, Angels but this song always takes me back to my born family being together and everyone being happy to sit and watch Grease. Even though we’d seen it over and over. Times were much simpler then.

This is the main brain, Vince Fontaine,
    beginning your day with the only way;
    Music, music, music!
Get outta bed, it's the first day of school.
Don't be a slob, don't get a job, go back to class,
    you can pass!
And to start the day off nice and fine, I'm gonna
play a new old favorite of mine.

She was 34 years old when this movie was filmed in 1977-78 and she was cast as a 17 year old high school girl. Stockard should just thank her lucky stars she wasn't cast as the lesbian PE teacher.

@ Olivia Newton was 30 years old too, Jamie Connelly was 31 years old too, and all the actors and actress was more big than the students of high school, so Stockard was amazing in the movie and so please don't be offensive 😌
