    Hmm, is it just me or does the UHMWPE stems make them slightly higher pitch than stock stem lubed?

      It all depends on the switch - sometimes they're lubed a little differently, too.. It's hard to tell when it's just a single switch like this - but I do personally think that the uhmwpe stems make the switches sound deeper on average.

    The voice / music balance to the switch sounds was a bit much!
    And holy cow the tangerines stock sound horrible in the think, but much better with adjustments

      Yeah sorry switched without caps are so silent! Haha. Stock alpaca are way better than stock tangerines, despite both being extremely smooth. Smoothness isn’t the only deciding factor I guess!

    Mmmm, nice video.
    Sad that there weren't any Creams to compare to, but looks like lubed Tangies V2 and Alpacas are my preferred sound over Inks.

      Thank you! I have a sound test w creams in an 8xmkII that I will put up soon. I borrowed my friends board to do some more science. Creams are really hard to find these days.
      And I agree. I think the inks have lost their huge lead in the linear game. The new options are just so good!

      I found that they make the sound of switches deeper when you put them in. Just be careful about overall cost of a switch. I do like the gat ink black with uhmwpe but that's just such an expensive combo..

    Thank god they extended the group buy by a few days, I didn't get them (I've blown over $200 hundred on switches these past 2 months alone on Novelkeys) and saw a video on these and decided to pull the trigger and ordered 90 of the light green (love heavy switches like gat ink blacks but been loving my milky yellows) so after finding this video I'm stocked to get them in June.

    Kinda sounds like slight stem post bottom out. Would be interesting to hear these with a sanded down post.

      @@AndyVNguyen on the tang. The stem post from swapped stems was hitting bottom housing from the shrap tinny bottoming out sound

    Is that on an alu plate? Imo tangies on an alu plate sound more thockier than tangies on a brass plate

    Do you think the UHMWPE Stems are worth putting in the alpacas? Is there a noticeable difference in feel/sound?

      I think Alpacas are smooth enough without UHMWPE. I'm starting to realize that UHMWPE messes with the sound signature of switches, so if they're already smooth.. I wouldn't put the stems in. I find that they mute the upstroke so much that it kind of kills that nice "clack," if that's something that you enjoy.

      @@JakeMMC only tangerines. the oa switch i just reviewed recently has an uhmwpe bottom so it's kind of similar, but it has a pc top instead of the uhmwpe top of tangerines.

    Have you tried Everglide linear switches? Could you compare them to Alpacas? Being that they're around the same price.

      I talked to my local guy who is a switch collector, and he said that Durocks are better.

      uhmwpe stems are inconsistent and mute the upstroke clack too much imo. but i'd put them on the tangerines between the two.

      Personally, I wouldn’t. The only switch hear that the uhmwpe make sound better are the gat inks. The stem in the alpaca and tangs are really nice stock to me, but it’s really just opinion in the end.

      I don't think they make smooth switches smoother, unfortunately. I just like the sound that they make. I think they make switches sound deeper.
      For something to be "worth it," they have to be a good value proposition.. and I don't think that they are.

      @@kevinlin8674 100% they are already so smooth and very little wiggle room between stem and housing. The UHMWPE stems are loose as hell, so those could maybe use lube. However adding it to stock stems you loose all finger feel even very light applications. Plus lubed switches have a much much much shorter lifespan

      All the lubed switches are the same smoothness when in a board. Between gat ink, tangerine, and alpaca, you can’t even hear scratch even when you put it in your ear.
      Gat yellow you can hear it in your ear but not really when it’s in the board. I’m not gonna buy a full board of tangerines. Gonna stick w my alpacas.

      @@AndyVNguyen How about the best out of the box linears out of these (smoothness, least wobble, plus other criteria a beginner would miss)? Picking a switch alone is already daunting. Let's leave modding/lubing for another time.

      @@onlinehandle2 Thanks for the question! The best stock linear would be the alpaca. It is smooth, sounds good, and the stem wobble is reasonable.
      The UHMWPE Tangerine is extremely smooth out of the box due to the material, but it is a very NOISY switch until modded.
      Gateron Yellows are a great budget switch but I would never use them stock.
      Gateron Ink Blacks shine when modded.

    different spots on a keyboard sound differently. this test doesnt really show a whole lot. you need to re test different switches on the same spot using the same keyboard, otherwise whats the point?

    Is it just me or do the switch films really reduce the "rattle" inside the switch? You stop hearing the clinking of the parts inside of the switch. Is it just me or do switch films really work? There are a lot of people saying they're like snake oil

      When I’m checking my switches after lubing, the ones that are filmed sound very different from the ones that are not. It also depends on the switch that you apply it to.

      I found that gat inks were smoother and cheaper so I always voted for them.

      @@AndyVNguyen fair enough - I've always been curious about Gat Inks also but I've heard that sometimes the leafs are loose and sometimes fall out when lubing etc.... - reason I bough Tealios is they are reliable and if filmed the sound deepens

      @@george8920 The current inks have fixed fixed loose leaf issues somewhat - it won't spontaneously fall out. I use the old inks before loose leaf, and they are very similar to the current iteration. If you push, the leaves can fall out. If you don't, they won't.
      It's just unfortunate that overall the leaves aren't as secure in the gateron ink housing as other leaves in other switches.
      Overall, I just recommend the alpaca.
      I will be getting creams in this week to break in, lube, and test, though!
