I love how quick and to the point this video is
Yes thank you! FFS!
Not to mention that the video is aesthetically pleasant to watch
holy shit I know you
@@chrisyun3953 from where?
within 60 seconds we get the sound tests! AMAZING
Holy shit these "to the point" videos nowadays are rare
Thanks dude
I'm just impressed that you were able to get enough hirose's so fill a board.
Lol yeah I don’t think I’m ever soldering these to a board unless I somehow get my hands on a lot more
maybe he only filled the letters with hirose switches, he didn't fill the special characters who knows *wink* *wink* jk jk
look forward to the comparison between alpaca, creams and tangies. cheers.
Yes yes yes yes yes
I would totally agree, I really want a mid-range linear switch comparison
alpacas win ez
@@mrb-btw i just got mine today, they're amazing
Toss up between alpaca/creams. Tangerines are clickier and dont sound as good as the other 2, but hands down have the smoothest housing 100% no question.

Where the fuck u get an alpaca 0.55 per switch lol

Thanks!!
Ah hello good sir
This is the most even playing field for a sound comparison I've ever seen on RUclips. Other creators don't use the same keyboard when doing sound tests. Thank you for posting this!
Some keyboard guy gon come here like "ah yes, this sounds like rasperry chocolate with a pinch of mint"
40% gang can afford more expensive switches cause we don't need that many lol
Sad TKL noises
Laugh in 2% pad
Hahahaha Damn you. I spilled my drink 😂

Gateron Ink Blacks: "Am I a joke to you?"
yea i'm wondering how the inks fit into those.
@@tangtangtang1372 ink blacks are considered to be one of the smoothest linear switches on the market lol
@@xawier9046 iirc C3 Tangerine v2s is the new smooth linear king with its housing made completely out of UHMWPE. Gateron Black Inks are definitely very smooth but the Tangerines are smoother stock and lubed.
@@zealiaa ye I said one of the smoothest
@@zealiaa and tangerines are impossible to get while black inks are more readily available
Those Alpacas sound so smooth, I'll definitely be looking to put those in my next board. Great video.
alternatively: Durock L7's if Alpacas are sold out, apparently the same thing
@@PinePizza not L7, more like L2/L3. Most of the Durock switches have same housing as Alpacas aka PC top Nylon bottom so once lubed and filmed they are nearly the same.
This is an extremely well made and high quality video. Well done.
Been using gateron yellows with UHMWPE stems. Not too expensive and feels great, when lubed with 205g0. Great video!
Amazing organization and comparison, and fair/accurate assessment. Would love to see something similar for tactiles!
Awesome comparison. Thanks for taking your time lubing/filming all these switches!
Thanks for watching!
3 minutes video no waste of time straight to the point. After seeing so many videos, I just love this.
A little late but this video was super helpful! Under 4 minutes and straight to the point. Thanks for saving me a bunch of time from researching more switches.
Usually youtubers have a 10 minute segment where they show you how to play raid shadow legends on a secure connection from nordvpn while listening to an audible audio book on your new raycon earbuds. Your quick and to the point videos are amazing.
Omg. I really wish you hadn't made, like, 10 vids and stopped. I just discovered your channel now, three years too late, and it's So good. Thanks for the awesome videos.
I like this channel because the quality is great and it gets right to the point, not 10 minutes and half of it is not related to the subject. Keep it up!
I'm really big into linear's although i'm typing on kiwi's rite now...the bulk of my collection is linear, my favorite switch to date is the black INK! especially once you type on them for a few weeks and break them in a bit, their excellent switches for the price
Your video looked so good and professional. I expected you to have over 50k subs, keep making good videos and I promise it will pay off. Next please make a video on alpacas, tangerines, and the other one
Oooo. Cool video! I for one would like to see an all-out Linear Switch comparison with the likes of Gat Ink Blacks, Kailh BOX Red/Black, Creams, and etc. One could dream though...
THIS
I was thinking of doing a video comparing the most hyped/popular linears at the moment (alpacas, creams, tangerines, inks, tealios, and retooled cherry blacks), hadn’t thought of including the BOX ones though- instead, I was thinking of doing a separate video comparing all BOX switches since there are so many variations
@@keybonbon ooo please do! On the side note, I personally don't think comparing the BOX switches with other different types of BOX switches makes much sense... since you cant exactly say that the BOX Jades are better than BOX Reds because your comparing a clicky switch with a linear switch. But I'd still watch it even if you do end up making a video comparing all BOX switches!
