I really like the 2024 Baker's 13. As you mention, it's a much more well rounded bourbon than the 7 year (mine is also 8Y7M). Over about a month of time the 7 really improved for me. If the 13 does the same, I will be very happy. I found my 13 for $110 at TW in TX. Cheers!
Bakers 7 is one of favourite go to bottles over here it's one of the cheaper options at around $95-$115AUD and at the 107proof that's a bargain in Australia.... I hope the 13yr becomes available here at some point or my local bourbon bar gets a bottle so I can try... HAPPY NEW YEAR PETER 🎉 and thanks for videos this year loved everyone of them... Looking forward to seeing what you do next year..... Dram on Peter Dram On 🥃 🥃🥃
@whiskeyisajourney LESSSS GO BRING ON 2025..and bring on a New Year of Bourbon and Whisky.. Just for another reference of price and value down these ways.. I picked up bottle of "Old Ezra 7yr" at 117proof 58.5%for $103 absolute bargain for here.. and I don't mind it good higher proof one affordable bar sipper.. have you had that one what you think..
Thank you Nick! Our next event is January 17th and 18th in Bullhead City Arizona at the 10th annual Slab-O-Rama Barbeque Challenge. Cooking a test brisket tomorrow for New Year's Eve. Cheers!
Any other viscous naturally presented cherry heavy bourbons anyone recommends at 46% or higher- i am primarily a peated scotch with sherry finish lover for reference - great videos- i appreciate your content
A comprehensive review as always🥃. I had a feeling the 13 year old might be slightly overoaked. Do any of these bottles contain that "Peanutty" profile certain Jim Beam products like Knob Creek are known for..? I've been somewhat hesitant to try a Baker's because of it. Also, have you tried the High Rye 7 year old..? Just curious to know if the higher rye content neutralizes that floral profile I dislike as well. Thanks.
I did not pick up on the nutty note, but my brother in law did. As far as the Baker's 7 high rye goes I have not had it so I can't comment on that one. I should also add that this was the first time I picked up a floral note in the 7. Happy new year! Cheers to 2025!
The pour of the 13 I had at a whiskey bar was way too oak forward. The Baker’s 7 (8yr1mo) and Knob Creek 15 I have are much better. I think the $35 Beam SB I have is a more flavorful pour than that 13 too. There’s been way too many subpar LE’s for the prices these distilleries are charging. Great comparison at the end. Cheers 🥃
I agree with the overpriced subpar LE's for sure. I hope the price of those bottles will come down soon. As more people leave them on the shelf. Happy New Year!
Somehow my 13 tastes more like a 7 based on your feedback. I like Beam products well enough, but there will not be another Baker's 13, either at a bar or in my cabinet.
I like this bottle, but not enough to get another one. It falls into the category of I'm happy to have it and share it with others that are curious, but won't replace it. Happy new year!
Appreciate the support! You are in for 3. I think I will spin the wheel on Wednesday. My sister is coming over to shoot a sip or skip. I will have her spin the wheel for the winners this month. Best of luck!

Curious what you would score the 7. I think I can get that here.
On it's own without comparison to the 13 I already gave it a 3.75. I reviewed it a year ago when I did my single barrel series.
