I love long faces! They have an elegant and chic feel. I especially love long faces with bangs or a centre parting!
I think the problem is that the renaissance for long faces was the 70s, long faces with droopy eyes were the biggest beauty trend in the 70s
For the big forehead girls, their Renaissance was the 90s/early 2000s when a lot of supermodels had bigger foreheads
The current beauty trend is definitely catered towards short round and square faces
we all have our time as the beauty trend, don’t get caught up in it! focus on what works for you and not whats trending :)

Tbh, it's not only cus of the trend, it's also cus shorter/more round faces look better on camera. Personally, I rarely turn out good on photos, but I have realised by zooming it, that sometimes, my features turn out good (if they don't turn out tired), but it's the long face that looks off putting. And this especially sucks cus selfies are a big thing, and they make your face even bigger aka longer, cus your face is so close to the camera :S

I feel like we long faced folks are kind of left out, and with all the filters and surgeries that shorten the face becoming so mainstream, I feel like I'm always fighting my face instead of finding ways to flatter it. I have a really long face by any standard. There is no denying it. I used to have hairdressers tell me not to do this or that because if it. Like one even refused to cut my hair short. So I switched hairdresser and got my hair cut into a kind of pixie bob, very short and angled in the back and with a long side parted fringe I could tuck behind my ears. It had a bit of a french vibe as well, effortless but sophisticated. Everybody loved that cut on me. I still get asked if I will ever bring it back. That was when I learned my lesson not to let flaws perceived in me by others dominate how I style myself

I have a very oblong face, but also thin and rectangular. My entire life I was called horseface, i always wished i had a more round face to give me a more feminine look. I really dislike it especially now that i am getting older, it looks even longer because the loss of cheekbones volume.
So, as i can't change my face shape, in the beginning of my 20's I decided I was going to cut my hair, cut bangs, or wherever i wanted to do with it instead of following rules or trying to make my face look wider. It was the best decision I've ever made. My hair was always a reference to the other girls and being stylish made me more attractive. Now I have a very long hair, middle parted and I don't plan to change it any sooner. Am I satisfied? Not really. But I can make it work like you said, trying to create a look that goes well with the whole thing.

This describes me too, but I am in my late 60s. Have grown my hair out (Covid) so it's halfway to my elbows. Bangs don't really work on me, I have 2 cowlicks, one above each eye, so bangs don't hang well. I do have some age growths (actinic keratosis on my forehead that I'd like to hide with bangs, like curtain bangs? I like natural hair and braids, etc., but my hair is thin and fine and mostly straight. I think my stye is soft classic, with ethereal and natural vibes - I really identify with the hippie look because I was in my 20s in the 1970s and lived it. It feels like me. It is fun learning all this, and I really like the philosophy of celebrating what you have, not trying to disguise yourself into some balanced ideal, although as a designer I know the human eye seeks balance, although it finds beauty in uniqueness too. Curtain bangs? Bob it more to collarbone length? I don't want to look dragged down and tired, and on my strong jawline I am starting to get some jowls. ? Ideas?

Also Blake Lively has pointy chin and that makes her face seem longer. I feel the same way about Jennifer Aniston. In my opinion long faces are more narrow not too wide. I assume that when someone has a longer nose and jaw shape, they fit the 'long' face type. Although, I think it shouldn't be a face shape category on its own, as you can have oval, triangle or diamond shaped long faces 🤷🏻‍♀️

Longer face here and my favorite thing to do is the air in the hair especially at the sides and not at top. However I’m also a soft dramatic so not sure if this works with everyone (so I think since I look awful in soft natural clothes)
Also my roots are dark and blonde balayage highlightish through the rest. Brings even more volume to the sides and less to the top

Thanks this was so helpful! I have a slightly longer face with a pointed chin and I used to always just have very long hair with central part, but I started experimenting with fringe/ bangs and I look and feel so much more confident. I prefer the curtain bangs on me because the full fringe feels like it’s blocking my face and I get oily under it so the curtain bangs are a lot more stylish and natural looking and freeing and it looks nicer if you are trying to grow out the fringe :)

