These trucks are fine if you change your oil. Most clowns think these complicated engines are good running the same oil for 7k... 8k... 10k miles. That's where the issues come from. You can run a 20 weight oil in a direct injection engine for 7k+ miles and expect wear and sludge deposits to not occur.
They need to be held accountable for the AFM issues. They have known about that problem for well over a decade and they have refused to do anything about it.
Or they rolled the equity they had in the truck they currently owned into the purchase of a new truck like this and their payment is relatively manageable. Not everybody buys a truck and drives it into the ground before buying a new one all over again. The biggest irony is that GM's prices are some of the more reasonable in the truck market. Which is why sales were UP in 2024 despite the economy.
@hochhaul thats exactly what i said. if gm's prices are so high why have gmc and chevy trucks combined been beating fords f-series sales numbers the past few years? these are all clickbait videos
I can almost guarantee that in less than 5k miles you'll be at the dealership for stabilitrak sensor this and wire harness that, transmission shakes from this sensor or random error codes that keep coming back. They always say ahh is all covered in warranty.. but does that give you back the time from your life, hours and hours spent waiting at the dealership waiting wondering what's the next thing is going to break, year after year until the warranty runs out or your patience lol
I have PTSD from owning a GMC truck, always in fear on the highway towing a boat and then like a WW2 bomber that got hit with flak, lights start flashing and truck shaking and slowing down with tractor trailers all around doing 80, desperately looking for a place to stop so I can reset the computer and at least make it out of the highway.. then take it to the dealership that keeps it for a week or so just so I can repeat it a few weeks later lol
@ IKR!....It only takes 1 catastrophic failure on a lonesome, empty highway complete with vultures and scarecrows to rattle you to the core! I blew a tranny on the way to Las Vegas in the middle of nowhere....never trusted that car ever again!

Just bought a 2016 F150 XL single cab, 8 foot bed. Only had 38k mi. Garage kept and well maintained. Vinyl seats and floors. No cruise control, manual crank windows. Basic basic basic. $18k. It is shameful. Same truck in 2024 now new is close to $45k…..for a basic truck!!!!! Manufacturers and dealers will pay the ultimate price when they have to give there vehicles away to get them off the lots. If I were buying one(and it was priced right) I would buy a 100k extended warranty because they’re all garbage compared to vehicles in the past!!!!
Even comes with a 5 year 100k mile warranty. I originally wanted to buy a CCLB F-150 Lariat but they wanted $10k more and offered worse financing. Ford prices are hurting their sales numbers. Their Superduty trucks are even worse priced. I bought a new 2024 Silverado LTZ Max Tow 3.0 Duramax CCLB. After trade I owe $28k.
At this point, these car companies are either blind or out of their freaking minds to be pricing their cars at these absurd prices when they still have 2023 cars on dealership lots.
My 2021 Silverado with the L87 6.2L has been sitting at the dealer for 6 weeks now waiting for a replacement engine. Rod bearing failure at 59k miles. There are 4 vehicles with the same issue waiting at this dealer. The engines are on back order and I don't expect to get my truck back before summer. Yay.
Lemon law if it's within the powertrain warranty. If a vehicle sits at a dealer for months, expect to get it back damaged. Dealers don't care when they don't own it.
Quick question, did yours throw an engine code if you ran regular unleaded? Mine would run on nothing but super or it got a check engine and it would shutter
@ - No codes. It just started knocking in the lower end. Not even a bad knock, I almost didn't take it in, but it is still under warranty. The knock was noticeable at low speeds, but over 20 mph I couldn't hear it. I fill 87 every other fill up, 91-93 the other 50%..
Also, Chevy Ford and Dodge got together and created a monopoly. They offer black interior ONLY!!!! On All vehicles, including the Corvette,……………Unless you Splurge and buy the Top of the line model and then there’s only one other color to choose from. 🤬
All of the truck manufacturers are producing nothing but pure..."junk, rubbish, refuse, garbage, landfill, and unreliable rolling junkpiles." Then, on top of that...they are asking a TON of money for their "rolling junkpiles." For some strange reason...that doesn't seem to make much sense to me! Gee...I wonder why! For the CEO's of these manufacturers, it all boils down to two words..."greed and stupidity." Now, they have to see what that brings them.
haven't had any issues with the last couple GM trucks I've owned. my 2019 was great, traded it last year because I needed the max tow package. The 2024 has been fine. GM prices are the lowest of all the full-size truck brands, hence why their sales have increased every year for the last three years despite all the hysterical internet claims about active fuel management.

