  •  4 года назад +1

    No review of the Inks? They were also supposed to be good.
    I'm a clicky switch fan so I don't mess much with linears.
    But I did do a build with Vintage MX Blacks, lubed with Krytox 205g0 and 67gr springs.
    Wanted a linears board in my collection and needed one for work that is quiet enough.
    Since Taeha dissed on Vintage MX Blacks and praised the Inks I had my doubts to maybe do a build with Inks.
    Sure, with Vintage MX Blacks you can feel some scratchiness when you concentrate on just one switch.
    But when you type away you can't feel nothing, everything feels smooth. So I think doing another build with some modern linears is not necessary. I have my linears switches "fill" with MX Blacks.
    Also doesn't the linear switch market feel overly saturated right now with all this switches?

    • @keybonbon
      @keybonbon  4 года назад +1

      I think MX blacks are good switches and vintage blacks are among my favorite switches ever, especially when you get a good batch of super smooth vint blacks. Inks are great too but they have a much different sound, I’d say higher pitched but not in an unpleasant way. My current daily has inks and I’m very happy with it. And I agree with you that the market seems to have a ton of linears for some reason haha. Would like to see more tactiles

    I think you missed out on mentioning stem wobble. Maybe the four of the switches you chose had the same wobble, but when I bought a switch tester from novelkeys, the ZealPC switches had less wobble than all the others, so I went with the Zealios. Wobble is my personal pet peeve, though, and I think is the biggest weakness of these MX clones compared to Topre switches. Maybe you don't care for wobble at all.

    You do great. I love most of your video.
    I wish you do comparison tactile switch version, most keyboard user use tactile.

    interesting, I kept reading that tealios were the smoothest, but you're saying alpacas are smoother. I'll have to look into them.

    In your opinion which is better, alpacas or tangerine?

  • @HeadShotKilla10
    @HeadShotKilla10 4 года назад

    Right now my ranking would go.....
    1- Alpaca
    2- C3 Tangerines
    3- H1's / Mauves / Marshmallows / Redbacks ( all JWK linears sound the same but Alpaca's are a little cheaper so rated higher IMO )
    4- Vintage Blacks
    5 - Gateron Inks
    6- NovelKeys Creams
    7 - Tealios
    8- Mily Gateron Yellows with UHWMPE Stems
    9- Retooled Cherry MX Blacks
    10- Regular Gateron Yellows

    Do the key caps fit good on hirose? What type of key caps are you using? Thinking of getting some hirose but I read somewhere that taking the key caps off of them damages the switches a little bit. Is this true?

    What’s the link to the tealios switches so I can buy them and are they optical if they aren’t than is there by any chance that there are optical tealios switches and if there is optical tealios switches are they compatible with the gk61 and can you send a link to the optical tealios switches if there are some.

    Nobody buys hirose orange for sound they werent known for good sound but good video either way tealios def sound better in person to me then hirose orange but hey to each there own and people need to understand that people cna hear pitches differently some people csnt hear certain tones like higher pitch overtones so yeah it's all subjective and preference

    • @keybonbon
      @keybonbon  4 года назад +1

      Definitely! I’ll need to spend a little more time with the hirose oranges, I have a good impression of them but haven’t typed on them long term like I have with other switches like tealios (which i agree are great)

    i really cant decide if i want gateron yellows or box jades. i can afford both,and theyre gonna be put in a gk61. what do you guys think?

    • @keybonbon
      @keybonbon  4 года назад

      personally I would go with gat yellows, they have a really nice sound and are not too loud. I guess it'll depend on whether you want a clicky sound or a more "thocky" sound from the gat yellows. I like clicky sometimes, but most of the time I like linears and tactiles

    • @1ava
      @1ava 4 года назад

      @@keybonbon yeah ive been thinking about it a bit and watching videos, asking around on r/mk and im leaning towards yellows now.

    so unfortunate that switches have spiked so much in price now. I can't even find more than 1 switch let alone any for a decent price. gaterons are now 24 bucks for 60.

    If you already happen to have recordings, I would very much be interested in a sound comparison between as many linears as you possibly can and would be interested in all those sound profiles. You could upload to your kbcompare website that you friggen created! thanks for the quality content! I'm seriously considering some of those alpacas

    • @keybonbon
      @keybonbon  4 года назад

      Definitely! Unfilmed switches have a certain “crunchy” noise that is really unpleasant- filming fixes that :) although filming improves some switches much better than others
