How's the training going? You're enjoying it so far?
Hi Garrett! I’m a retired Air Force pilot and now a Southwest Airlines Captain. My sons are 15 & 16 years old and they want to fly for SWA also but the civilian route is so different from my military path. Your video was awesome to learn how the current system works to build time and ratings. Thanks so much brother!! I hope you come fly for us soon. 🇺🇸👍
Great advice Garrett, we all have regrets on decisions we’ve made, but learning from others helps tremendously. So props for sharing your knowledge and experience. Others will benefit!! 👊👍
I almost bought into Embry-Riddle because it seemed like THE school to go to for flight training and aviation, but I quickly realized that I had great other options as well! I’m at San Jose right now which I know isn’t as recognized and glorified as other aviation schools, but I love it! Plus the in-state tuition makes it much more affordable for me 😂. I just started flight training so I have a looonnnggg way to go but I’m already really excited about my future as a pilot
San jose shits on ERAU , west coast best coast out here. Youre at the right place
Embry-Riddle is good, but it is extremely expensive! If you can get the ratings cheaper, do it!
And how is it tho? Did you start from zero there? I’m trying to figure out what I have to do and what school to go to! I live in nyc but I’m willing to move anywhere just to get to a nice school
how's the pilot training right now @LizetteGallegos
Hahaa
Kids looking up at the sky sayin that’s what I want to do that’s me 😂
Wesley Lively haha me too lol
Csgo Moments same I’m in highschool and I’m really trying to get into a good school so I can be a pilot for airlines

Yes go on of course! 👍🏻 My older brother is Pilot too for 5 years and Ive graduated same as your degree! 😃 And i decided to become a pilot too. But first i must improve myself in English as soon as possible then training😍 I am from Turkey and Nice to meet you! Thanks for your suggestions 🙏🏻 I ll stay tune because sometimes i need to get motivated
Thanks Garret I’m so excited. I came across that ATP school the other day randomly in person. I thought I was gonna have to go to college. this is a sign from the heavens above. . Thanks for this video. May God bless you

You can do this! I am working a couple jobs as well saving up to get my private pilot's license. I have my student pilot certificate. I'm almost there!

Good Luck! I'm still at secondary school and I just want to be a pilot now for Qatar Airways:/
Peter Rajakanthan don’t you have to be a commercial pilot and then become a international pilot? Idk pls answer

Thank you Garrett. That video helped me a lot. I am working on getting a co-signer for my pre approval loan for ATP. I am like you in that I never really dreamed about being a pilot but I enjoyed watching planes.

Thanks for taking the time to create these informative videos. Keep up the great work, Garret.

Hi Garrett! This is such a very informative guide. I’ve really learned a lot and this ignites the fire inside me of wanting to become an Airline Pilot someday. Thank you so much! 🥳☺️

My current instructor now went to ATP. I haven't heard nothing but great stuff about it except for the cfi job you're suppose to get afterwards. Anyways great content man!!
Thanks a lot!!! God bless you for the lessons you giving us. 🙏
I found this very helpful, I am currently in high school and wasn't that sure of what I wanted to do as a career. However i am now really considering becoming a pilot as I really love flying on a plane and finding out how to fly one is interesting.
Amina Khamari me too!

