A great dish for January, this salad makes steak go further than traditional steak and chips - and the Asian aromatics such a chilli and ginger are incredibly good for you. Give it a go.
I gave this a shot last night while making it for my fiance`.
Chef, you do God's work!
simpli garlic, run with spanihs salmorejo, my friend , thank you
overtasted
Nice dish. Does the fish sauce round out the dressing and become homogenous?
When I make a Caesar I paste my anchovies (I don't really like fish sauce or anchovies on their own, but when added to something else [like Pad Thai] it makes the dish). I couldn't imagine a Caesar or a Pad Thai without the anchovies and fish sauce.
N
Watching this as I eat a bowl of cereal for dinner
fat!
Benito De Leon hahahahah I'm laughing because I've been there......a few too many times.
Hope you seasoned that cereal properly with some Salt, Pepper, Olive Oil and lightly toasted it.
😂

Thanks mate, don't quite know what to say but, thanks!
LMAO why are you down here?
Who are you talking to Gordon? You wally.
His wife is so damn lucky. She gets to wake up and go to bed having eaten the best food in the world.
+Matthew Coleman oooh yeeesss!
Matthew Coleman this is a year old comment, but his wife is supposedly an amazing cook herself. According to Gordon's daughter anyway
I watched somewhere that Gordon's wife Tana Ramsay does the cooking in their household esp. for their children. She has published several books herself as well.
Phillip Amura naaaaaah
and always gets two fingers in front and one behind..
Gordon: How to make the perfect boiled water
1: heat up some olive oil in the pan
My god, this man's passion for food and how he explains it all is fantastic. I first heard of this guy from the NA version of Hell's Kitchen. Ahh to be a teen and to believe everything you see on TV. There's a lot of great chefs in the world out there, but his personality when presenting these recipes and steps for cooking is so engaging. I don't have the motivation to be as good as he is, but I respect him so much, especially in the way that he respects the ingredients that he uses.

You go Ramsay!
"Now those nuts are really toasted" LOL 5:07
:)
Steven Yu XD
I made this IT WAS SOOO GOOD! I think I finally know how to cook a perfect steak now. I used NY strip steak. The salad dressing was wonderful! I added fresh grated ginger to it!!
You think it's perfect Gordon thinks you're a idiot sandwich 😂😂
Just joking ❤️
What was that season he used in the beginning of the video
Did you?????
Chef Ramsay, you never seem to lose your excitement for cooking and that is to be admired.
It’s such a small moment but I love the fact that the dressing Ramsey made was at least partially inspired by his visit to Asia/Vietnam, it shows that not only did he pay attention but actually remembered and now implements it into his own cooking which I just love.
Flip them once and once only. Proceeds to flip the steaks 3 times
@Vela S how so? He DEFINITELY flips more than once
Only once at each side....
Your tablespoons are equivalent to my 2-3 tablespoons lol
joe nolan * Joe Nolan*
@blanket53wc are you ok? Did you even read what you wrote
@@mikehunt4830 he's right. 'tablespoons' in measurements are larger than the ones we actually use at the table nowadays.
It's just like his pinch of olive oil... Might as well have used a super soaker
I really love and admire him! I respect that he can eat, enjoy and cook food from many culture. Asia, specially Vietnam has many good food. In his videos I see Gordon cooked some Vietnamese food and bring them to the top level. I'm so thankful and happy for that!
Vietnamese food is really bland compared to Thai.
I love Gordon’s recipes as they are very easy to follow and packed full of flavour. I’m a fan and always recommend.
I like the way Gordon combines western and asian cuisine perfectly and he is very open to share his secret and how he lifts up the flavour :)) great recipe. Highly recommend!
I made this salad and it tastes so amazing! I'm a new fan of Chef Ramsay. Thank you for this delicious recipe.
I'm thai and this is one of my favourite dish!!well done Mr. Ramsey
one of my fav dishes, very quick and simple to make yet flavorful.
This man, is amazing. Makes me love and appreciate cooking like no other.
Vietnam salad, I love the cuisine of Vietnam, Vietnam dish rich and diverse. I live in Vietnam and I'm glad to see Chef Gordon Ramsay cooking my country.
