When Sr died, the entire sport turned to Dale Jr for the answer to "What's next?" and he answered in a big way, taking on the responsibility of carrying an entire sport on such young shoulders. He had his ups and downs throughout his career, but there isn't a single driver in the HOF that hasn't. It's what he did off the track for the fans and what he continues to do for the fans and what he continues to bring to the sport that solidified his as a first ballot Hall of Fame inductee for sure. Congrats to Dale and his entire team behind him, it's been one hell of a ride for us fans, and I know I couldn't be happier with the news of his selection. Well deserved.
He won 2 Busch series championships and 2 daytona 500s. Just that shouldn't give someone a hall of fame induction, otherwise Michael Waltrip should be in the hall. This is total inconsistency. It's just a F'ing popularity contest. All the hall of fame is doing here is guaranteeing junior fans show up at the door. $$$

@@J.B24 hall of "FAME" jr is one of the most famous names in all of motorsports. One of the top 30-40 drivers ever in nascar. One of the best ever on the restrictor plate tracks. He has done more for the sport than any other modern driver. He has brought so much talent in to the sport also. The hof isnt just a win list competition Why arent you crying about Red Farmer? he never even won a top series race. Same with Mike Stefanik. Sure he was a great in the mods, but 1 top 10 in 10 years in the busch series.
If you have to slow all the other cars down just to win a race, then you're not that great. Restrictor plate racing isn't racing. The guy is only famous because his daddy was great. Hendrick only hired him because of his popularity which brought sponsorship. Dale only drove for DEI because his daddy owned it. Tell me again how this guy is great? He's been spoon fed everything he's ever got in life.

Junior carried the sport on his back during its most popular years and graciously accepted the leadership/frontman role that was foisted upon him after his dad died. He's a big piece of the NASCAR puzzle and fully deserves the recognition. Congrats Junebug!
Even during it's low years the last couple of years. People turned into the races to hear Dale's Commentary on NBC. He really does save the sport.

Throughout my life, Dale Jr to me was always "my favorite race car driver". Now, he's "my favorite Hall of Fame race car driver". Crazy how time does things! The range of people that are happy for him go from Mike Helton to a 20 something kid from Queens New York (me). CONGRATS DALE!!!

I never watched NASCAR until this season, and Dale Jr. brought me into it. Having seen his podcast on YT, I decided to give NASCAR a try and now I'm hooked. I don't know all the history of the sport, but I know for a fact the impact he's had on it, being that he brought this newbie in. Congrats, Jr. Your daddy would be proud of you.
Exactly why he's getting in. Wasn't a great driver, but his impact and advocacy in the sport is why he's getting in so early. It's one thing I like about the NASCAR Hall of Fame. It values legacy as much stats

I've been a fan since 2005. I have been through the highs and some pretty bad lows with Dale and Jr Nation and I must say that this is well deserved. He just received the highest honor in Nascar. He should be the President of Nascar.

I think it was Jr's last Daytona win when I really seen how much respect and integrity that he had. He got out of the car and gave every person in the team a hug and his thanks I really liked that.
Nobody deserves the credit more than Dale Jr. Such a humble and sweet human being. Tears fell down my face for Dale Jr.when he got in. You deserve it Dale. I been to one race in my life. Michigan 1999 Bush series. I made fun of Nascar until that day. Dale Jr won in the #3 AC DELCO Chevy and from that day on I loved Nascar and Jr was my driver. I learned of Dale Sr because of Dale Jr.
