Ah yes, total annihilation via their own op ships and weapons. The just fate of every op mod faction. (Haven’t checked the mod personally, but there seems to be a pattern where it’s rare to find a believable mod faction thats ships and planets don’t give them a huge edge)
The dev is thankfully fully aware the mod is in no way balanced yet, as it's still under very active development. Doesn't make it better, but gives a bit of hope that it might be balanced once more content is out (Which in itself is a problem, cause the dev won't stop adding new shit and redesigning old ships)
If you try Rarr's modlist, you might change your mind. I've been playing with it and everything feels pretty vanilla+ to me, and it's definitely more fun than a pure vanilla run.
@@alert2 Getting semibreves is utterly easy, you can either run into their markets and just wait for it, or follow them into warzones to salvage them. Or, much easier, just make a fleet full of fast ships and hunt one of the missle cruisers. That also gets you one of them.
from what I've seen, the developers of the mod have decided to add all the intended content of the mod then work on balancing once everything else is finished. So there has been no attempts to balance anything just yet. I have no doubt that once they're done adding content and get to balancing that a lot of stuff is gonna get nerfed.
The amount of time and dedication modders put into this game is actually insane, like you can almost put Skyrim to shame with all the crazy mods that are out there.
Look, this game has an impressive library of dedicated modders, including the team behind UAF, but high-quality 3D modeling is infinitely more time consuming. Skyrim mods introduce mechanics that are widely different than what the game developers are even capable of lol.
It would have been sick to use that Back Hole Generator you found in conjunction with the UAF Nukes, the Debris hitting each other would nearly double your damage lol
So few important notes: Purcellyra (The Capital Rarr used at end with Semibreves) was Reworked/Nerfed, now having 2 Large missile slots and 4 Built in missiles. Other thing is semibreve was reworked too, having now base ammo capacity of 2 and new Explosion effect. Really good video, Awaiting for Star federation video on newest version

The capital he uses to mount the Semibreves has been nerfed I think, the large missile mounts on it he uses are now integrated tracking torpedo launchers(no longer can mount semibreves).
he forgot that the Taufan strike fighter wing has the miniature version of the semibreve I always put a minimal of 2 on each of my carriers lmao, while also mounting the OG semibreve itself on the supercarriers
Since you once gave some tips on making a ship good, maybe some day you could inform how to make a good fleet for like each part of the game, like early on, maybe for when you are catching speed and then the type of fleet one would use to erase a whole faction's fleets and planets Also maybe a vid just going through the galatia academy questline
So, around the time he bought the carrier, Rarr re-learned a valuable Starsector lesson. Cap-spamming only works if you can actually spam capital ships. UAF ships are just too deployment-heavy for that and our man almost lost his second ship. Almost. Just a few more recovery ships and some skill points put into industry, and he could have gotten it back no matter how many times it went down.
Just add more dp thru the settings file lol I got it up on 1600 dp, it's just eye candy every time I swarm those Tri tac dudes for stealing my robot -waifus-
Try the Hiigaran Descendants mod. It maybe don't adds that much as HMI, UAF or Tahlan Shipworks, but it's a good mod. Great video, by the way. And the ironic ending.
The best part about the Aurora Federation is that their leaders all have massive Air wings full of extremely cool looking, well designed and powerful craft that really set them apart from the vanilla factions both aestetically and in terms of gameplay.
So start out at the UAF, gain popularity and rank in the UAF, encounter an abyssal horror, get wrecked, take an Aegis armed with nukes, defeat the abyssal horror, learn that it was all caused by a Domain funded phase-powered-hyperspace-mind-screwy device controlled by AI, get megalomania upon collecting said device and using it for yourself, and then destroy the UAF and set up a dictatorship... with the mind-screwy device. This tells me that the right combination of mods can turn Starsector into a horror game.
As someone plays, UAF starts collecting other factions' ships to mitigate UAF's weakness. - UAF heavy carriers have low armor meaning they will be sitting ducks when facing 2 frigate circles around it. (Yep, nearly die because of that) - Their frigates and destroyers are very strong but also very expensive, thus low ord points. (needs S-mods or progress S-Mods to solve this problem) - Their experimental non-shield is very strong as meatshield as a vanguard against the toughest enemy. (needs mod for more survivability and can protect carriers and a powerful AA machine of death)
Might I suggest the MVS (Machina Void Shipyards) for a playthrough? All their ships are quite expensive but really high tier. It also has a capital ship that is literally just one big railgun with a ship built around it. And a pretty insane carrier. All their ships are also Energy and Ballistic weapon Hybrids.
You actually followed its description saying; only used as a last resort weapon. You may be incompetent, but i respect someone who doesn't spam semibrev warheads left and right
@Rarr One cannot move until the black hole generator cannon is fired. If you overflux during the charge, you'll need to wait for your flux to diminish and shortly charge it again.

