Today we get to revisit the Weytec MK06 again, and this time it WORKS! This took bleeding ages to produce, but I'm very happy it's up and running properly now. Hope you enjoy the video! :)

I'm Thomas and I do videos and reviews on mechanical keyboards ranging from the most sickening modern RGB gaming keyboards to vintage hardware relics, or sometimes keycaps or keyswitches ranging from Cherry MX to Alps SKCM to IBM buckling springs and anything in between.

The practice sentence was: "Hello my name is Thomas and I'm typing on a Weytec MK06 right now. This really is a fairly amazing keyboard - if it weren't for the awful switches I could use this thing forever!" Наука
This review can't be considered fully accomplished unless you play Doom on the middle LCD display...
Dario Copellino better yet, play it widescreen in triple-display config
110% agreed
Skyrim has already been re-re-re-released for it's LCD display.
He's right. Lag needs to be measured from keystroke up lcd display. This data is insufficient lol
I have never found anyone with a voice as soothing as this man's...
Someone mentions this every video. And it's still not said often enough. 🎈😊 👂 🎶 🎧 💙
@@tabba1376 Haha cheers guys xD .
Literally the only reason I watched this video was his voice.
He sounds exactly like ICARUSLIV3S who does the doom mod madness series. Same guy???
I came here for the keyboard, I stayed for the voice.
Taran from LTT would be salivating at the sight of this keyboard. So many keys lmao
It's still not enough. It's never enough keys.
@@noahdomingo1162 It's not the highest amount of keys I have on a keyboard at the least!
@@Chyrosran22 Even the sum of all the keyboards you own probably won't satisfy him
Chyrosran22 which keyboard holds that honor?
Indeed, the fact you can add macros with extra programmability and layers and so on, he would love this one. I wonder if LTT could work out a collab with Chyros, it would be friggin' amazing.
That's cool of them to send you one like that. It's not often that a company would go through the effort.
I guess our corporate overlords like it a little stiff yet flaccid...
If Weytec made a gamer/enthusiast version of this keyboard they'd sell like hotcakes. I'd pay $$$$ for it.
Oh yeah. Anyone who's ever played a flight sim would have a pile of functions to macro with this thing, or EVE, for that matter.
@@DFX2KX ARMA has tons of commands i've heard.
about 200-300 i think.
You probably wouldn't pay enough. The much simpler bloomberg keyboard is something like £300 and this would be much more.
Would be nice though if Waytec at least considered a cut down model for gamers.
@@tomkandy
they are really overpriced, specially because their clients are rich enterprises
Also, I must admit, I’m one of the weirdos that likes Clears. I’ve tried everything from Alps to buckling springs to Zealios, but I still use Clears daily
You must really enjoy eating plain lettuce with a glass of water, don't you?
Robert Kent ouch dude 😂

Oh man, there's so much I could do with this thing
I find an underrated channel, then I find your comment under every one of them. Almost every time. Just make your subs public already lmao
I love how accurate the unit conversion is
gotta love the imperial conversions
I loved the review back when you first reviewed it and I love this even review more!
Yeah especially with a relatively small RUclipsr
It's a bit worrying to think that some air traffic controllers could be depending on this over-complicated monster of a keyboard that apparently often randomly fails because of software issues.
But did you get it in time to short airline stocks?
Didn’t think I’d ever see a follow up on this one. Very neat! Thank you for sharing.
Yes! Very happy to see this one is fully functioning now :)
No way you finally got it running, I'm so happy!
Your diction is perfect and it's easy to understand the subtitles generated automatically! thank you
I have been able to work with this keyboard since 2007 to 2016. Fantastic to work with, more than 16-24 computers can operate with 5 to 8 image screens that can also be placed in alternating order. These were used at the Operational Center of the police, fire brigade and ambulance in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
It is a solid keyboard, very sturdy, certainly not lightweight.
If there was one for the home user, it will definitely be on my desk.
This is absolute overkill and I *need* one.
I'm in love with this keyboard, I can't get enough of it and I want it
I thought I was a bit creative when I measured something in Slug Feet per Space Shuttle but you're taking the cake with Imperial units.
Those guys are just so God damn awesome for sending you one of these things this is so cool!! Wish I could think them myself for sending you it
I'm now convinced I need one of these keyboards for now reason at all, just seems like perhaps it could come in handy one day. Never know what you'll need in an apocalypse.
Ok between the voice and the f-bomb, you got yourself a new subscriber. I'm not even thaat into keyboards
It seems to me that something like this would be perfect for streamers - like an integrated keyboard/stream deck.
Most streamers would be too lazy to RTFM :P
I am reminded about how much I want to have one of these behemoth keyboards and load it to the brim with macros...
4:50 I’m dead. Cherry Clear and ML users are crying.
This keyboard is so beautiful, I'm in love.
The color palette of this keyboard are beautiful
I don't know what's going on, I'm not even that interested in keyboards, but this man's snark is keeping me here! Bravo!
I wish there were more reviewers like you who focused on technical depth rather than overproduced intro animations. If I wanted to just read the specs I can look at the back of the box. This world needs more depth.