A great video, your sharing about how a pilot building time 👍👍👍
Next video on how ground school works for the airlines + how you find out what plane you will fly 👍
Thank you soooo much for this channel I kinda wanted to be a pilot but now I really want to be a pilot
Thank you Garrett, nice advice!
Soloing at 12 hours is hella impressive man. That’s a huge flex lol. I’m at 18 hours myself and still have a bit of work to do. I’m glad you decided to teach people about aviation
i have 1 hour ...am so jealous
Just wanna say that I love your and channel hope you keep pursuing RUclips
Great video. I'm thinking about making the jump from model airplanes to real ones. Thanks for all the info. Subscribed!
Thank you. For your tips I still need more help for you. Thank you again.
I’m planning going to small aviation college then going to ATP
Atp actually requires 60 hours of college credit prior to starting the school. I am currently looking into them. They will also allow a current college student to do their flex track program and schedule classes around their college schedule. Just some extra info you can pass along to your viewers. Love your content. Just stumbled across your channel.
any update on how ATP is going?
@@ddLoading i didnt end up going. I am using VA benefits. I opted to go to Texas Southern University. I start in September.
Can an international student get a job as a pilot in the USA after doing bachelors in aviation in USA?
How hard is it?
Hi Garrett! I'm new to your channel but I've been doing alot of research on becoming an airline pilot because that is the career I dream of having one day. I'm a little older, 33, but have money saved up and was wondering which direction to take to get to the airlines. It's funny because I was really thinking of going with ATP because they seem like the best and largest flight school nationwide, and they have several campuses near me. Your video may have just pushed me over the edge and I may pull the trigger on making a career change. Thanks for your content and hope you stay safe in these crazy times!
hey there, just curios ,
so have you joined ATP yet?
Yet another insightful video. It was refreshing to hear the path to becoming a pilot from a US point of view, especially given the concept of regional and mainstream (is that what they call it?) airlines. Care to shed any light on why the minimum amount of hours to join one of the major airlines is 1500?
Hey Garrett, could you make a video about the costs of owning a small GA aircraft like Cessna to supplement your time building while being an instructor.
Awesome video! Super helpful
That’s awesome man! I’m at Epic Flight Academy currently and I’m about to take my instrument checkride!
I flight instructed there!
Very useful topic.you are very hardworking and talented too. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
First of all you are so cute 😍
So I live in Martha’s Vineyard and I started to work at MVY 3 years ago as AO and GO for cape air and JB but I always dreamed to be a pilot. I decided start to study on RUclips and find what and where I really need to start. And this video helped me a lot! Thank you
Reading female comments about how handsome this dude is makes me laugh. Just lets me know that whatever women say about men being creeps and pervs, it's all kinda BS. They're just like us. LOL!!!
I got to get back in there. Miss it so much.
ATP really isn't for everyone. They have an extremely fast paced learning system which makes it hard to learn and they also require an associates degree
Is it ATP or ATP CTP??
Could u pl share their link
Not true. Degrees not required at all!
No degree required. ATP for the ones who work hard.
@@ygjrry7847 2 year degree or private pilots license required now
@@Kalashniky Yupp, just found out. Now working towards my private pilots license!
This is dope content coming from an aspiring pilot! I’m 24 with no experience with a plane at all but this is great to hear! Never give up on your dreams. I think I’m going to take your advice at the $80,000 ATP school option.
hey, so did you go for ATP?
more videos learning a lot!

