" .... and a little child shall lead them." said the good Book! Let us not fail to recognise that this performance is a prize of unequalled value, wholly unfettered by the constraints of adult ways - with the uniquely profound insights and joyous abandon of a true music-maker.We should not be thinking about what Alexander is NOT, or even what he WILL BE, but receiving what he IS; for it will never be repeated.

This young pianist is one those phenoms that begs one to wait and see. If he is properly handled, that is to say if he is recognized as a child with a gift and not as an adult in a child's frame, his genius will go far. Having said that, there is something of an old soul manifest here. I believe this little man is gentle and kind to boot. Those qualities can render him an incomparable pianist. Clara, Ludwig, Emil, Sergei and Sviatoslov come to mind...

@@jonesnemeth9498 you're right -- there are a number of flaws, but not very many at all. Some of it is due to poor audio, too. What's more, I think there's something incredibly beautiful about a piece that feels like it'll break at any given moment. This is what Malofeev excels at doing when it comes to Rachmaninov pieces. Lugansky's rendition is amazing, don't get me wrong....but Malofeev's expression of it rivals Lugansky's in my opinion.

He speaks English brilliantly and from all accounts is a very nice young man dedicated to his art.

The playing with such emotional intelligence at that age is impressive, more so than the evident technical ability. (bow)

This he was 11 years old and started playing at age of 5.
This is the 15th year since my first piano lesson and I am still struggling with the c sharp minor prelude. 🤣

I mean, yes... I've played too the piano, and i play it but i'll never be like him. There are 2 things that i'm happy though: it was months that i wasn't listening to music as relaxed and interested like in this moment. Thinking that a boy can play so well and with that emotion, technique... i'm only glad that i can hear at least part of the composer's intentions.
The second thing is that you, me and everyone in this world that play an Instrument are different. Yes we're not him but we can definitely enjoy what we play. This is the only thing that matters to me...