Thanks chef
+Hải Lê If chef Ramsay's cooking Vietnam, then God save you all from olive oil abuse .
+Waliul Islam what do you mind?
Well, too much olive oil gives food a dank cloth type smell.
+Waliul Islam I c. thanks u
it didn't stop america from trying back then
I bought the book where this recipe is and I prepared it once and then again and again. That dressing became my absolute favorite and I'm using it for many other salads too! Really delicious! I also tried sesame seeds or almonds instead of peanuts, and other variations too. Fantastic!
I love Gordon Ramsay so much! I want to work with food one day, and he's my big inspiration! just love everything about him
Its a great pleasure to just watch you cook!! Love it!!
For Gordon, everything is the "most amazing"
Just add your sauce....NOT TOO MUCH THOUGH, DON'T DROWN IT!
Then your salad
Then your sauce...not too much
Then your steak
Then a bit more sauce
Then some more salad....with sauce
Then peanuts
And just to finish it off....WITH.....just a bit....more sauce.....BUT NOT TOO MUCH DON'T DROWN THE FUCKER!!!
SheenaMurrayVEVO when you add more ingredients, you add more sauce... because the other ingredients aren’t coated with the sauce.
i've never had such fine food as you make Gordon...yet i've tried a few of your recipes....i love what you do to a "perfectly cooked steak"....and this salad looks just divine.....i really must try this recipe...
thank you so much for giving us a lot of delicious and easy recipes
*Tries Chili Dressing* ...
*Has Vietnam Flashbacks*
i'm scared to try these because i feel like he's going to yell at me
dank2001 ITS RAAAAAW!!!

Sara Posiewka Oh my goshhhh you wouldn't believe many peoples like red meat includes my partner, he loves red meat!!
Made this tonight and it's really tasty! The dressing is amazing.
Watching these videos in the middle of the night and getting hungrier every second
I know I'm watching it on RUclips, but I feel like I should be paying for it.
No! Stop that line of thinking or else we will at some point!
he gets money from this anyway, dude, trust me. it's called a youtube network and a partnership
Chilli.. Lime.. Fish Sauce...
**VIETNAM FLASHBACK**
Amazing! This guy does magic and he is so nice to listen to!
Just made this for the first time, following roughly the instructions from the book. Went super well. The dressing is surprisingly awesome.
“You can see that wonderful marble”
*no marbling whatsoever*
Tommy Tsunami LOL hey buddy seems like youre a bit mad
that dressing so good, my friend from Laos taught me it :)
+Sebastian Rogers Yes it is my friend
Amazing. I definitely wanna make this. Like all the complex flavors.
I just made this dish. It turned out delicious. Thanks chef.
Little touch of salt - whole container
Harper Cooper Nah Thats just way too exag
It's sea salt, imagine a thin flaky salt. Totally different to table salt.
gordon: there should be no white fat left anywhere
me: [gestures broadly across the US]
What a gorgeous kitchen Gordon has! He's earned it, sure enough.
I'm always attracted to and inspired by people who demonstrate a genuine passion for their craft. Gordon Ramsay is no exception.
In my opinion steak medium rare is best as the main dish, not in something else. Like in a salad, places always serve it in doused in sauce (I always soak my salads ins ranch lol) so the steaks don't need to be juicy in salads, as their already is the flavor from the dressing.
There's still a difference to him that he prefers the steaks to be juicy on their own at the same time. It does depend on personal preference, as anything else in life, yeah.
4:31 "just slice that fat off" AAGGH my inner American, it hurts, IT HURTS
halowaffles fat on a steak is fucking disgusting
So much passion for your cooking Chef Ramsay.
Oh wow, looks delicious. I am so happy that you experienced Cambodia and Vietnam cooking, I have been to Cambodia several times and the sauce you make here is one of my all-time favourites, best made in small batches and fresh. I absolutely love this beef salad variation to one I had in Cambodia where they mix with tomatoes, shallots and also add fresh chopped coriander. I have discovered that this sauce makes a great variation to shrimp salad; is fabulous with cubed fresh ripe avocado and chopped shrimp.
LAUGH OUT LOUD when he said "in vietnam"
why???
