Fantastic video, I know it's from years ago, but this helped me fix the motor mounts on my 2001 Altima. Jacking the engine up from the bottom was perfect. Both bolts lined right up without any struggle whatsoever :)
Thank you sir for showing me how to set those mount in place..it have to remember that some times other mechanic done the replace and they turn it the wrong way so i couldn't put a mark to how i remove them because they didn't fit the correct way🙏
Epic fail trying to do this today on my 1999 Altima. I think all the salt from driving in NYC really rusted away some vital parts of my car. Where the bolts attach to the front of the frame, bunch of rust... And a bolt snapped in half. I tried to just put it back together, and of course, once you release tension on a broken mount, good luck trying to get anything back in there. Moral of the story: If you see rust, approach with caution!
I hear that. The rust really does a number. I broke a bolt doing this repair once. The bolt can be purchased at the dealer for about ten dollars. My problem is actually the frame side being to rusty to get bolts to hold tight. Twenty year old car what can expect, right?
+MTips18 I was so surprised at how much rust there was on the two front bolts. I wonder if Nissan has addressed this spot on newer vehicles... I will order those bolts and see what happens. Must keep trudging ahead... OF course, love getting under the vehicle and seeing the broken cv axles and leaky inner tie rods... These cars.
Im having a hell of a time getting the lower mounts into a 97 Altima..... I managed to get the cross member back on, with force and having to result to using a jack to force it into place....but I cant get the engine to line up with the mounts for anything. Iv tried starting the car and revving it, jacking the engine from various places on the bottom, using an engine hoist to move the engine and nothing. Im also having an issue getting the new mounts into the brakets they go into, its almost as if they are slightly too big. I know the car was in multiple accidents and was thinking maybe alot of shit got fucked up thats making it more difficult than it should be.. Any insight would be helpful. Iv spent 2 days just trying to get the new mounts on alone. Taking the old bolts off was an entire days worth of work itself after having soaked them all in penetrating oil for a day wasnt enough.
You I got everything tied up excerpt the rear it needs to go down but no matter what I do it won't line up I even took my hood off and I stood on top of my engine and nothing I managed to put an hex key so it won't move to far so wtf do. I do
Dannymclovin69 that's a tricky one, if you have another person around you can have them use a big pry bar to help line it up taking care to not mess anything up in the process. For me the biggest thing was having the engine supported in the right spot so it would drop more towards the back. It's hard to give advice when I'm not looking at it first hand. Please let me know what you did to get it in.
MTips18 thanks man but I just figured it out here's how I did it i started all over I took it all off and I started with just the front mount and hand tightened then I lined it up with the rear ,so I jacked it up from the middle of the cross member as high as I could and that seated the rear cross member bolts I put the fasteners hand tight after that I jacked up the engine from the transmission itself (not the pan) and I got that as high I could then asked my father to push the engine down with a breaker bar( it moves alot freely ) and got it as close as I could then I inserted a flat head and made room for the mount bolt then I tightened it once it was in after that I jacked it up from the middle of the cross member and got the 2 front bolts and torqued it and that was it easy but it took me 3 days to figure out and the weather want cooperating but yea this is what I did try at your own risk I'm not responsible if you break something
Due to inferior quality or replacement parts... This can be one of the biggest pain in the ass jobs on the altima. One trick that has helped me as I've done this job twice is.... Install the mounts to the "cross member". Next get the 2 bolts installed through the rubber mounts. Now with a big trolley jack and a pry bar, work the back 3 nuts, then the front. If you do this by the manual, the left and right mounts must be disconnected which allows the engine to twist. Still sucks no matter what. Stabbing an automatic transmission by yourself is the worst job on these cars. By the way Mtips... Your main oil seal is leaking.
worldtraveler you can support the engine by the transmission with a jack for a way easier install. I feel your pain as the rear mount likes to fight with you.
What is the size bolts for the rear motor mount for the cross member? I heard you state the size of the mount bolts- size 14 , but I didn't hear the size for the cross member.
@@MTips18 The long bolts are the 14s but what size are the shorter bolts? I noticed two different size bolts on the video. You had mentioned something bout torque bolts to 22-29lbs I think that's the bolt size I am talking bout not sure! Thanks for the fast response!
How did you know that they have to be replaced? What is the indication? My Altima is 17 years old, same design and I don't know if I should have to do it or not.
thank you, based on your pictures I was able to check mine and they are still in one piece. Somehow I didn't realize that from transmission side I have much better view.
Very good video and thank you for share? whats the name of the camera then you are using for this video it have awesome resolution ,may know the name please.
Mark James snap in off. You can weld a new nut onto the other side. The nut that's on there is just a square piece of metal welded to the cross member.

Glad to hear you completed the job with great success!
The videos make it so easy and doable.....even this 6 minute video looks great. I wish I had that confidence to do it, though.
Per Shop Take it on! It really isn't as hard as you think. Plus you'll save some money.

Perfect video will be doing this today and needed a quick guide thanks man

My rear mount bolt has a nut... thinking you lost yours somewhere along the line... 95 GXE...
you need to do a video on the other mounts! i need to learn how to do all four! lol
I did make videos for them. ruclips.net/video/Wo3n_5DH28U/видео.html

They're 17mm
The front right motor mount for 1999 Nissan Altima 2.4
Where to buy this mount?
I bought it at pep boys. Back when they sold parts. Rock auto probably has it.
How did you know that they have to be replaced?
What is the indication? My Altima is 17 years old, same design and I don't know if I should have to do it or not.
If you have rough shifting or you see obvious cracking in the rubber around them.

Or vibration in drive when stopped in traffic
