I love the wood on the ceiling of your shower! It really pops against the white tile and brings an earthiness to the space that could feel cold otherwise. Bravo!
This was the first time I had ever seen a wood ceiling and now it has me looking at wood ceilings in kitchens as well. Love you guys keep up the good work.
Hi, I first saw a slated ceiling in a van makeover. From that day forward it's been on my mind to do that in my guess bathroom. You address all the concerns I had regarding wood selection, moisture and staining. I was looking at mixing stains to come up color that I like. I like the color you guys came up with. I am looking at the walls in your shower, interesting. Will checkout your bathroom makeover video to see what material you guys used on the wall. Thank you,
This is exactly the reno video I needed! Your bathroom looks so good! I'm wanting to modify this DIY a smidge but could use some advice. I want to bring the boards down about a half inch to 3/4 inch so our fan is hidden under the boards but still does its job. Any suggestions for installing the boards suspended a smidge?
could add a thinning strip under the board - glue them together and nail/secure to ceiling. One thing to note is that you want to be able to get to the fan if it needs to be service/replaced in the future. May be a non-issue if you can access from attic (or simliar).
This looks INCREDIBLE! GREAT JOB! I'm going to try it! In the video the stains Briarsmoke and Tuscany are mentioned as the two stains used to achieve this beautiful color ... but linked below is Tuscany and Flagstone. Do you remember if you used Briarsmoke or Flagstone? Thanks in advance!
i have been trying to find the shower tile u used but no luck...I have a very small shower so i think the same tile will look amazing plus makes the shower look larger...
Oh darn! If you have any specialty tile stores near you, pop in and ask if they have any 3D tiles! There are tons of other options out there that look great too!
You didn't show how you finished the edge closest to the interior of the bathroom. Also, when you cut those last two slivers of wood to fit either side of the ceiling, they were hopefully sprayed with the moisture sealant on their exposed cut edges?
Yes! In voiceover we mentioned that we sprayed the cut edges and advised everyone to do the same. We didn’t do anything to finish the exposed interior edges. They are sealed and protected, but just resting as slats on the ceiling - the result looks purposeful, and clean - it has a natural darker edge where the stain and sealant soaked in.
After 9months of use how is the ceiling doing? I love the look but curious if you are seeing any war page or discolor? Would you do anything different?
It truly looks exactly the same as day 1! No discolouring or wear at all. We’re still very happy with it! We’re sharing a full home tour soon, so you’ll be able to see how it looks now if you’re curious.

Totally agree! It definitely would’ve felt a lot colder in here without that warm wood tone!
The wood really adds a great element to the bathroom. The cherry on top. 🍒
Totally agree! It finished off the space beautifully! 🖤
Might need to try this when I get to my bathroom. I would love to do this to the whole ceiling in there.
That would look so good! I love the texture it adds!
It turned out beautifully!
Thank you!
That looks AMAZING! My shoulders started aching just watching you install the boards! lol
Least it was a small ceiling lol, worth it thought!
so cool...i am planing to do something like that in the laundry room using used wood...see how will end up...love the end result..
Oh that would be so beautiful! These ceilings honestly look good everywhere! 😍
Your bathroom finishes are very clean and modern, I love them!
Have you ever thought of doing a flush or recessed skirtings?
Thanks! No I haven't - not 100% sure what you are referencing?

It definitely makes a big visual impact and it's pretty easy to do! Definitely worth it!
This is amazing! Looks so spa like. Great job you two!
Thank you!! Ceilings are so overlooked but they can add so much character to a space!
This room is my dream!!
I love waking up to it every day :)
Looks great, has it held up since?
It looked liked new before we left - and that was when it was about 1 1-1/2 years old.
Outstanding!👍

So happy you posted this! I love this reno. Especially the ceiling! 😍
Oh good! I’m so glad we posted it! 🖤
I'm really loving this idea guys! I'm currently looking for Inspo for my bathroom ceiling and this Is definitely making me happy 😊
Great tutorial! It looks great~

LOVE!! You guys are amazing at this design thing 😆
Definitely my favourite feature of that bathroom renovation! 😍

I’m almost positive it was Flagstone! I’ll have to fix the link :)
Well done, it looks stunning
Thank you!! 🖤
High how many coats of sealer did you use? I’m making a 1x1 slat ceiling in the whole bathroom
Its been a minute - but I think we did two coats on the boards before installing and a touch up coat once it was installed 😀
@@LindiandRuss thanks I will be doing 1x1 poplar slats with 3/4 inch in between I made the same way on the table saw then adding spar varnish
Love this
Thank you!! Such an affordable upgrade! 🙌

This is awesome. Planning on doing this to our bathroom!! Question, what edge did you put around, caulk alone????
All of our edges were protected and we had a nice tight fit, so we didn’t caulk the sides, but you definitely could caulk the edges
can i ask? what are the two different stains you mixed ?
thank you so much! love the palette and the vibes 💜💜💜
I think we mentioned it in the video, but they are both linked in the description box too! :)
I want this in my full bedroom
It would look soooo amazing across a bedroom ceiling!

Bc there’s a small gap between the wood pieces are you at all worried about moisture trapped between wood and the actual ceiling?
No, because the wood and ceiling are all well protected and the room is well ventilated :)
Did y’all burnish the edges? Or did they darken due to it being plywood? Either way it looks good
Just dark from the plywood taking the stain and varnish.
Nice
Thank you :)
Bro needs to blink or something
Gotta keep the eyes on the prize!
Loved it
I am glad, we love how this washroom turned out!
@@LindiandRuss iam trying to do it to my small commercial store, hopefully it works out really good