+Quang Hậu it made it sound like he fought in Vietnam lol
Only Americans will understand.
+ECURB511 he's Scottish
Shinn Asu
yeah and he said it like an american which is what makes it funny
"Don't flood the salad with sauce"
*15 scoops of sauce* wtf
I really like the way you cook . It seems quick and look yummy
He makes it look so effortless, wish I could do this.
i love how gordon always calls things easy or simple then proceeds to use like 15 fresh ingredients
Rafael Artiga ikr
well if u are lazy and microwave stuff its hard for you. i have always cooked fresh bc my mom has always cooked fresh, just like ramsay. i guess the applr dosent fall far from the tree 😂
unbranded bleach did she also not know how to spell?
So delicious, so healthy!
Not really, you're still eating a steak.
BoltReel
Especially when you're drizzling the fat back on the steak.
Yup :P
BoltReel Better than eating said steak with a potato covered in sour cream and butter, with more buttered bread on the side, eh? This IS healthier.
BoltReel Digested animal fat doesn't turn into human fat it's actually quite healthy for you studies have shown.
That is the best way to make the salad, so tasty, enjoyable.
I love to make salad with adding some fish sauce.
Thanks
Gordon Ramsey gives me so many ideas for my family of 5 boys it's great thanks gordon
Does he cook like this every day? Does he never just make kraft dinner or something
1 Subscriber No Videos I don't think he always cooks probably his wife do the cooking
1 Subscriber No Videos He always eats like this. Always. His version of kraft dinner would be a 5 star meal for some. He probably doesn't always cook, but when your standards get that high, you always eat like this
Macaroni and cheese*
Squires *toss frozen pizza in microvawe
that salad is so vietnamese-ish
I watch so much Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, It's weird seeing a casual, happy Ramsay.. It's awesome xD
I think Gordon's voice and the sound of him cooking is my asmr trigger
I want to make at least half of what the chef is making...BUT I BARELY HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR A SODA AT A CONVIENCE STORE! how does he expect us (me) to make something as incredible as this, with out having the money to buy the ingredients?! do I have to just bullshit my way through the meal? is there a cheaper dish for us (me) to make and eat?
if you barely have enough money for a soda at the convenience store, I doubt you can buy anything to cook at all
Sakata Nagisa i can ask my mother, we just got our income
This recipe is very affordable if you cut on the steak/use cheaper cuts or change to chicken breasts stir fried with loads of onions and lemongrass. Carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, shallots and peanuts are enough but you need all the stuff he used for the sauce.
If you're looking for easy, cheap recipes, try Brothers Green Eats channel on RUclips. They make $5 meals and $30 meals a week recipes and stuff like that. Even cheap vegetarian and vegan recipes. (:
You shouldn't even be thinking of soda, especially if you don't have that much money to spend. Don't even be thinking about cooking like this. Just buy bare minimum healthy foods (free range, organic chicken eggs), organic salad, wild caught fish (bristle / sardines) and etc. Yes, organic might be a bit more expensive, but what is your health worth to you, when you're sitting in a hospital one day with a serious illness because you didn't take care of your body years ago?
Health should always be priority, no matter how much or how little money you make.
There is no scientific evidence to suggest that organic foods are better for your health. The pesticides found in ordinary food are too minimal to actually do any damage. It's a waste of money, especially if one can't even afford to buy a can of coke.
Thai
I'll never get over how amazing his kitchen is
This looks amazing! Minus the peanuts of though, I'd like to not die. Thanks you for the inspiration.
Wow... I really hate when big chefs don't agree on stuff. Gordon says here to flip the steak once, and once only, whilst Heston Blumenthal, which I also have enormous respect for, says to flip the steak every 15 seconds. What to believe..?
Try both and stick with what you think makes the steak taste best.
Hehe, I'll have to!
Most chefs say turn once and once only. Thats for the purpose of having an even color through the steak. The way Heston does it, however, is he keeps flipping it and cooking it evenly on each side so it'll stay evenly colored. It's all about preference and method. They both will work really.
There is actually another video on RUclips where Gordon says to flip regularly to prevent burning lol. Both methods work.
These videos are all vaguely sexual
All cooking videos are sexual.