Finally, I can make my desk set-up look like a Jet Propulsion Lab control system.
Get on the phone with Waytec, that looks like a great foundation to build a device for streaming.
I've got no interest in keyboards yet i can't stop watching this dude's videos
It's like that Australian guy who fixes iPods.
@@dhoffnun That dude popped into my recommendeds and I can't stop watching him. The only problem is I literally hate Apple products. I guess personality sells...
@@ozmobozo In all fairness, there's an Australian youtuber I watch in large part for his accent XD .
@@Chyrosran22 is it the dude who cooks amazing things while swearing profusely?
Chyrosran22 Hugh Jefferys?
A keyboard similar to this that I can assign the keys to open programs in a window manager (i3, specrWM, Qtile) as well as switch between workspaces would be amazing. Being able to use the screens as terminal would be a plus.
glad to see this thing got justice. I was a little disappointed when the first one was locked out.
That is an amazingly beautiful keyboard
That is one sexy keyboard!
I wish the LCD took SPI or I2C (or something), so I could hack some custom control UI together.
Damn, I'm a long time subscriber, and I just came back tot he channel. 68k? That's insane since when! I remember it being at under a thousand.
Hey, I'm new to this whole "mech keyboards as a hobby" thing and I stumbled upon your videos. Great job and thanks for the content, it's super informative! I currently type on a k70 Rapidfire, but I'm a bit annoyed by the accidental key presses and the noise of the board. I just bought an igk61 to test some switches just like you did and was wondering what you would recommend for a Silent ISO layout setup? Cheers from Switzerland!
Such a cool keyboard! I wish this brand would make a consumer variant of some sort.
Very cool Video again. I absolutely want these keycaps
This is amazing ...love it.
I would really like to get this keyboard...it's sooo cool
I love the mx clears
Me too, it's a good switch
better than mx poop 🧐
Replace it with 62g slow curve springs and you'll have the endgame switch
Awesome device! Quite overloaded, but not like other keyboards loaded with useless stuff. Everything on this one is not only purposeful and useful for its target market, but also clearly usable. Love the fact that it does not need external software. Would be interesting to see what kind of controllers or microprocessors it has inside. I mean, looks like it might be more powerful or handle more complex IO options than let's say your typical Raspberry Pi. Could be regarded as effectively a computer embedded in a keyboard, and with quite a lot of extra I/O options at that.
Your voice is really soothing.
Can you use this "keyboard" to control your cameras?
Having a keyboard like this and putting Box Navies in it would be a dream.
Truly some next level keeb
I have this board at work. I have a module for a KVM terminal and a CCTV video matrix. And I programmed in some stuff I use all the time.
You will not make many mistakes because you will not have enough strength to push the keys anyway
This would be sooo good as a DAW controller in my home studio!
I would like to know your thoughts on the razer blackwidow elite, which is faaarrr more cheaper now than its 160 USD price tag. Saw one some time ago for 90 usd or so. Thanks for reading this if you do!
"Hello my name is Thomas and I am typing on a Wey tec MK06 right now. This really is a fairly amazing keyboard - if it weren't for the fairly awful switches I could use this thing forever Q "
The AMSR of "magically unfucked itself" was great
Can you send a result of the calculation from calculator to the computer as key presses (text)?
No, not that I'm aware of, unfortunately.
Is there some place I can easily buy one of these? It would work great for my 2 pc's and I even like stiffer switches so this seems like the perfect keyboard for me tbh especially because of the easy to program macros
SomeWHERE.
Well I do feel like I’ve seen a keyboard model endgame. The one you pull out at meet ups just to tell a story.
Those keycaps look amazing
Oh God, I'm in love
Goofing on imperial units just made me spit out my coffee. Only a few millilitres tho.
Cherry mx clear has the LEAST flaccid tactility and is used as the base for some of the best cherry mx inspired tactile switches like zealeos, but the tactility is still very flaccid compared to something like alps.
Personally cherry mx clear is my favorite cherry mx switch, though that isn't really saying much. The reason is, I think it's the ONLY switch they make that is best in class, however it is a class very few people actually like. (Non-linear weighting to help train you not to bottom out). Personally I think the best way to compare it is like compressing the shocks on a car, you know how it gets stiffer the harder you push down on it? That is the first thing I thought of when I first used them.
ALL Y'ALL " ' !
I laughed way too hard at that.
And I laughed in Metric, like a proper Canadian.
@/X/EN *sips my maple syrup loudly* Sorry, can't hear you over all my Metric! Hahahaha! ; )
I wonder if the calculator can inject the answer into the input buffer?
Nice review Chyros, as always ;)
Oh and also, you should ask NovelKeys to send you some NK_ Sherbets and Blueberries, they're tactile and clicky switches. The sherbets are said to have a sharp and very tactile bump thanks to their clickbar. The blueberries have been described by Taeha Types to have a very rounded bump (more so than Holy Pandas), which sounds like it would be an interesting "mechanical rubber dome" switch to review!
I'll see what I can do!
Sorry if I'm overwhelming you with requests
Wow, I'm early.
