Did you say your house was 5000 SF?! Unusual for an old Spanish style, right? It must be beautiful! Thanks for the video and rec for SimpliSafe. I've been trying to choose a system for my house. Sounds really good!
Wow Drew that ceiling is exceptional! Honestly every single renovation just keeps getting better and better. You truly have an eye for design that is unique to what anyone else on RUclips is doing.
I bought this nail gun as we were planning to renew all the fencing in our back garden. As this involved 19 double slatted fence panels, 10 of which needed to be cut down in size, we knew there would be a need for a great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt deal of re-stapling the wooden slats to the wooden framework. Each alteration required the re-stapling of 62 wooden slats with double staples. Prior to starting the work we ordered sufficient additional staples as per the instructions with the gun.The gun performed fantastically throughout the entire project with no jams of misfires. The adjustable power was excellent allowing the staples to be fired into the 8mm slats to the correct depth. For the price paid this was a bargain and it proved itself to be so reliable and versatile making an arduous task much quicker and professional. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and it will be used on many other projects in the future.
I love that in a world of modern farmhouse you're actually making Spanish/Old Holywood work. Its not easy but it respects the home's design so much more.
The ceiling looks awesome - like it was a part of the original home. Also, can I say once again how blessed you are to have Justin. Even if you are paying him, you are still blessed. His commitment and work ethic sets a high standard. It's relationship "goal".
The ceiling is fabulous. It looks like it should have always been that way. The stain is such a great match to the original beams. Your home is beautiful. You are doing an excellent job with your remodeling.
Drew! You should always apply a conditioner to new & even stripped lumber before staining to obtain an accurate color & non-splotchy finish! Just a tip for future staining projects but I can’t wait to see how you complete this space 💜.
I’ve used this method. 1. Sand down with 120 grit sandpaper 2. Vacuum the wood 3. Apply water so the wood is evenly soaked. Wait until the wood feels pretty dry to the touch. 4. Apply stain. Within 30 minutes apply second layer of stain. 5. Wipe away excess. Wait 24 hours. 6. Polish with black foam sanding block 7. Apply two thin layers of stain again and wipe excess away. Best method imo
I’m typically not a fan of coffered ceilings because they feel so busy to me. But DAMN. You made a believer out of me. Absolutely stunning. A professional couldn’t have achieved a better look.
Again you did it! One of the reasons you don’t sleep well is because you have such wonderful ideas running around in that creative mind of yours! Just love it❤❤❤❤
That looks fabulous! You've done a great job! If you, or anyone else, plan to replicate this ceiling anywhere else, then you'll want to stain the wood pieces BEFORE you hang them. Much easier when you do as little overhead work as possible. Most all soft wood species will blotch, that can be reduced greatly by applying a prestain conditioner, either a purchased or homemade version can work well. Gel stains can have a less dramatic impact with a prestain conditioner but it can still help. Can't wait to see what's next for you!
@@94rome I was also thinking the same about staining it after installing. My dad would've probably said his standart "Why do it the easy way, when complicated is so much more fun" 😆 It however looks absolutely amazing!
I'm sure it was because this was a was a new design venture, he was excited & that's how you learn... Even down to inserting screws, nails etc at an angle to ward off gravity, someone (probably several someones) had to have done it incorrectly the 1st time - then Never made that error again.
I just love the ceiling. To save my back, I probably would have sanded the cut edges and prestained before hanging, but to each his own. Agree on the conditioner...something i learned from reading these comments.
I love how well and naturally you and Justin work together! It's hard to let people in on projects and properly work as a team and you all do it beautifully
Drew, there is also a wood conditioner that you can apply prior to staining. It prepares the wood to receive stain, and you will get no blotches and not have to use extra product👍 Great job of course! Looks awesome! 🙂
Peeling back the tape is a WOW moment. The stain matches perfectly. Fantastic job Drew and Justin. Only one thing, use protective glasses for those beautiful eyes. Oops I'm so a mom. Sorry. Lol
Honey YES. I was cringing the whole time watching it go up, knowing how much it sucks to paint or stain over your head. Plus then it wouldn’t get on the walls. Looks cute tho! ❤
Drew, I just want to say what a joy your videos are. I love your personality and your gentle nature. It always makes me feel happy to be touched by your light. Keep on making the world a more beautiful place!
You better be bragging this up because it shows your tremendous skills, vision, ambition and talent. The results elevated your home forever. One of your best yet! Strong work!
You two did such a wonderful job in book matching the two wood ceiling. This look identical to one another! Take a bow, toot your own horn and pop your own collar. Because, you two have done a PHENOMENAL JOB! Smile Keshia
OMG!!!!!! Drew, I am literally flipping out at how gorgeous that ceiling looks!!!! It looks like it was always that way/original to the home!!! Your talent is truly out of this world, amazing!!!! The cost was totally worth it!!!! ✌️&❤
I think you deserve praise for everything you do. You are courageous and willing to have a go at anything. Two of your most endearing qualities are your humility and your childlike excitement at the finish of a project. Well done Drew the ceiling looks amazing. 😊💕
This looks absolutely beautiful every detail really has made your home extra special.Just a tip on wood before staining you should apply a conditioner or even use a wet cloth and rub it on the wood to"open the pours up" it helps take the stain better to the wood and stain it before hanging that way your coats would come out more uniformed. And less strain on the body!
Just adding the first set of beams was cool, that alone would have been great, but then filling them in with the wooden slats was Awesome! Your ceiling is beautiful ❤️
Drew, that ceiling is exceptional. Pat yourself on the back for me! In today’s economy $700 for that job is a steal. The joy you will have sitting in your office knowing you did that makes me smile, thanks for sharing.
Wow!! I'm impressed. Not only are your design skills top-level, but you are very talented with carpentry skills. I'd been so intimated taking on some of these remodeling projects, but you make it look so easy and you always have such a good attitude! Keep up the excellent work you are doing. Your 1929 home will definitely be the 'show home' in the neighborhood. And, you did it all by yourself (with a little help from your friends). Always excited and waiting for your next video drop.
What's impressive is a) that you have such wonderful, and often quite offbeat ideas and b) that you have the technical knowhow and expertise to carry out your ideas and c) that if something doesn't turn out how you envisaged it, you don't moan and groan about it, but just find a new solution, and get on with it. Three qualities essential for a designer, imo, plus patience to wait for the right thing, be it a paint colour or a coffee table rather than compromise on something not exactly 100% what you had in mind. And I love your fearless mixing and matching of different styles and different eras, because you have that instinct (which can't be learnt, but is inborn) of what will go together. No doubt in my mind, Drew, that you are going to be a very influential designer, because of your inimitable style.

