- An officer and a teen were killed during a shootout Friday morning.
Memphis Police Officer Joseph McKinney was killed during the shooting. He was taken to the hospital but did not survive his injuries.
A second officer was taken to Regional One Hospital and is now in non-critical condition. A bullet grazed a third officer.
MPD said an 18-year-old was killed during the shootout and a 17-year-old was taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.

The 18 year old, Jaylen Lobley, had been arrested in March 2024 for car theft and gun possession but On March 7, Lobley was released on his own recognizance - with conditions that included agreeing to weekly call-ins and curfew - approved by the General Sessions court. However, the judge who released the suspect without bond was not named in the Shelby County judicial system. Something needs to be done about these liberal judges who keep releasing dangerous criminals into the public.
What about people who only get caught with drugs? Thats not a real crime.