A long face widens with a big smile!
It looks elegant, sophisticated and intellectual.
It looks good with several hair styles especially:
Pixie from the back look excellent due to the long hair design especially if it ends with a pointed tail.
Great buns because of their back length.
Hair pinned behind the ears with any type of hair like women from the forties used to wear.
It looks good with a medium cut that enlarges the face.
It looks stunning in Cher style.
Long faces age very well compared to other types of faces because older faces tend to shorten!
There is a maturity to a long face even if some looked older in their teens.
With simple make up a long face has dignity.
With plastic surgery the double chin can disappear and it’s content be repositioned at the sides of the lips, in the lips to enlarge them.
If in the mood to contouring: put white powder at the sides of the temples to erase the older look which gives a dark sunken shade.
Have nice well groomed eyelashes or have a good technician design them with tattoo.
Long faces, unfortunately, being out of proportion, tend to make people feel ugly but there is a glorious beauty which people love: the beauty of those who are not boringly perfect but can add a certain interesting characteristic to their beautiful moments: when you put the right make up and clothing.
    😂
Be grateful and be happy for the above gifts that nature gave you!

Im so interested in different cheekbones. Im mostly European, very square face pronounced cheekbones that come out off face sides but the end lower below my nose tip. My ex boyfriend is 1/2 native Canadian his are so short but sit high and almost horizontal. Even with a nearly same face shape. Now since someone pointed out cheekbones I cannot stop looking at everyone’s lol. I love them all! I also love your outlook on features. Nothing is ever wrong or out of place just can be looked at differently as an artist would. Accentuating different areas to bring harmony 💕

I have a long diamond shaped face. It's been years of confusion for me until I actually took a tape measure to my face. From center hairline to my chin is 8" long. I'm widest at my upper cheekbones-5.5", jaw and temples are the same width-4.5". I have rather balanced dimensions: 2" between my center hairline and my brows. 3" from my brows to the bottom of my nose and 3" from the bottom of my nose to the bottom of my chin. My whole life I've worn bangs of every sort.
I think deliberate is the word I use to describe my clothes and hair. I feel I fit the dramatic classic style catagory best. Traditional with a twist. I love simplicity, elegance, tailoring, with the slightest bit of edge or some element that keeps the traditional from looking boring.

Wow, this was really helpfull because it was so sophisticated how you payed attention to the fact, that not all long faces look the same and not everyone feels comfartable with the same vibes. Thank you! I have a long face (similar proportions like sarah jessca parker) and I think, I look better with long hair (at least to the collarbones) and without a fringe. My hair has very little volume and looks even thiner when it is shorter. Also bangs could look really thin and greasy if you have a wide forehead and fine sleek hair. When I was younger I once had a perm and I liked this too, but I'm not sure, if this style would still look great today in my 30s.

Thank you for your videos! You are gifted. I still remember the Monica Belucci Makeup you did. Looked just like her!
I want to share a tip Mark Taylor (Best haircuts ever! San Marino, CA) gave me about hair length. It is so true for my face/hair. I never looked good with hair above the shoulders. He said that if the length from the bottom of the bottom lip is short, hair above the shoulders looks good and if long distance lip to chin, hair longer than the shoulders looks good. I have a long face and long distance lip to chin. Also, straight hair works much better than curly. Seems counterintuitive, but true!

Thank you so much. I’m a soft gamine with a long face and high forehead. I can do long bangs almost to eyes with long waves for a French girl vibe or shorten my hair to collar bone length to increase volume on sides rounding out my hair and balance my face. I’ve also had beautiful long straight hair with a side part. My best tip is to smile, all your features move up and your cheeks fill out.

I am in this category. I was wearing bobs in red, purple or very often extra bright ginger colour and something was always not right. I couldn't say what it was. I am 43 y old and my mam was telling me all my life since childhood that with my type of a face i have to wear my hair shorter. And also that my earings should be very short. Than, 10 years ago i moved in different country and all of a sudden, no one was telling me anything like that. I grew my hair long, i part them in the middle and i changed colour for honey with blondish streaks. I started wearing long, long earings that i always admired and here we go! I just simply look great! No joke! Just for reference: i am 1.62 cm high and i consider myself to be a natural type. Btw thank you Ally for all your advices💚