Greedy? GM trucks are typically lower priced than equivalent trims from other brands. Hence why their trucks sales have been up for the last three or four years in a row and they're outselling Ford, Ram, and Toyota. If you want to see greed, go look at Ram's pricing in recent years. Same with Ford. They were the two brands that were in a competition to see who could sell a half-ton for $100k+. Ford got there, Ram shortly after.
It isn't just vehicles its everything. Unsustainable Greed has taken over every aspect of modern society, meaning that in the long term it is NOT a matter of IF things will collapse, but WHEN they will.
After 45 years of a Chevy man Im done i sold my last 2 GM vehicles 2006 HHR custom and 2008 Avalanche I had enough with quality ,pricing , AFM, transmission issues, oil consuption Dealership lying on oil consuption tests were they overfill it so it doesnt burn a quart every 1000 miles, replaces engine in equinox , head gasket cause of dexcool in our uplander, ignition switch in HHR, filed out plugs on Avalanche AFM every 5000 miles on the deactivated cylinders I turned to Toyota .
The standard for oil consumption with GM passenger vehicles is 1 quart every 2000 miles. Even if a dealer slightly overfilled it, which I see no reason for them to do considering it's not their money, that's not enough oil to throw off a 1 quart every 2000 miles consumption limit. Head gaskets are caused by owner ignorance. You do have to change coolant every once in a while or the coolant will go bad and cause problems. Maintenance isn't optional. Hilariously, my past Toyotas blew more head gaskets than my GM trucks yet I'm sure you would tell me they don't have any problems. Oh and it's TOYOTA that says burning 1 quart every 1200 miles is "normal" oil consumption. GM actually has the higher standard of 1 quart every 2,000 miles. You're so clueless there's no help for you.
@@hochhaul I will accept the clueless comment and no help for me. But I always did a regular dealership maintenance schedule so I will admit i'm not an auto mechanic apparently you are. But this is what I have experienced over my 45 years of operating a GM vehicle .I drive a company Toyota Tacoma and the regular scheduled oil change is 7000 miles and have never had to add oil and I check it weekly. And my wife drives a RAV4 and we never added oil between maintenance visits to the dealership. I check the oil and and always good. I apologize, I'm not as experienced as you. And for the oil consumption test was on a 2010 equinox that had scaring in the cylinder walls at only 10,000 miles and one year old the dealership did replace the motor thank God. It was on there dime they did an oil change and I pulled the dip stick before i left and the oil was 2 inches over the full mark. And to boot the motor that they sent had the wrong cam and they had to take the old cam from the old motor to make the car functional it only took 3 weeks on a 1 year 10,000 mile new car. I always defended GM but I can't no more.
It's not just GM it's Ford and Dodge/chrysler even Toyota and other OEM'S. Most OEM'S are making trucks and cars as cheap as possible with basic junk and wanting a fortune for that junk. One just has to look at all the recalls and problems across the board. I believe like most it's corporate greed and they are hoping that they make more money than what the cost of any recall is worth. Heck a person can barely do any of thier own maintenance The OEMS have made things so difficult. Wonder why these OEMS are having problems moving inventory. Just my opinion things got worse when covid came and supply and demand had problems this allowed OEMS to charge what they wanted as they had buyers over a barrel to a certain point.
Many times it is. Clowns these days think it's fine to wait until 7k miles to change the oil and then they wonder why a complicated lifter that locks and unlocks a thousand times a minute eventually acts up.
That’s absolutely crazy! I bought my 2023 Chevy Silverado TrailBoss with the 6.2 brand new on the lot in 2023 for 57k in Arizona, doesn’t even make sense
I made the mistake of buying a new silverado crew cab with the 6.2l, DFM fuel mgmt, max trailer. The motor tore itself apart on the freeway at 70mph on cruise. Cam shaft, bearings, lifters, rods all a mess. It didn't even make its 1st oil change. It even ruined to radiator system. The 6.2l motors are being replaced by the masses. Lots of Cadillac escalade owners received letters to bring their vehicles in, but I never received any such letter. I was waiting over 8 weeks for them to start to get a new motor ( on back order). I called an attorney and filed a lemon law and GM purchased my truck, but it took months with all the run around. They did not make good on the tax savings on the 40k from my trade in, as I had to pay that. Then they want you to sign a contract that says they did, as well as a power of attorney for title transfer. I went and bought a new truck that didn't have any of the shit technology used in it. why do you think GM dropped their power train warranty from 100k down to 60k. They know their crap has major issues.
An American truck with parts from china/italy/mexico, assembled partly in Mexico, imported in Missouri and stamped as made in USA for the price a house used to be lol
Stop paying those prices. These are bloated overweight trucks that the vast majority of people do not need. Chevy makes absolutely nothing I want. I don't want an SUV or truck. They don't even offer a reasonably priced car anymore.
