    You hit the nail in the head once again. Vinyl is about the experience. Your video was on point on how the love of music we had as kids connected us to our friends - holding the vinyl, appreciating the art work, reading the notes. I remember being in grade nine and one day patiently waiting for a friend to come over who had just purchased an album that had been released that very morning of a great Canadian rock band by the name of STREETHEART. Them were the days :-) My friend is gone now, but I am certain one day we will again listen to vinyl together.

      Wow, thanks for taking the time to leave such thoughtful comments. I’m not familiar with Streetheart. I just listened to a couple of their songs on Apple Music. Definitely need to add them to a playlist and check them out a little deeper. I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, but it’s really cool how the music keeps your connection with him going even now.

    somehow, I have managed to hold on to my vinyl collection from my teenage years. So happy that vinyl has made a comeback. I need to have my infinity speakers re-coned they are trashed, but still sound pretty good if I turn the volume up high enough. Got a vector turntable and Sony receiver. Music really is the soundtrack to life, it can really take you back to a time and place.....

    I didn't really purchase most of my music as a kid in the 80's I'd usually listen to my older brothers or my mom's or dad's cassette tapes. When i was slightly older in the 90's I still kinda remember my own first tapes i bought myself I think they were Oasis, collective soul, white zombie, jewel.

    You are absolutely right. Sadly the whole vinyl experience ended when CDs came around but before that you had something really tangible there, especially with double LPs or the ones that had a double jacket, with all the lyrics and huge pictures of the band was as close as you could get to them in a time way before the internet. I still have my collection and I’m gonna keep them not just because they take me back and have this whole unique feeling about them but also because of the audio quality and the analog hi-fi. I just can’t get enough of vinyls, even though I must admit that I have only been listening to audio on my phone or on the computer for a long time now…

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood

      Well said on all points, especially about the notes and lyrics that you couldn’t get elsewhere before the internet. I tend to stream mostly myself too, but I do enjoy periodic vinyl listening sessions. 👍

    Nice shirt bro,you must like Tones on tails also and of course Bauhaus and Peter Murphy. I just ran out of space on my crate that holds vinyl,i think im at close to 150 now. I just got 3 Death albums on vinyl a few days ago. I have the Audio Technica LP120 that looks like the Technics 1200. I bought it at 300 like 7 years ago and its at 400 now i just noticed. I have 2 copies of TS Stay Hungry on vinyl,lol. The ritual and experience of putting a vinyl on that these younger kids will never know unless parents raised them right 👍

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  3 месяца назад

      Yes, all those… I don’t dislike Peter Murphy, but I much prefer Daniel Ash, so I enjoy Love and Rockets a lot more than Bauhaus. But it’s all good. I guess you need another crate for your next 150. 🤣 I almost got that same LP120. It has a great reputation. My son started a vinyl collection 5 or 6 years ago. So I guess I’m doing something right.. lol

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  3 месяца назад

      I didn’t take a boombox around much myself back in the day while skating,but I would have listened to stuff like the Pixies, INXS, Bad Brains, Sex Pistols, the Replacements, Husker Du, REM, etc. one of my friends had a mini ramp in his garage, and he pretty much always had Public Enemy on. 👍

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood

      They are sort of like junk drawers. Charging cables and stuff in one. Some camera accessories in another. Some stickers and trinkets in another. Etc.