Please record a video on your hardest classes. :)
My husband has worked for Piedmont as ramp/ CSA agent for since November 2014. About 2.5 years ago they came to us and said if you have certain criteria met we want to give you a nice sign on bonus and a contracted spot with us. He has been time build as a CFI/CFII and next week he goes to ATP- CTP training. What tips do you have for FO and ATP training with Piedmont? Did Piedmont pay you while at ATP- CTP course?
Your uniform suits you 🙂
Nice video 👌👍👏
Just did my first lesson today, scheduled to train every day for the next month!
How can you afford this? Do you work before or after training somewhere else?
@@tylerleuschen8132 I worked a job I hated because it paid a lot of money for around 5 years and saved enough for roughly my commercial license and now my wife is covering the rent while I study and fly full time to try and get it done as quick as possible so I can start making money again. If you want to talk exact details I’m more than happy to link up and discuss training if you are interested!
@@tylerleuschen8132 it’s like college
Army WOFT. Either street to seat or prior enlisted/officer. Minimums for military aviators is 750 TT at the regionals. The Army will pay for all of your military flight training and once you reach that 750 mark you are eligible to be hired at a regional. The regionals have rotor transition programs for military and civilian helicopter pilots and if you’re military the regional will pay for it! Because there are fixed wing requirements you still have to meet you have to get your ratings. As a warrant officer in the Army you don’t need a a college degree to be a pilot. Talk your local pilot recruiter guard/reserve/active and they will help you. It’s an excellent path to pick if you have interest flying military aircraft!
Great vídeo 👍👍👍
Nice, keep it so 🤙👍
Perfect video I was looking for you rule thank you
Thanks very helpful video!
Nice video! Quick question/comment. I do agree with you that the degree aspect is becoming obsolete on the regional level, but many mainline/legacy carriers still require or “strongly prefer” at least a 2 year degree. Though not wasting your time on college to get into the regionals as fast as possible sounds appealing, you still do need to consider what is required in progressing your career. I think it always just depends on what kind of flying you want to do, but it is just something to think about.
Every major airline that I've looked at require a bachelor's degree that is why I'm doing college before any flight training
This video makes me happy to know I'm on the right track
What are you doing just wondering
@@StrictlySports working on getting my PPI at a local airport. And I found out I like working on planes too so I might get my A&P as well.
Something to note, you won’t be able to get to mainline carriers without the degree. If you only go to a school like ATP, you’ll be stuck at the regional level. AirlinePilotCentral is a good source to research prospective employers.
Nicholas Leigh exactly... most everybody requires a bachelors degree.
Nicholas Leigh what is to stop you from working on a degree while at regional? Build hours and degree at the same time
Adam Brackston you can do a bachelors degree online too!
After listening to you...I took a ride in a helicopter. I had this horrible fear of flying but then its so better now!
It's more of a fear of facing the unknown than anything else I suppose ! Or maybe a panic attack midair. Basically nerves . I am ok now !Hey you look very handsome too! A bollywood hero! Have gr8 life!
Great video! Thank you :) 👌✈
Although is true that the regional airlines do not require a bachelors degree, if your final goal is to be a legacy airline pilot (Delta, United, American) at the moment they do require a 4 year degree. Something to think about.
Not anymore
Great sir
Thank you
Awesome!
Ayyyyyy cok yakıştı ismime dikkat cekici❤
Becoming a pilot, which is most important and beautiful part of this job?? I think it's pretty cool job for you.
Great vlog Garrett very interesting topic, You certainly know your job Captain big responsibility I would imagine flying passengers all over the world Do you work for United Airlines.
Just got into American airline cadet program working on 890 hours have my IR and my CPL
Nice video mate Cheers
Thanks for the info!
Hi Garrett. Can you please make a video flying and airplane please a cockpit view of departing and landing, can you please. Always very good videos. 🙏🙏 God bless you always blessings 🤗
There's a ATP Flight school an hour away from me! Cool
Thanks for this video 😇
Great content keep it up👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Make a video about your CFI checkride!
that could be a long boring one haha
Captain Garrett,
Thank you for such an informative video!
I didn’t get the part where you talked about building hours and then after you went straight down to AA ??? The school I go to , they offer CFI employment and after building hours, employment with Piedmont Airlines, where after you can get a job w American Airlines...
What school did you attended?
Legacy aviation in PA
Do you recommend at least getting your associate's degree or would it be acceptable to go into the ATP straight out of High School?
Hey Garrett, thank you for the informative blog, and excellent job on the new intro!
It's clear from all the information you provided and the enthusiasm that you are very passionate about being a pilot, as well as inspiring others who may want to do the same.
I look forward to seeing more blogs!
Mentour ,capt j,ditch fly girl,Emily, and now g. Great info
Props to 12 hrs solo. That’s really great
Honestly!! Such an overlooked detail. I watched this video about a year ago but remembered he said this and didn’t think much of it. Now that I’m at 18 hours myself and my instructor telling me I’m most likely going to solo at around 30, I had to come back and address this in a comment lol
Hey man can you do this in high school? I want to be a airline pilot and I feel like the earlier I start that better
It is possible to start the basic training for the private pilot license, and you can do your first solo flight when you are 16, and you will receive the private pilot license when you are 17. After that you can get a commercial pilot license when you are 18.
I left American Airlines SEA base for ramp in 2012 because they tried to get me to breakride in the cockpit for a 757 tow that I was not properly trained for. Could have destroyed the airplane or worse injured some of my ground workers.. Better to quit then to get fired right
About to start my journey on becoming a commercial airline pilot.
How are doing it
Great video! Awesome intro and logo, what editor did you use?
fiverr!
If you are in the United States , American Airlines & Jet Blue Airlines have a cadet ship program to help you become a pilot through them.
Always standby
This was incredibly informative, thank you!
As far as I’m aware, don’t most Major airlines require a bachelors degree to apply? Is the ultimate goal of a airline pilot to advance from regional to major? Or is there even much of a difference?
With a high demand in pilots today, not anymore. However like the inflation that went up on everything, so did the flight schools.
hey. i have a stupid question. please answer. so, all the flights you said that you did like for example marthas vineyard. who keeps track of these flight hours? and how do you show it to the airlines
Ok.Obrigado pela sua vista.🤝🤝🤝