Jasper Kueh that’s a good point! I was thinking it would be more like a showcase of BOX switches and not so much a “this vs that” type of video. Maybe I can do something like a “lesser known linear switch comparison” video where I compare non-hyped linears to each other, so things like BOX linears, Durock linears from AliExpress, cherry reds, FFF (probably identical to Durocks), TTC linears
@@keybonbon ooo, that's a great idea too! Now to play to the waiting game haha. Definitely looking forward to your next upload! You deserve way more subs man!
I was not expecting this to just be 3 mins and I'm pleasantly surprised
Never spent more than 1 USD per switch bruh. Anything beyond that is overprice.
I agree. Theres a limit to actual value when there's something like a very small switch, simply because how little material it takes to make up a switch.
I am still waiting for 30$ keyboard to come back in stock
Bragging rights
Depends, things like Mx locks are worth even though you only need one per board.
Used this video as reference and my Alpacas arrived in the mail today! First time modding a keyboard so I’m excited to go from stock MX Browns to these linears.
Mx browns are very bad. Super scratchy. You made a good choice my friend.
Sound wasn't subtle for me, it got increasingly better, thanks for the video!
Thank you for watching! Since I filmed this I have a completely new audio set up, so I’ll be redoing it soon :)
I said it before but i love how short and on point your videos are.
Will you make a video like this about tactile switches too?
Thanks I appreciate that! And yes definitely :) will work on that soon
Gateron Yellow Gang here!!! I have Alpacas, tangies, and creams but at 20 to 30 cents per switch, hard to beat the gat yellows especially lubed and filmed. Currently using them on my daily driver, an NK65 V2 Entry.
Nice!! Gat yellows are great :) and paired with NK65 sounds like a great combination
Please don't put loud music just before a typing test, it is really painful on the ears for those of us who adjust their headphone volume early for the typing test.
Other than that, great video.
This or normalise the audio so the frequency range isn't that big.
@@MaximilianBerkmann dynamic range, not frequency range. and youtube does normalize... the music should just be removed or be quieter lol
best 3 and a half minute video ive ever watched, take my sub
Would love to see this kind of comparison for Tactile Switches.. thanks for the vid man..
Gateron Clears on my end. Smoothest and softest switches I've ever had. Resting your finger on the keys is already enough to push the switch down.
You need some getting used to to avoid mis-types but once you get the hang of it, its really REALLY good. Gateron Clears are most certainly not for everyone.
gateron ink blacks have entered the chat
I don't feel right about putting Hirose Oranges in this list and compare them in terms of price and quality since Hirose switches are expensive because of their rarity while the rest are from the materials. Aside from that, great video as always. I actually have a question for the price for quite a while now then I got this video. Thanks to your content
That’s a good point- it probably makes more sense to include them in a video comparing vintage blacks, hirose orange, and nixies. I appreciate the feedback :) thanks for watching!
The way you start the typing is so enthralling
Alpaca won just simply. I would say ink switches are very interesting - silent switch with no dampener
Dont discount whipped NK creams. Extremely good IMO and I would pref to Alpaca (although it's a toss up). Tangerines also have a much smoother housing than Alpacas or Creams so if you're looking for a smooth switch Tangerines are definitely something to look at. Best comparison to Tangerines is prob the ink v2s since they are both so smooth.
Unlubed, tangerines are def smoother than oil v2s. I know my lubed oil v2s are super super smooth tho.
Great content! Succinct and quite helpful especially for people who don't have the resource to try these thing themselves.
LOL and when you thought $1 a switch was bad
You should do a similar comparison with tactile switches. I love these videos and you should keep doing them!
Really amazing video, I hope you make more mechanical keyboard content, your channel has a lot of potential!
Thanks I appreciate that!! I have a ton of content coming :)
Great Video Bro! I agree on the pricing for value and performance. Those alpacas were nice. I am looking for silent anything tactile and linears. BadSeedTech's Silent Alpacas build was crack.
Agreed! I loved his silent build :)
In my opinion, lubed cherry retooled mx black switches are the best all-round switches. Even better than gateron ink in term p/p and availability.
No review of the Inks? They were also supposed to be good.
I'm a clicky switch fan so I don't mess much with linears.
But I did do a build with Vintage MX Blacks, lubed with Krytox 205g0 and 67gr springs.