I immediately bought a Bully Dog programmer for my 2011 5.3 Silverado and deleted active fuel management before 2500 miles. My engine has been perfect. Edit: I still drive that truck daily.
Left GM due to the 2.4 4 cyl Oil Consumption debacle. Yep, went to Jeep, had a '16 Cherokee that made it 97K and traded it for Jeep Grand Cherokee in '24 and paid 13K less than that Traverse and I have 4x4 and a nice V6 and 8 spd transmission that wasn't designed with Ford.
Bummer, because Chevy will likely be my choice for new truck when the time comes. My old 2000 Chevy S10 has a V6 4.3, and it's half the size of these trucks. I bet those Colorados don't even have trailer hitches either.
You're looking at ZR2's you clown, they have high end Multimatic brand spool valve shocks and a heavily upgraded suspension, of course it's expensive. It's basically their Raptor. Hilariously 71k for one of their top trim levels is cheap compared to Ram, Ford, or even Toyota.
I'll always remember my first Silverado. It was a 2003 Silverado LS with the Z-71. There was a recall for the tail gate cables. Apparently some bean counter figured they could save money by going from stainless steel to galvanized cables--wrong! The galvanized ones started to corrode and break. So I had to take my Silverado in for the real McCoy cables. I currently own a 2017 Silverado LTZ with the Z-71. I bought a Range Tech to keep it in 8 cylinder mode all day, every day. So far I've had no troubles with it. However, a owner of a local axle shop told me that the rear-ends in them are flawed. And much like a timing chain can jump timing and destroy an engine, the pinion and ring gears can jump and destroy each other. He's recommending that I swap out the rear end.
Let’’em go bankrupt. Hopefully the new administration won’t bail them out this time. He was upset after Ford made a decision to stop selling sedans in the US.
Guess I’m the only one here. Love my Trail Boss, it’s incredible. Owned it for years, plan to get another one when the time comes. It’s a nice truck, it’s what the market demands. Prices fluctuate.
Then by all means, step up, slap your $80k down, and have yourself a go. My last truck purchase was a ‘21 Tacoma off road long bed fully loaded, with the naturally aspirated, reliable V-6 for $41k out the door tax, license, and all…. Won’t even consider this over teched crap… Have at it 👌👌👏👏👏👍👍👍😵💫😵💫😵💫
THAT LIFTER ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOREVER!!! THEY COULDN'T COME UP WITH A STRONGER LIFTER THAT WOULD HOLD UP? THEY SEEM TO DO IT ENGINE AFTER ENGINE!! THEY COME OUT WITH SOMETHING NEW DON'T EVEN GET THE BUGS OUT OF IT AND THERE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE? WE NEED NEW SMARTER ENGINEERS!!!
Getting rid of the stupid active fuel management system would be a start (although, I believe if you manually put the tranny in L8 it will deactivate it).
Typically, it is not the engineer's fault. It is in an engineer's nature to build like a tank. The bean counters however, don't let them do that anymore to save time and money. Even if a component or assembly is known to be faulty, the corporate suits don't give a damn. Engineers are no longer in control of design and testing... corporate suits who know nothing about engineering are. That... is the problem. As an engineer for about 40 years... I speak from experience. Today's vehicles are a nightmare, brought to you by people who know nothing about them or how to make them.
Hey Thomas love that content man you just speak the truth one thing to note that traverse was a fwd high country like i get fwd on lower end models but awd should be standard on a high country but i guess thats how they get you to or almost to 60k when you have to add awd insane

GM big profits last year.. people are paying these prices , or at least going out on 9 years loans for them
Sign of the times everything is out of control w. GM is doing to the work man.
An American truck with parts from china/italy/mexico, assembled partly in Mexico, imported in Missouri and stamped as made in USA for the price a house used to be lol
You really can't blame dealerships for those prices. Prices only go as high as stupidity allows it 🤣🤣
Stop paying those prices. These are bloated overweight trucks that the vast majority of people do not need. Chevy makes absolutely nothing I want. I don't want an SUV or truck. They don't even offer a reasonably priced car anymore.
I bought the 2024 rst when it came out. I haven't had any problems yet. 🤞
People that pay these prices are the simps of the car market
I immediately bought a Bully Dog programmer for my 2011 5.3 Silverado and deleted active fuel management before 2500 miles. My engine has been perfect. Edit: I still drive that truck daily.
Seem like yesterday when they were selling Brand new Ford Raptors with the V8s FOR 75K AND THAT WAS A SHOCKING !
Give me a 1070's truck with a 350 motor and a 350-turbo transmission.
Woah, that’s ancient.
