I wasn’t a fan of the louder color schemes for this iteration of Lone Peaks. With that said, I happily purchased lightly used navy ones for 50% off at REI. Can’t wait to put some miles in them.
My 5’s were the first altras to disappoint. I didn’t care for them feeling unstable when the trail with slope to the side. Thanks for the video looking forward your next review
Yes ! I remember that w the 4.5 the material was flimsy, I twisted my ankle a few times , these feel better and more stable , we’ll see Thanks for watching, happy hiking
@@baskets8429 not sure how much it will help being a low. since there are high with gtx maybe? and hiker, not sure how that is different since it looks more like the oly gtx than the "all wthr 2". didn'[t they always have lone peak mids and hikers across the past? they started calling all wthr on either 4.5 or 5, surely not 6 or did i miss something wonky. used to use event and then even neoshell prior to that if u can believe it. what wonk eras they sure have passed.
Wow, thanks for doing this video. I was waiting for someone to do a review of the Altra 7's. It looks like a radical redesign. Hopefully these are more durable than previous versions.
@@baskets8429 it's out there but always less pretty overall judging the colorways from the male to the female this past year. what i mean is i wish they could just offer all colorways for both sex to pick from together since they designed them at all. ofc for them it's more hassle but if they keep making male colors less appealing their loss round and about so really again they should have -----u know what i don't care it's just cosmetic lol
@@lyrilljackson I never cared what color the Altras were. I usually just buy whatever color the outfitter has in my size and never give it a second thought.
Awesome job on the review. I hear ya on wanting enough room in the front. I think I once had the 3.5. and loved them. Great review on these. Good point about the drainage holes.👍how are they working for you now? I do like the colors.
Thanks, they are pretty decent overall Still using them currently Was gonna do a full review on them but didn’t wear them out enough to do a full review Overall they are holding up really well
Great to see your first impressions of the Lone Peak 7 Baskets! I ended up getting this colorway too after seeing them in person. I actually prefer them to the navy ones in my video. Looking forward to seeing how the shoes hold up for us on the trail. Enjoy!
That color is awesome! Nice overview. I got mine wet today…they seemed to drain really fast. Super stable and they might be my favorite version so far. Update on the Stratospire Li?
very glad to hear about the draining, i did a treadmill workout w them going on trail this week, The Stratospire Li should get some trail use in Feb sometime, hoping to do a review on it a long w some other gear
Happy New Year. Nice unboxing. Got to try them out, along with buying a couple pairs of the 6’s as I loved them. We’ll give them a shot! No drain holes??
$150 is ridiculous I can just wrap my feet in plastic bags and put on my old shoes and my feet become water repellent and now have cushioning. I can use the money I saved to buy candy and pizza. You need to stop worrying about fashion and return to the trail! Good review though for the wealthy people that can afford these.
One of the big complaints about the MaxTrac outsole has been how it performs in wet conditions. According to Altra they have addressed this issue and have changed the compound of the MaxTrac.
Interesting, I never noticed that myself have thousands of miles of using the 4.0 model that had Maxtrac on rocky terrain in NH, Maine and other rugged trails and they had good control on downhills
@@lyrilljackson yes it rained heavy on us, i used Altra w MaxTrac on my Appalachian trail thru hike and they performed almost as well as the Altra 3.5 that had the regular grip sole, i prefered the 3.5 but had no issues coming down wet terrain w the MaxTrac, alo hiked w many hikers who had no issues as well
@@lyrilljackson ive thru hiked thousands of miles with other thru hikers using these shoes, so maybe my experience level on wet terrain makes it easier to hike those surfaces w Maxtrac shoes, not really sure who says it cant work on wet, when ive seen it work on wet with myself and many other hikers, how many pairs of Altra Lone Peaks have you personally tried just curious ?
did u know golden harper's dad drilled lateral holes to UL treament the shoe or make it more plyable. he also had knee injuries like many altra diehards
I wonder how the front/toe rubber holds up over time. My altras (3.5s) unfortunately started to come apart pretty early on the tip of the shoe, but it looks like the 7 has a different toe rubber area?
I haven’t had too many problems w previous model Lone Peaks , but many people on trail had to use glue to keep theirs from peeling , toe looks to be better on the 7 , but we shall see after wear how it holds up
great first impressions., great presentations and walk thru of the shoe. thank you
Your very welcome! Thanks for watching 👍👍
Looking forward to the review on those new ultras.
thanks, yup im putting on some snowy miles on them
great overview. Yeah the 3s and the 2s are my favorites! Hope this one gets back to that feel.
agreed! so far they feel pretty good, the 3s were awesome for sure
Happy New Year Steve and Julie !
happy new year! and happy trails!
Happy New Year to you both. would love to see more hiking videos or videos of your area of Chicago.

I agree the 5s were way too flimsy. The 4.5s have been my favorite so far. The 6s are on sale but the ruggedness of the 7s looks really appealing.
yeah im hoping the 7s perform as good as they look, we shall see!
stocking up on the 6s at a discount sounds appealing too

How is candy or pizza more important than your own feet. Who likes hiking with plastic bags on their feet?

I've fallen in love with the Timps. Bit more cushion, drain holes, breathable mesh.