I've used wood planks to cover an ugly cathedral ceiling. Here's a a couple of tips 1. Always use a wood conditioner prior to staining, especially with a softer wood to get an even tone and use less stain, 2. pre-stain all your planks and trim before you nail it up (saves time and the pain in your neck). Are you kidding me?!?! That looks amazing!! So impressed!! Genius move I want to do something similar in my primary bedroom. Absolutely love it Drew!! Well done you! 👏
Wow! The ceiling came out beautiful!!!! One thing I learned long ago is: paint all your components on the ground when they're cut to size and ready to mount. It's easier on the neck and back, AND you don't get paint/stain spatter all over your walls. Saves a lot of fix-it work that way. Plus the time from assembly/attachment to ceiling to finish of project is so short, it feels like you sidestepped 'delayed gratification', haha! But lovely job, boys, as usual.
Oh my, Drew! You & Justin are like real carpenters now!! Your coffered ceilings turned out to be so beautiful! I can’t wait to see your office come together!
Beautiful! I am so glad you did this to the ceiling. I have looooved those beams since I first saw them and I think it's great you did something to highlight them! Another excellent job by both Drew and Justin!
oh my goodness, I am seriously impressed! this is an absolutely lovely job. Well done. The both of you achieved exactly what you wanted. And I’m sure everyone here agrees, you did just unbelievably well 🥳
I love coffered ceilings too. You did a fabulous job on this project. The uniformity was awesome and the beautiful print on the already existing wood ... Absolutely lovely.

Beautiful! I am so glad you did this to the ceiling. I have looooved those beams since I first saw them and I think it's great you did something to highlight them! Another excellent job by both Drew and Justin!

That's one of the most satisfying DIYs I've ever experienced. Not least, because you planned and executed it so efficiently. Great job, guys!

I love coffered ceilings too. You did a fabulous job on this project. The uniformity was awesome and the beautiful print on the already existing wood ... Absolutely lovely.
That was such a clever and wonderful idea. Once you showed how it flowed into the other room, it was just stunning.