Yes but it last a damn long time I had 3 of them
Let me go ask my sales manager 🤥🤡 They always make it sound like you’re getting a deal! The sad truth is people get suckered and sign on the X!
I passed on a new GMC Canyon because of the 2.7, don’t like that engine. Went with a GMC Acadia because I could still get a V6 in that vehicle.
So maybe catastrophic failures and high costs of repairs or replacement is the prelude to EV replacement?
Bummer, because Chevy will likely be my choice for new truck when the time comes. My old 2000 Chevy S10 has a V6 4.3, and it's half the size of these trucks. I bet those Colorados don't even have trailer hitches either.
You have to pay extra for it.
@crlaw75 Which is dumb. A trailer hitch should be standard issue for all trucks.
@@teejaynumber13 I had a '21 Colorado and it surprisingly came with a standard trailer hitch.
My 2010 Caddi Ext is still king💯🇺🇸🤜🏿💥
I won’t trade my 2nd gen Toyota tundra for anything, !!
1500$ for window tint from the dealer 😂😂😂😂
2 wheel drive 4 cyl truck for 40k+......looooooool! I'll ride my tricycle to work at those prices.
Don't buy i have my 2007 silverado with 148,000 mi a man came up and offered me 12,000 i said no deal my truck is spotless and very clean
Where is market depreciation. Already a year old and won’t come off the price
In 2021 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss V8 Leather Trailing Sport mode $58k new / Traded in now selling $39K 36K miles…
That red Chev truck at the start would be a 100K in 🇨🇦. Unreal.
Backruptcy is coming!
My 4x4 trailblazer has 320,000 km and runs perfect because I maintain it. Know someone whose lasted to 640,000km. I'm aiming to beat that😊
These prices aren’t market demands
4 cylinders junk
nitrogen tire protection what a joke ,the air is made up of 80 % nitrogen .
why are people buying them? Just stop. You are the reason for the increase
I will stay with my 2003 Silverado.
You can make the same rant against EVERY make.
Covid made everything a luxury. Realize how easy we have it today.
After many Silverados I finally smartened up and got a V8 Tundra
Hey Thomas love that content man you just speak the truth one thing to note that traverse was a fwd high country like i get fwd on lower end models but awd should be standard on a high country but i guess thats how they get you to or almost to 60k when you have to add awd insane
Meanwhile, I’ll continue to ban GM vehicles in my family’s driveways ! And keep driving our hassle free Toyota, Subaru and Hondas ! Hell, since dumping GM, my tools never get dirty ! 👍 winning !
You may have to travel out of state, but you can find 3.0 diesel w/4wd for 49-54k (trim dependent). It's still overpriced, but don't pay 70k for one
Piece of junk I would never by a ford Chevy dodge I’ll stick with my old 3 generation Tacoma even the new Tacomas charge $3000.00 more for 4wd 10k more is insane
Still less than a new Ford Bronco 🙄.
I love my 1991 GMC 1500 with the same engine 249 k
My 2022 colorado, v6, 2wd redline edition, 7000 lbs towing capacity, was listed at just over 36 grand brand new, with fees and tax I think it was just under 38 grand out the door, no cylinder deactivation or start stop bullshit
How much more can they get, a loaded GMC Ultimate is $90000
Truck prices in Canada, are totally
insane! A new Sierra ‘Denali’ 1500
is near $100,000.00!!! Better off
keeping my 1016, until it dies!😂
Garbage Motors junk
Greed will kill this country.
Me trying to buy a truck.
Chevy: this is like the only model on display no other dealerships have this one. Were all sold out. 71k is a great deal.
Me: But what's all those in the lot.
Chevy: those are all sold they just haven't been picked up yet.
Me: so your telling me those trucks are sold and the owners just decided to leave them on the lot?
Chevy has left the chat.
Sounds like a Chrysler dealer where I live.
They had vehicles sold, the prices went up and the owners refused to pay the higher price, so they left them on the lot.
Wasn’t AFM introduced in 07? My Yukon would debate this statement JUST SAYING. Did the delete & best $700 ever spent
Chevy , gm are the one of the brands out there that have the least amount problems out of any companies out there
I have a 2022 LT trailboss with the 5.3L no issues with power train yet. Little over 35,000 miles
I will keep driving and buying the GMT 400, and 800 trucks, all day long!
That has DFM, not AFM sir.
Bought my Silverado 24 a year ago for 82 grand with a lift traded it in in less than 6 months because of the motor issue completely junk inside and out and u gotta pay for the google subscription bought me a used jeep for 25 never happier
My engine just went on my ‘08 Tundra 5.7. It had 403,282 miles. I wouldn’t buy a new Tundra today because they are a piece of shit.
