  • This thing makes anything I've ever bought graphics card wise look like bad value. Heck I even paid $180 for my GTX 980 Ti back only 2 and a bit years ago! Crazy how the prices have finally fallen!

    Paid $350 before COV (NOV2019) for the GTX1080Ti and boy it has been a very good card for me. Will soon replace with the RTX2080Ti, locally purchased used with a waterblock (incl. original parts: backplate, frame + fan assembly) for $274. Will sell off the waterblock kit for 40~50 dollars...so net it is about $230 out of pocket. The 1080Ti will replace a 1080 in one of my kid's rigs.
    Every now and then, a deal arrives on the local used market that is compelling. I am more than happy to buy a nice used card than shell out funds for a new card of equivalent performance. Prices on the new market remain ridiculous, as far as I am concerned.

    • @DimondDoesTech
      @DimondDoesTech  Год назад

      Very true that. However I'd suggest unless you need Occulink that is only on 20 series I'd really shoot for a 3080 Ti or 3090. You'd be surprised how cheap those are due to miners STILL trying to offload all the cards they bought.

    • @jb678901
      @jb678901 Год назад

      @@DimondDoesTech Would certainly spring for a 3080Ti if the prices (used) were a bit lower. To date, I have yet to see a decent/working 3080Ti for under $500 where I live. Still more than 2x what I paid for a good 2080Ti. With a family in tow...and four PC's in the household...an upgrade on one PC implies an upgrade on at least 2 other PCs! Hence, I have settled upon flagships that are 2 generations behind current release and prefer local used purchases where I can inspect the merchandise before committing.

      @@DimondDoesTech I just sold my 3070 8GB card cuz the V ram wasnt enough for the modern games like ResEvil4, Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk2077 to run them with VR Mods which is Extra demanding that it was not cutting it. Sold my 3070 for 350, and scored locally from seller with a 2080TI with 11GB VRam. I know the Ti variant is better, of course, but it's insane that the only thing I feel like my GTX 1080 is lacking is VRAM. So, the performance and RAM has me looking at a GTX 1080 Ti or RTX 2080 Ti as it's successor. I assume it'll be more the 2080 ti way since I got a 1080 to sell so might as well.

  • @machsaga5141

    Great video, but I wanted to remind you that for VR, depending on the headset you're using (it would've been very useful to mention the model, unless I missed it), you would've gotten very good or very poor results. VR headsets as you know have 2 lenses so you can think of them as 2 separate monitors. If you had a 1440p lens on each eye, that would've been 1440p x 2 that the 1080 Ti had to render and hence the predictably lower performance.

    • @DimondDoesTech
      @DimondDoesTech  Год назад

      I had the resolution at the top near the title for VR games tested. For reference the headset used was a Quest 2 over Airlink. The resolution matters more than headset model as you could get a LOT more fps with similar image quality in steamVR with a resolution more like 2340x2440