Wanted a linears board in my collection and needed one for work that is quiet enough.
Since Taeha dissed on Vintage MX Blacks and praised the Inks I had my doubts to maybe do a build with Inks.
Sure, with Vintage MX Blacks you can feel some scratchiness when you concentrate on just one switch.
But when you type away you can't feel nothing, everything feels smooth. So I think doing another build with some modern linears is not necessary. I have my linears switches "fill" with MX Blacks.
Also doesn't the linear switch market feel overly saturated right now with all this switches?
I think MX blacks are good switches and vintage blacks are among my favorite switches ever, especially when you get a good batch of super smooth vint blacks. Inks are great too but they have a much different sound, I’d say higher pitched but not in an unpleasant way. My current daily has inks and I’m very happy with it. And I agree with you that the market seems to have a ton of linears for some reason haha. Would like to see more tactiles
that video saved my life, just got my gateron yellows, they’re really sick
I closed my eyes during the sound test so I didn’t know what switch was being used, in my opinion the yellows sound the best🤷♂️
Where are you getting Milk Gateron Yellows for 12?
How do you not have more subscribers!? I feel lucky to have stubbles across your channel. SUB’d!
Can you make a tactile version XD I just bought cherry mx Browns but have no idea if there are better switches out there
Haha I should! That’s my most popular request :)
i'm part of full size gang so the alpacas seem great but then again here i am with a chinese board with outemu blues 😅
just a critique, but if i'd do a video like this i'd do a bunch of switches that are similar and at different prices, so you could do like cherry black, h1, vintage black or something like that.
Man, I'm from Taiwan. And, your channel is extremely informative, we need more videos, pls!!!
you should have added the actuation force and travel distance of each one of them, gr8 vid btw
Good feedback thanks!
Great content! I'd have liked to see some more linears (cream, gateron ink, vintage black, tangerines, h1) in the comparison though
Thanks! I’ll try to do a more comprehensive comparison in the future :)
I think you missed out on mentioning stem wobble. Maybe the four of the switches you chose had the same wobble, but when I bought a switch tester from novelkeys, the ZealPC switches had less wobble than all the others, so I went with the Zealios. Wobble is my personal pet peeve, though, and I think is the biggest weakness of these MX clones compared to Topre switches. Maybe you don't care for wobble at all.
Great point! I tend to care more about housing wobble than stem wobble, but stem wobble is important too, I’ll keep that in mind for the next video. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
I have some Gateron Yellows. Love them, but I have the same experience as you lubed with 3204. Guessing its from the stem wobble.
I found the sound of the Yellows and Tealios the nicest in my opinion. Alpacas seemed a little harsh and higher pitched to me.
huh alpacs had nthe lowest sound out of all of them...yelow and tealios sound like dog shit
Good content, but I suggest switching up your intro, it feels too similar to the one that Badseed Tech always uses. Otherwise, great work, I like how you get right to the point instead of dragging the video out to 10 minutes.
Straightforward, like it! Subscribed 🙂
Tangerines, creams, alpacas please
Great video man!
$5 per switch is ridiculous! I managed to get enough NOS Vintage Blacks to fill a TKL, 5ml 205g0, 5ml 105 oil, 100+ Tx films, and 100+ 69g SPRiT springs. And after all of that it only came out to barely over $2 per switch counting international shipping costs.
Lol yeah it is a little ridiculous
great video, love this. subbed
I wish Gateron Ink blacks were part of the comparison. Anyone out there with experience with inks and Apacas? I just picked up a pair of Inks as my first aftermarket switch set and wondering if I should pick up Alpacas when they become available.
I’ll be making a comparison of the popular linears soon! Thanks for watching :)
Tangerines? Haven't seen them for 20 years. But seriously though, when are they going to reeeeeestock!!!!
Do you like the NK blueberries? Where do I buy Alpacas?
Hirose orange are def not worth it, just for being rare is the main reason the price is so high per switch. As for the Gateron yellow , those milky yellow are def scratchy after lubing but I found out that the gat yellows with white housing arent and are surprisingly smooth stock, to me gateron yellows are perhaps the my favorite linear switch
Gateron yellows are awesome! I recently got my hands on black bottom yellows which are supposedly smoother, I’ll try them out soon and maybe make comparison video between black bottom and milky bottom
I noticed that you put the R2 delete key on your hhkb instead of a backspace key. Was your set missing the backspace key? I only ask because I was in a similar situation where my GMK WoB was missing a R2 backspace key.