I got a quest to defend their main star fortress against an enormous invading fleet (strength 160K). The reward was 110 MILLION CREDS, no joke. I was woefully underequipped, but decided to accept because I figured that with the fortress and a bunch of their patrols loitering nearby we might just pull it off. Turns out I didn't even have to do anything: the system patrols ripped that invading fleet apart. Easy money!
Fun fact, the black hole generator pulls in missiles and mines! So if you happened to have ANOTHER superweapon that shoots out a bunch of nuclear mines across the hole map, and then fire the blackhole generator...
People can rattle on endlessly about it being unbalanced (despite the author stating repeatedly that it's not gonna even resemble a balanced state for quite a while), but nothing in this world feels better than four semibreves. Nothing.
Midline stations are good if you have some OP guided (!) missile blueprints. 4 large slots of never ending death -- that use most flux just to shield themselves, and are out of range half the time.
Btw there are bombers with mini-Semibreve torpedes, these are in in my opinion much stronger, since you can have carrier with 2 bays for 12 deployment points, each bay can house 2 of these bombers and each bomber has 2 of these torpedos. So you get 8 mini-nukes for 12 DP. Thats what i call fun

I actually expected UAF to be more overpowered considering the massive hype, but I don't feel it, in my current version anyways. In fact, I think they could stand to be more overpowered. They are considerably weak in quite a few departments. Their main saving grace is Nakiha(SP). Since they're a faction mod anyways and literally not from the same universe or dimension, I can stand for them to be a bit extreme and different from everyone else. Choco lava anyone?

Radical large missile pods ship gets rework. And no longer equips with 4 Semibraves because the four large missile pods are build-in with the ship's own unique missiles. The only thing that ruins this mod is that there is basically no balance. It's just straight up overpowered. It looks pretty, it sounds awesome but there will be no challenge.
Eh, depends on what ships you get. So far my UAF capital ships still get their asses kicked by stuff like a certain type of [REDACTED]. Also, the current Legio Infernalis can more than give them a good challenge.
It didn't last long, but seeing a UAF fleet get crushed by literally anything was nice. 'Course then it was back to the status quo of making Legio Infernalis and Hivers about as potent as a fart on the wind.
Try Hiver Sarmer its fun mod with 1 capital, one eyes cruiser and seven frigates i killed 3 pirate fleets, it was intence. I did fight 5 crusers, 4 freighters, 17 frigates, 9 phase ships, 12 destroyers fight did last 1h. My hands started to hurt man i can still feel releaf i feelt when i won with just capital at verry low hp.
Personally my favourite thing from the UAF is the Fusoreina P battleship; it has no shields and instead uses a damper field and has an accelerated ammo feeder system. I put on unstable injector and whatever other speed increasing hullmod along with any hullmod that increases my hp and armour and then I slap on a bunch of storm needlers and heavy chainguns. With that build you can rush into the middle of the enemy and cause havoc, I even managed to face both the Ares and Zeus IBB bounty head on and destroy both of them (although I was left with no hull remaining afterwards).

Yeah, the dev's have been made aware of the balance issue. However, they constantly get distracted with creating more content for their faction. XD
To balance against the UAF, give the Space Doritos higher stats and fortress shields on top of their already OP weapons and time warping.

Untill stumbled on a 400k UAF bounty fleet with 2 Pulcellyras with those Semibrews anti-everything torps.

A single UAF Rillaru or Purcellyra equipped with four MATSARs from Stop Gap Measures can wipe out entire fleets... 😎
It didn't last long, but seeing a UAF fleet get crushed by literally anything was nice. 'Course then it was back to the status quo of making Legio Infernalis and Hivers about as potent as a fart on the wind.

Try Hiver Sarmer its fun mod with 1 capital, one eyes cruiser and seven frigates i killed 3 pirate fleets, it was intence. I did fight 5 crusers, 4 freighters, 17 frigates, 9 phase ships, 12 destroyers fight did last 1h. My hands started to hurt man i can still feel releaf i feelt when i won with just capital at verry low hp.
Nah, cluster torpedo is still more fun than some unbalanced nukes.
How about you salvage yourself a Rampage or Cataclysm (Seeker Unknown mod) and solo ship your way through conquering the galaxy?
Personally my favourite thing from the UAF is the Fusoreina P battleship; it has no shields and instead uses a damper field and has an accelerated ammo feeder system.
I put on unstable injector and whatever other speed increasing hullmod along with any hullmod that increases my hp and armour and then I slap on a bunch of storm needlers and heavy chainguns.
With that build you can rush into the middle of the enemy and cause havoc, I even managed to face both the Ares and Zeus IBB bounty head on and destroy both of them (although I was left with no hull remaining afterwards).
