- Marrisa and her four children live in Union Rescue Mission, a large homeless shelter in Skid Row. Marrisa was abused growing up and went into foster care at age 15. She now works three part-time jobs while living in a homeless shelter trying to make a future for her children.
Last night, 245 homeless children slept at Union Rescue Mission. Let that number sink in a little! That's just one shelter. There are thousands of homeless children in Los Angeles County.
Where is the uproar and outcry from the public about all of the homeless children in America?

This woman is working 3 jobs and is still unable to make ends meet that’s ridiculous. She’s a woman who’s really trying, regardless of what got her here, unable to get government assistance. Here’s someone I believe if given the resources and opportunity could truly make it in life.
California is the issue , depending where you live , rent is beyond expensive.
Both the "resources" AND the "opportunity" are readily available to her ...just as they are for YOU and everybody else!
Rent are expensive my rent is 1300 a month plus utilities.

From unwed mother of 4, rape/abuse, no parents, no baby daddy help, prostitution & witchcraft, I can say that me and my kids are safe/healthy and BLESSED!!GOD saved me and my children! Why are people over simplifying and judging this situation so harshly? this woman was sexually and physically abused and probably had no clear guideline on how to be treated in romantic relationships. Abuse has complex and lost lasting effects on people, and childhood trauma manifests in different people in different ways. Get off your high horse and shut the hell up already.
People don’t understand how trauma and abuse can stunt your emotional maturity. She may have sought sanctuary and protection from men who were abusive. I know many women who live in beautiful homes in the suburbs who are just like her.

What does Bezos' earnings have to do with anything? He earned his place. Sheer didn't bother to get an education, she didn't bother to keep her legs closed, use birth control or lay up with a decent man who would provide for his family. That's on her. I was molested by a family "friend" from the time I was in diapers till I was 10, at that age I pointed the finger and let it be known. At the same time that was going on,I was beaten almost daily by my alcoholic mother.

It's not just about minimum wage. It's the cost of housing. Housing is at an all time high in many cities. You can move but (a) u need money to do that and (b) job opportunities are less availble. Now with COVID 19, many are moving out of cities but are driving up housing costs in suburban and rural areas.

Some people face abuse and they create a hard shell of defense around themselves and determine that they will never be vulnerable or let anyone get near enough to touch them or take advantage of them again. Others get abused and determine that they are worthless individuals and that is why their life turned out that way and therefore continue to allow the abuse to happen. Yet others go searching for the love they never received as a child in the arms of others but since they don't truly understand what love is, end up getting pregnant because they think if someone wants them sexually it must be love because that's what they learned from their abusers. Please don't judge and be nasty because your reaction to your situation was different from this girl's reaction to similar circumstances.

The fathers of these kids should be arrested. Sadly, the foster care system does nothing to prepare the kids for life. When they age out of the system, they are on their own.

This hurts my heart to hear her story. She is so strong. I pray to Allah that he blesses her and her children with a blessed, stable, happy and successful life.
I remember my mom had me and my two little sisters living shelter to shelter. I just got flashbacks 😪 I know what she's going thru and I feel for her. I hope she can get the help she needs.

It's really sad, I remember seeing my mom cry and wanting us to have the best. My mom was raised with very abusive parents and she was sexually abused by her father she then left her house at 16 and had me at 17 and my little sisters at 18 and 19. @Julia A it may not be accessible (money), sometimes it fails, people do get assaulted. You never know. I’ve seen some stories of people getting married quite young then their spouse dying or they had to flee the relationship and end up homeless. It’s not always pure recklessness (though, tbh, a good bit of the time it is)

Everyone has a sad story. SHE put her self in these circumstances! Again, refer to my previous comment about not having kids until you can afford to pay for them. We shouldn't praise her for working three jobs to take care of her kids. They're HER kids! She SHOULD do whatever it take to take care of the kids she CHOSE to bring into this world. If it's three or four or ten jobs she needs then so be it. It's all about choices and the consequences of them.

The ONLY time i didn't work was during pregnancy bc i was sick the ENTIRE time.
I lived in a women's shelter in a 2 bedroom apartment. My rent was 338$
I was the only female in the building who had 1 child...worked...and had a car.
I lived there little over 1 year. Got on my feet and never looked back.
I'm turning 32 this November. My son turns 10 in December.
I had a tubal ligation 2 year's ago at age 29. My son remains the only child.
I'm not quite understanding why female's feel the need to keep making babies.
I now work 2 part time job's and receive zero child support.

Obviously the father is not helping her with the kids, the kids were hungry when they were picked up by Andy. So sad. GOD BLESS ANDY..... This happens everyday mothers with kids and homeless.

I was gonna say that homeless shelter looks amazing! I love this channel because it has really helped me understand that homeless people aren't homeless because of misconceptions like laziness, addiction, etc. a lot of people just get dealt a bad hand by life, and that could happen to any of us. I pray to God that this lady is able to get her life back together.

She needs to move to another state where the cost of living is affordable, ppl in Cali will never be able to afford to buy a home and trying to keep up with expenses is just a waste of energy, a nice clean town where good support or low income housing is available and a great place to raise her children, I think Andy is doing an awesome job as a stepping stone for homeless mothers, but eventually they have to look at the longevity of other options, where the environment is safer and the living is affordable, beautiful mom and children, many blessings upon her ❤️
Sadly this problem isn’t just in California but in every state. I know so many people working 2-3 jobs in Arizona Iowa and Montana who can’t even afford to pay their rent. The cost of living has gone too high everywhere it’s really sad to see. Hopefully Andy is more stable now than before.
I wonder why nobody questions her lack of judgment,having all these kids while homeless,it’s completely not just irresponsible but unfair for the kids.
