you prolly dont care at all but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost my password. I love any help you can offer me.
Elisa, I know this video was from several years ago, we are all much older and wiser now. I hope if asked the same thing now you would have a lot more to say about the wild mustang. After all, their brilliance enabled you to show your skill as a trainer and that must also be honored. As you showed us, they are magic!
This is sweet to see: she did such an amazing job building a nonaggressive relationship with this horse, and you can tell in the final competition how great they are together. Awesome and very inspirational. So, so cool.
The Arabian ranch I worked at as a kid housed some wild Mustangs from Suzanville, CA for a bit. Their stud broke in and mated with one and that became my horse :) So i had a half Arabian Half Mustang, and he was a very spirited horse!
It seems to me that when separated from other horses, mustangs-- being the highly social animals that they are-- become desperate for a friend and/or a leader. And since they're not really exposed to humans before their capture, and their only exposure is being branded and fed while kept with other horses, humans are a largely unknown quantity to them. Their first impression of a human probably determines whether they see them as potential friends or predators. That might have something to do with it, anyway. The desire for companionship, the lack of alarming behavior by the human, etc. I'm sure the horse's natural temperament has a say in it, too. Some are just calmer, some are more high-strung.
Alexis Pickel I’m doing the youth Mustang makeover this year, and I’ve been doing my research 😂 I know how to train a horse but I wanna make sure I do it right. Just realized this comment was 2 years ago
This is so cool!! I was looking through my old young rider magazines and read about you and fledge! No wonder he looked so familiar!! Great job with all the mustangs!
She is amazing with this mustang. I just wish she would have left his mane the way it was. His mane look great the way it was. They deserved the win they got. Was she allowed to keep him?
iv trained only a few, but if YOU know YOUR standards, why judge others, ik its about safety. but she's not doing any thing too extreme, and it IS a mustang so things could escalate quickly. BUT, I think she understood the horse before she picked it ;)
Ive always wanted to participate in the youth competition of this but have never had the facilities to do it and now im 19 so after college I plan on buying a mustang from blm and then hopefully participating in the mustang makeover when I have the correct facilities.
PepperFlame Dickens Lots and I mean LOTS of desensitizing. With the end of the rope, a whip, plastic bag, plywood, tarps, etc. Remember... if the horse moves away when you are desensitizing, follow them! If you stop, they learn that moving away is the answer. Also, if they are scared of the trailer, work them away, rest them near. Repeat many times until you can eventually rest in the trailer. They will think of that as their safe place
Howdy ma'am... well I like your ways with the horses and I agree with 99.9% of it but I gotta say from a professional point of view you should also be promoting a bit of safety sense. With respect, your foot gear in particular..
I believe this horse was probably once domesticated and escaped with the herd. Many horses have done this which the blm will just capture and throw them in as mustangs to get rid of the problem. This horse doesn't seem to resemble a mustang in which you'll mostly see a stockier build. I'm not saying this one is not a mustang but it is a big possibility of just a horse that escaped and became wild. Which most likely he should be very easy to domesticate again and will remember anything he's taught. A horse who's never been touched doesn't allow to you pet them the first day and would bolt out of that trailer.
SunnyReflector No, most of the mustangs are lean and short. Sometimes you'll find stockier, 15hh+ ones. And not every mustang will bolt and not allow them to be touched. >.> And NO, he had no training before. He came from the wild, was in a holding pen with no handling except being chased with flags to move from a trailer to a pen or whatever. There are mustangs that are calmer and others that are more reactive. If you watch Rune and Nimh, they both ran out of the trailer. However, by the end of the day, Elisa could pet Rune but Nimh was more standoffish. Mustang ancestors were domesticated horses that either escaped or were let go. Today, those in the wild are not domesticated. They are wild.
Sunny, it's more likely Fledge was either born in the BLM facility or captured as a very young horse. They don't do a lot with them but the horses become accustomed to being around people. You would be surprised at how friendly and curious a lot of the mustangs are when you visit the holding pens. Also, the horse's build totally depends on which herd management area the horse was taken from. My mustang is tall (15.2) and leggy.
Kaitlyn Megee how do you know about this specific horse the blm rounds up any feral horse they find this horse could have been handeled escaped and then caught by the blm
She got him through the BLM, who does hardly anything with them other than feed and brand them. They know nothing. The BLM puts on "Extreme Mustang Makeovers" to find mustangs good homes.
aren't there enough abused and neglected horses around in captivity to rescue and rehabilitate than to not have to take a wild animal from its home and herd?
Yes, but there are also thousands of mustangs sitting around in crowded holding facilities who have been there for years. Adopting a mustang or a rescue horse is always a good thing, but not adopting a mustang will not stop the round-ups because it is not a supply and demand kind of thing. Now that horse slaughter is legal they also get shipped out to the slaughter houses too.
Mustang means wild this is a wild animal from the plains of america, just because it doesnt 'attack' doesnt mean its not a wild animal, horses are prey animals they flight or fight most flight
VietFiddle "Wild animals" are normally predators, when I hear someone say that term I think of bobcats, mountain lions, bears, etc. Not mustangs. Fledge was WILD, but there are a thousand mustangs and each has their own personality. Some are more reactive, others are calmer and more trusting.
What a nice little horse. very calm for a wild one.