BTW that's a huge keyboard
5 videos in and I still don't know why I'm watching fucking keyboard reviews at 2 am.
this is the coolest keyboard ive ever seen
Oh my God, I need this keyboard
I literally sometimes rewatch these only because of the unit system conversions.
How many times? In Imperial units, please.
Wow this thing is insane
I remember this beast!!
I know nothing about keyboards this just looks really cool
I'd love to see you fit it with box clickbar switches that would be so so amazing!
Any way to still get one of these? Would be awesome to have and mess around with.
Who knows? When they stop supporting it, they might empty their inventory :) .
@@Chyrosran22 man that would be a dream, this is literally and end-game keyboard for me, and I do use a KVM on my daily battlestation so being able to do that with a nice GUI on the keyboard.... mmmmm... would be an excellent way to use these two bags of box pink clickbar switches I got from novel keys a while back also... oh well, a guy can dream... sadly my saved search for these on ebay for years has not produced any results
That battleship is to die for.
Oh, this is definitely not a battleship! xD Even for a battlecruiser it's not very wide at all :) .
Where can I buy this one?
Will this FULLY FUNCTION under Linux as well as Windows (7 Pro)? :-)
thank you for using meric
Someone should port Doom to this. We can't have a device with a screen that doesn't run Doom. We simply can't.
But can you play doom on the keyboard alone?
holy shit, I'd want 1 of these but with tkl but as a side tray that can actually slide out and you can use, and slide back in that you can stow it away
Make some Ergo Clears and review them
i just *need* this
is it possible to buy this from you?
I’ve got one of these but I have spent a year looking for a converter box :(
Yeah, I've seen a couple pop up, but they never have the box.
Take your online poker to the next level with the Dealers button. Srsly though what a beauty. Configurability for days
How to describe this keyboard better than Hugh Mungus, also a question what is your opinion on QS1 switches that are used in SteelSeries APEX M800?
Looks so cool. Even more than "gamer" keyboards. (For me)
it's beautiful
How in the HELL have I never found your channel before now!? Liked, Sub'd, Bell'd! Shelving the fact that, based on your apparent Keyboard Inventory, I hate you (jealousy; don't take it personally), I f-ing LOVE you and your content.
I love how he hates the Imperial measurements.
Imperial is better than metric. Using base 12 all the main fractions ( quarter, third, half and their multiples) are whole numbers, which makes mental arithmetic MUCH easier, nobody needs a calculator. Two thirds of a metre is 66.66666666666666666666 etc. cm, two thirds of a yard is exactly 24 inches or 2 feet.
My damn American brain is too rigid to even visualize metric dimensions without doing the math. That's right, I said *math*, because _we Americans only have ONE!_
@@Jtzkb Moving the decimal point only works if you are multiplying/dividing numbers that end in zeros.
Jtzkb better to have crashed an orbiter than to have never put an orbiter into space at all.
@@twoshedsjackson6478 nice copypasta
does this keyboard have a Bluetooth and wireless module?
No, it's VERY wired xD .
I need to hear this specimens voice on the radio
I'm curious: do you not dabble in the custom keyboard scene? Just speaking of switches there are so many different ones that are coming out and it would be very interesting to see you review these new switches
Different switches*** I obviously know that some are just recoloured old switches
@@randomgoose01 Yes, I was just going to say that to me they're practically all the same xD .
@@Chyrosran22 (I'm hyped, I don't remember the last time a RUclips replies to comments) there's this new tactile switch from novel key called blueberries that apparently has a different bump then most other tactile switches. And a new linear switch called h1 that is apparently smoother than vintage blacks. There's a new linear switch coming out from thick thock called marshmallow that according to them also is a new design. It would be very interesting to see you maybe just go through a bunch of these in one video as I assume it would be hard to get a decent video from just reviewing one switch.
@@randomgoose01 I'd rather do a short video on just one switch tbh, it maintains focus. Some of those switches I'm trying to acquire atm.
@@Chyrosran22 Awesome, also, maybe consider reviewing some Frankanswitches? With your experience and expertise I feel like if you started reviewing these switches you would attract a lot of the mk community and I would love to see them as well ☺️
haha love your dis of imperial units :P
you should make a keyboard museum
you seem like the type of guy that likes crt monitors also
will you consider doing crt monitor reviews in the future?
just an idea
I don't do monitors, but I did review two computers with CRTs inside them, which was quite fun :) .
IT WORKS!
Really cool video. I am developing open source modular keyboard with very similar layout to this Weytec, and an LCD too (as a calculator, setup screen, and to show back status from the computer, i.e. display arbitrary info, like time, email messages, twitter, CPU load, memory usage, etc). It is going to have a bit more keys that this one, and have tilted back, but the tilted back would be on hinges, so you can fold it flat if you want, or detach it. It is still in early stages of design and prototyping, but I did spend some time on it already. :D
Macro keys are obviously cool, but as I am mostly interested in codying, and not making keyboard too different from other keyboards, I have pretty standard F1-F12 key row, with 3 groups of 4 keys each, and separated Esc key. I don't like F1-F12 keys with no separators between keys like on this Weytec MK06. This is mostly because I use F1-F12 keys a lot as my text editor I use for two decades is using them a lot for everything.
Such a gamer keyboard