***** better than sex-lol
***** "always lay away". And at home. Just don't let them find out about each other.
an soobs You uh... you ok there?
***** You know how else is REALLY sexual when she cooks? It's another Brit named Nigella Lawson. She's a great cook, but I bet a bunch of people are jacking off when they watch her cook.
Super healthy salad ,We love it ,Thanks very much Gordon Ramsay
Great chef, great teacher, beautiful recipes
This salad is as complicated as some surgeries
"turn them once and once only" and then turns it another time. liar. you know "bringing it to room temperature for 20 minutes" does nothing. It brings internal temperature up by 2-3°F in those 20 minutes which is fuck all.
I've been looking all around, but try as I might, I just can't seem to find your Michelin Star anywhere.....
You sound like a jackass, trying to teach Gordon Ramsay how to cook. It's also for flavor and tenderness, fucking douchebag.
Ollie Nicholls did he not say turn them once and once only and then turned them another time? yes he did. does bringing it to room temperature for 20 minutes actually bring it to room temperature, no, it doesn't.
do tell where I'm wrong.
***** guess what, I am a jackass and a fucking douchebag. so is ramsey. it doesn't change the fact that I'm right.
Gordon Ramsey's has touched damn near every aspect of cooking. In the kitchen and out, I like he got the right to a high standard, where most of his doucheness come from. He's really a nice guy outside the kitchen. Your just a douchebag for no reason, and your wrong, have no skill, and no one has heard of you. As Ramsay says "fuck off, will you?"
This looks phenomenal. I'd love to try this!
Amazing chif iwill try to made it . Its look so delicious
Why the nuts? I'm afraid that'd ruin it
My nuts ruin everything too.
Peanuts are very common in Thai and Vietnamese dishes, especially in salads. It does seem odd, but works very well in these sorts of dishes. It adds texture and balance to dishes that tend to be lacking in crunch.
But Gordon its raw.
this looks incredible .. definitely have to try it!
Watching Ramsay's channel at night is a torture.
Is Gordon white?
Hes from England and also white
Opps i thought he was brittish thnx for the info lol
He is British he's from Scotland
Ohhhh ok
The piss, I am taking it
Stupidly expensive.
What?
@@TheGunhunter3 For a lot of people this salad, as good as it may be, is quite expensive to make on a regular basis. The meat isn't cheap after all ;-)
Wow ! Definitely recipe I have been looking for ! Make it tmr :)
i really wish i could cook like this.. i'm really good at following recipes and cooking basic foods but this is intuition
Why is he cooking a south eastern Asian dish using olive oil -.- also this a Thai/Lao salad not Vietnamese
***** True, well thats what i thought he was trying to do at first. i was like what kinda larb is this XD
You really tryna tell Gordon Ramsay how to cook? Lol
+Luck They love they larb don;t they.
***** I had a larb recently the lemongrass and chilli kick is so good. I live for those flavours.
He said the sauce came from Vietnam and Cambodia, it's true Vietnamese using fish sauce this way to make Nuoc Cham.
Great dish for the 50ºC we are having now in Rio. That will be our lunch tomorrow. Thanks!
Very refreshing Mr Ramsay not the dish but you not swearing. Yes you can do it. The recipe was mouth watering as well.
I love the way you cut your unions/shallot really fast and thin!
I cant wait to try this! Look Excellent!
That was delicious
Just made it for lunch today and it's truly a great meal

Wow amazing flavors, wonderful textures in a spicy salad with steak Thank you for compatilhar Gordon Ramsay !
Made this tonight. It was absolutely excellent.
Real pleasure watching a passionate gentlemen cook. Thanks very much. Any chance you could tell or show us a video of making really nice tender kebabs? Pork, chicken and lamb? Using different marinades? I know I'm asking alot but it doesn't hurt to ask as they say ;-)
Gordon you got so much talent and so much equipment i envy you
This is so incredibly relaxing
You know what, I just realised, it really is :)
That Green Day guitar riff at the end though
Thank you Gordon Ramsey, for sharing all of this. You are my favorite. I'm always learning from you :)
Wonderful dish lots of color and no doubt very tasty.