Re-watching this after his recent freestyle. Little Baby Fledge! I wonder if he had any idea what a sweet life lay ahead of him? 🖤
The Arabian ranch I worked at as a kid housed some wild Mustangs from Suzanville, CA for a bit. Their stud broke in and mated with one and that became my horse :) So i had a half Arabian Half Mustang, and he was a very spirited horse!
Shanti now that sounds like one heck of a horse!
That was so cool to see you lay down with your horse and go super fast on your horse without any hands.
This is amazing, he's not even acting ferral, love your technique and the way you explain everything. Fantastic!
You can tell he likes the scratching behind the ear. My horse loves it too and literally begs for it
man he is SO much calmer than the mustangs I've worked with!! He's adorable..what a sweet little personality!
My mustang was just like this when I got her too! I swear they slipped some domesticated ones in those holding pens! haha

What a pretty, good-natured mustang.
From on non-horsey person's perspective, this is really interesting and a joy to watch and learn. Thanks for sharing.
I've been watching these videos for like weeks😂...my new horse is coming in a week and she's a mustang and I can't wait
Alexis Pickel is she wild to
@@dreamlife8316 a Mustang is a wild horse 😂😂😂😂
Roo Berry Mustang is a breed. People adopt tame mustangs all the time. That’s prob what @dream life was asking🤷♀️

Mackenzie Wood Which one are you doing? I’m doing two TIP challenges and the Texas Youth EMM☺️
She got very lucky with that one, the mustangs are usually a bit more wild.
+Sarah Moran Actually most can be like this. Shes being patient and relaxed around him. Shes not pushing him or making him scared.
Yeh
Wow kudos to you! He is a quick learner. What a nice little horse he has become :)
I love the way you work with the horses. You are my idol!
This is so cool!! I was looking through my old young rider magazines and read about you and fledge! No wonder he looked so familiar!! Great job with all the mustangs!
Keep on adopting mustang horses and Keep making videos of them . I LOVE YOUR MUSTANG VIDEOS . From Angela
such beauty!
Impressive. For the many horses that I've trained, none have behaved as well as this one in one day. You must be a horse whisperer.
+Daniel N No she just knows how to listen. Its not really that hard
You are a great trainer! But you did get lucky with such an easy going mustang too.
You should watch her 2019 mustangs if you haven't already.
Eton was a very special case and very few people could have properly trained him
fantastic!!
a horse without a rider is a horse but ,a rider without a horse is just a human🏇🏇🐎🐎🏇🐎🏇

soul
She is amazing with this mustang. I just wish she would have left his mane the way it was. His mane look great the way it was. They deserved the win they got. Was she allowed to keep him?
FMNelly yes
This horse was never properly domesticated the secret is that she is using the natural way and not the physical way
Well they still run wild. I know they do here in California, in Suzanville. I had the offspring of one of the wild ones.
Monet Hostutler isn't that what natural horsemanship is?
you are amazing thank you for your video
I Love the way you work with mustang s it seems they trust you too and good luck with all of them be extra careful I won't see you get hurt too
Wow. Just. Wow. So old!
Bravo
Why are they out the wild? For this programm? I don't know :p
How do u get to do this? I love how amazing you are with the horses. You have become my idol. It would be a dream come true to meet you.

What a good boy :)
My mustang wouldn't let me touch him for the first week! Wow, well done!
i like it
The same spot on the neck has horseawareness horse I think the horse's name is Mr. T. Very nice
Ive always wanted to participate in the youth competition of this but have never had the facilities to do it and now im 19 so after college I plan on buying a mustang from blm and then hopefully participating in the mustang makeover when I have the correct facilities.
I have a mare that will not go into inclosed spaces and is very skittish, any advice??

how old are you

She has had multiple mustangs that she has worked with and they are all as calm as him by the end of the day.

Nah bc I had a wild colt and he was exactly like this. I used the same method and her too
Kaitlyn Megee how do you know about this specific horse the blm rounds up any feral horse they find this horse could have been handeled escaped and then caught by the blm
I got an ad with a horse in it XD
How old was Fledge in these videos?
Look into the biologist that looks into the wild horses in wyofiles
Don't ya wish they were ALL this easy!?
Can I have advice on where and how to get a blm mustang?
AlecSilver🌕 Google it.
he is very gentle for a wild horse...
i have seeing worst, that wild horses running around and kick because they don't know touching and people

Are you actually kidding me?
It is not wild at all. Wild animals run away from human, and attach human when we approach closer to them.
Mustang means wild this is a wild animal from the plains of america, just because it doesnt 'attack' doesnt mean its not a wild animal, horses are prey animals they flight or fight most flight

Kaitlyn Megee wild does not mean predator xD
Nice WILD horse. Wouldn't it be great if we could all catch one with existing branding?
