Fantastic video man!! I just bought my manual G20 and the motor is flopping around like upstream salmon by a grizzly bear. Definitely ordering mounts and getting this done asap. Very very clear and concise video. Will be checking out more of your channel!
Got it done today. I recommend getting the back 17mm crossmember bolts in first - much easier. I really struggled to get the holes lined up but, unbelievably, they finally did. Thanks again Eric.
i guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a way to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Lincoln Judson I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I have had an annoying clunking on what seems to be the rear subframe mount. Very helpful in helping to determine the problem I have with my 03 Sentra.
At the 6:15 mark you were putting back the cross member, I didn't see the floor jack on the oil pan and I saw the engine shaking alot when you were reinstalling. Was everything being supported by the other two motor mounts on the sides? I plan on taking mine out, out of my Nissan.
yes the transmission mount and passenger mount were holding the engine. I had to use the jack to lift the engine from the crossmember to get everything lined up
10:49 , for those having getting the bolt in due to misalignment, use a long screw driver and go down through that left side hole and use leverage by pushing sideways so the holes align and you can now screw in the the bolt to the engine block.
My driver side shaft is falling out of the cup and the passenger side shaft is on an angle, my engine is slanted. What is the problem here? Could it be the subframe?
Thanks for the video. Those mounts are a bit of work but straight forward. It's the transmission mount that is most difficult. One of the 4 bolts I just can't remove.
When I did mine (twice now), you have to drop it low. 1.)You do this by removing the chassis bolts from the crossmember, then the cross member will disconnect and hang. 2.) Then, use your socket wrench and extensions. A crowfoot flare wrench will help.
Hey Eric, how long did the job actually take to do? Also, how can I tell what my paint color is? There's nothing on the inside door jam. Thanks for sharing.
When you put the motor mounts back in, did you let jack dowb from under oil pan? And jack up the cross member in the rear? And then jacked up the front?
Question) I have a Nissan Sentra XL 1.6 auto trans, when I put it in reverse the whole engine jumps forward which motor mount should I replace I just replace the driver side axel (CV) the knucled part of it axel was out o fhte shaft, and jambed into the motor, (No damange to motor)
Eric, this is a great video. You show early in the video that you are jacking the motor using a wood block under the oil pan. Later, when you are reinstalling the lower brace, you jack the brace to line up the mounting holes for the bolts. Did you use a second jack or had you determined by that point that the engine did not require constant support from underneath so you could move the jack?
The only reason that you are supporting the engine is so that you can remove the two bolts from the motor mounts that you're replacing if you don't do this there is going to be a lot of pressure on those bolts and you won't be able to slide them out easily you have to remember that you still have a engine mount on the left side and a transmission mount right so the engine won't fall. Once you remove the two motor mounts to Line everything back up you have to jack up the brace that holds the two motor mounts because the holes won't line up.if you have two jacks leave one on the oil pan and use the second one to help lift the center brace
how's it going! the mounts are still holding up, I used cheaper mounts that last less than 1 year so it is true but these seem like they are better quality
TIPS: when reinstalling the bracket, to put the bolts thru the rubber mounts, keep the jack OFF the engine/oil pan. The motor needs to be bottomed out, in order to line up the mounts enough to where the bolt will slide thru. to line up the rear of the bracket with the studs, I had to jack it up using the transmission case. this was on a 00 nissan altima.
Why is the pioneer front right mount on rock auto so expensive now 💀I'm guessing the parts from a p10 and p11 would be different.. Would it be terrible to buy a kit of an automatic transmission and swap the rubbers from the new parts to the old?
So the a Nissan Sentra & an Infiniti like the same under the car ? Same process excuse my incompetence new to the car stuff just learned how to change my oil today 😂
ERICSDIYGARAGE they don’t bro, mine started to jerk the motor once I’m going from drive to reverse. Sucks that I just replaced all of them like 3 months ago
Does anyone notice that some of the aftermarket suppliers for these mounts have the bushing orientation screwed up? Sometimes they're off by about 45 degrees, other times they're almost upside down. I've had to press them out and reorient it. It's like they pay no attention, but the orientation is critical for longer life and better dampening characteristics.
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE Availability of OE mounts for this application is getting spotty. I just get the Beck Arnley's. You never know what you'll get, but generally I've been happy with their products. Anchor is no go.
yeah I realized that the hard way, I have a transmission mount from anchor but I'm debating on using it, it has a different design compared to beck arnley
if you broke it try to remove it with a flat head and a hammer if it broke clean off it should come off with some taps. go to the salvage yard and get another bolt or try your local Nissan dealership.
It's actually the big bolt that bolts the cross member to the frame. I don't think i will be able to get it out unless i drill it out, and even then i am unsure because of the amount of torque it would take to get it out. Any reason to not weld the whole thing to the fram?. I doubt I will replace the motor mounts on this car again.
@@kylermahoney3980 I would try to remove the cross member again and fix it the right way. these motor mount do not last long, its been one year and mine is broken again.
Put the vehicle in Reverse with the brakes on and rev the engine if the engine moves a lot your motor mounts are probably bad you can also do the same thing if you put the vehicle and drive and put the brakes on and accelerate
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE great but I am not seeing it in your videos. I see this one that shows front rear and passenger and another video that shows front again. No drivers side mount under air box.
I've watched several videos for the motor mounts already, and this one is clearly the best one I have seen, thank you!
so happy with the p11 videos. just bought a primera p11-144 (European facelift model of this car) and this helps a lot.

it would be a combination of both mounts since the other might be compensating for the bad causing both to fail
