    John, In less than 6 minutes you answered what hours of searching didn't. I think you are one of the few out there that describe the difference between a Y "splitter" cable and a Y "breakout cable. This is sure to help me make a better final product. Awesome job!!

    Thanks for confirmation that you can do what I thought you should be able to do with the H1N, though many people said it wasn't possible. I think most people have been trying it with the stereo splitter that you first showed (and drawing incorrect conclusions), so I definitely appreciate you showing the correct way to do this!

    Hi. I have the zoom F1. I have the zoom included lav and an Insignia lav. Once connected to the breakout cable sound comes only from the lav connected on the black (tip) side. I swapped the lavs. Same thing. The red (ring) input sounds very low and muffled when the volume is increased to Hi ++. It doesn't show me two mono signals on the display. I'm welcoming any ideas of why this is happening and any possible solutions. Thanks.

      I had the same problem with my Tascam DR07x, same league like the little Zoom. Perhaps you didn't switch on the power for the microphone input in the recorder. A lavalier needs a little juice to work, and the Tascam can provide this - the Zoom should be able, too ...

      @@BarshaThapa did you figure it out Barsha? I think it has to do with the type of cable plug - TRRS vs TRS. Zoom H1n has a TRS mic input. So, if you want to use something like a Rode smartLav+ mic (which is TRRS, designed to be plugged into your mobile phone or laptop), you need a TRRS to TRS adapter.

    Hi John, thanks for this great hack! I'm just starting out in podcasting and will mainly be using the mic solo. I'll occasionally interview someone with me and so have been looking for a good quality mic that could do that. This seems to do just that!! Just one question (apologies if it is a stupid one) but could I use two mics of any kind to connect in, not just lav mics? And bonus stupid question, can you also connect headphones for two people to use?

      Hey man ! Im experiencing the same issue. One of my buddies told me that my mic needs phantom power (48V) and when I looked up the H1N it doesnt support/provide that. I guess we will need to either use a different Lav mic or another Zoom or a Tascam recorder that has the PP 48V

    • @MrJPG1000
      @MrJPG1000 3 года назад

      You don't need phantom power (48 V), this would be too much for a lavalier. You need "Plug In Power", which is only 2 to 3 V. The recorder should be able to switch this on, my Tascam DR07x does.