Oh wow yours was missing that key out of the box? I just used the delete key randomly but I’m fairly certain I have the backspace key somewhere (got this set from Drop)
Nice! Looking forward to tactile ones too :]
Same video but with tactile switches would be awesome :)
Definitely on the list! :)
Very straightforward. Thank you.
Could you do a tactile switch comparison?
Will do hopefully soon! :)
do those switches work with all tipes of mecanical keyboards or with a specific one?
You do great. I love most of your video.
I wish you do comparison tactile switch version, most keyboard user use tactile.
Is the conclusion gonna be the same?
Great suggestion! I'm working on more tactile videos soon :)
interesting, I kept reading that tealios were the smoothest, but you're saying alpacas are smoother. I'll have to look into them.
In your opinion which is better, alpacas or tangerine?
Right now my ranking would go.....
1- Alpaca
2- C3 Tangerines
3- H1's / Mauves / Marshmallows / Redbacks ( all JWK linears sound the same but Alpaca's are a little cheaper so rated higher IMO )
4- Vintage Blacks
5 - Gateron Inks
6- NovelKeys Creams
7 - Tealios
8- Mily Gateron Yellows with UHWMPE Stems
9- Retooled Cherry MX Blacks
10- Regular Gateron Yellows
do you rank v.blacks lower bc of price/sourcing?
Can you do this for tactiles as well?
Did you not put your graphics card in the top PCIe slot on the motherboard?
You should’ve put black inks in this comparison.
Do the key caps fit good on hirose? What type of key caps are you using? Thinking of getting some hirose but I read somewhere that taking the key caps off of them damages the switches a little bit. Is this true?
What’s the link to the tealios switches so I can buy them and are they optical if they aren’t than is there by any chance that there are optical tealios switches and if there is optical tealios switches are they compatible with the gk61 and can you send a link to the optical tealios switches if there are some.
Will gaterons yellow work for a duck one2 mini
Nobody buys hirose orange for sound they werent known for good sound but good video either way tealios def sound better in person to me then hirose orange but hey to each there own and people need to understand that people cna hear pitches differently some people csnt hear certain tones like higher pitch overtones so yeah it's all subjective and preference
Definitely! I’ll need to spend a little more time with the hirose oranges, I have a good impression of them but haven’t typed on them long term like I have with other switches like tealios (which i agree are great)
i really cant decide if i want gateron yellows or box jades. i can afford both, and theyre gonna be put in a gk61. what do you guys think?
personally I would go with gat yellows, they have a really nice sound and are not too loud. I guess it'll depend on whether you want a clicky sound or a more "thocky" sound from the gat yellows. I like clicky sometimes, but most of the time I like linears and tactiles
@@keybonbon yeah ive been thinking about it a bit and watching videos, asking around on r/mk and im leaning towards yellows now.
so unfortunate that switches have spiked so much in price now. I can't even find more than 1 switch let alone any for a decent price. gaterons are now 24 bucks for 60.
Waiting for your tactile switch comparison
U should do a tactile version...I would love to watch
Is that Telios or Telios V2?!
If you already happen to have recordings, I would very much be interested in a sound comparison between as many linears as you possibly can and would be interested in all those sound profiles. You could upload to your kbcompare website that you friggen created! thanks for the quality content! I'm seriously considering some of those alpacas
Where did you buy those alpacas 😅
no idea why i watch stuff like this, im not gonna buy a new keyboard but this is still amazing.
Where can you buy the gateron yellows at?
Check out KBDFans, they usually have good amount of stock
Do u have the where did u buy the yellow
Where did you get your yellows
do you find switch films help with the sound? i've only ever lubed/switch top swaps to mx tops.
Definitely! Unfilmed switches have a certain “crunchy” noise that is really unpleasant- filming fixes that :) although filming improves some switches much better than others
where did you buy this?
Where can I buy the alpaca switches
i wanna get the alpaca or gateron yellow were is the best shop i gent get it
where is the best place to get some yellows
thx
Hey, what do you mean by scratchiness? Is it the sound when you press it down or an actual scratchy feeling?
scratchy feeling when the stem runs down on the slider
Where can i find these alpaca switch?
They sell on PrimeKB but are out of stock at the moment, make sure to follow their social accounts for more updates :)
Can you make one for tactiles?
