OG VIDEO; • Corey Taylor - Snuff (...
ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

Have a great day!!

Corey could sing the phone book and I would still listen.
@@timharrison1371 badum tss
I would buy that record
Because you want to fuck him, not because he's a good singer.
Well said. Then I'd hear it again as read by Morgan Freeman. Lol
He has, and its amazing!
The best thing to do is immediately follow this up with something like "People = Shit' or 'Sic' and try and imagine that it's the same person.
100%true
Always follow this song with Disasterpiece.... Its sadness turning into pure hatred...
hilarious man! @@erichargrove2287
Axl Rose has the same effect
Stratomies niin saatanasti Yeah, but Corey doesn’t have the baggage of being considered a world-class asshat by half the people he’s worked with.
"I really love his rasp." Well dear, if you really love his rasp, I've got a few albums of his that will show exactly what that rasp is all about!
I wonder what those albums are...
HHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Iowa and We Are Not Your Kind
AAHAHAH BRUH
I WEEEEEEEEEPT
WHEN I REALIZED
Can even add Subliminal Voices to one of the albums even if a more clean album production wise than all the others
Corey is (in my oppinion) one of the best and most versatile rock / metal singers of our time. he is not only the lead singer for Slipknot, but also for Stone Sour. Check out their songs aswell, the tone is completely different from what he does with Slipknot.
The vocalist of slipknot when unmasked, looks the same as the vocalist of stone sour
@Elver Antisoda II r/wooooooosh
Ya his vocals are insane
My favorite thing to do is play "wait and bleed" , then "bother" to some one who doesn't understand my love of metal. Then say it's the same lead singer. It's greatness to watch their reaction!
Hirgandor hell yea my opinion best in business next to Howard Jones
I see Corey, i press Like.

You are a simple man. As am I
I feel you bro.
you skipped the best part 4:42 SO SAVE YOUR BREATH I WILL NOT CARE when the depression and bargaining turns to anger and acceptance
Terrible timing on your pausing. That is the one of the most emotional lines to the song and should have been in there
Yup I was very disappointed by that, it’s my favorite part of the song ☹️
Ugh, totally skipped the part I anticipate every time I listen to the song.
@FructoseComa wouldn't surprise me. some videos like this get hit with lame copyright claims, even though it should be fair use. if that happens then a video gets demonetized
Thought i was the only one that noticed, that line gets me every time 💔
Rock and metal music has more heart than any other music genre. More emotion and more rawness
Have you heard old school Blues or Soul?
Jordan Moorman that’s where many get their inspiration from, and classical. Many people think they are brainless idiots but in reality they are not and some of the most talented and artistic along with very intelligent people you would ever meet.
This man said old school blues and soul got more heart/emotion/RAWNESS? Lmao my good sir have YOU heard rock/metal?
@jvalex18 Don't need to prove shit. Just listen to any modern pop, it's so emotionless and forced.
Honestly I love metal for it's breadth of subject matter. Sure you have the usual suspects but you can also find albums about The Silmarillion, or hunting a dragon, or military history etc.
Never in a million years when Slipknot first arrived on the scene did anyone imagine that Corey could do such a performance.
Just beautiful.
Really emotional song.

When I look back at wait in bleed I know he had a great voice and can sing. But yes over time and age I like it.
R.I.P Paul Gray. still hurts to see Corey almost cry singing the song.
Can't spell the man's name wrong or I'm an ass.

Absolutely! Love Corey Taylor!
Yea except snuff is about a chick
@@jamesbean7612 yes it's about a girl, but this was the last song Paul wrote before he died. So Corey gets emotional when he sings it.
starryeyes982 "Corey doesn't really write music for Slipknot - but, when he came over to hear the songs Paul [Gray, bassist] and I were working on for All Hope Is Gone, he showed me this… I had him lay a scratch track down in the studio. Then I went in late at night, without telling him, and laid down some drums… When he heard it the next day, he started crying. It's Corey's masterpiece." - Joey Jordison. No no he didn’t it’s all Corey and only Corey sorry to burst your bubble
Corey Taylor is an amazing person. Very down to earth and super chill. He's an amazing vocalist and lyricist, He also fronts one of the most successful metal bands from the past couple of decades.
Some might go as far as to say one of the most successful of all time.
@@kermitthefrog1208 some might even say one of the best of all time.

Yes, and so is H.I.M's version
And "Lightening Crashes" so good
"The Neck" is one of the best!
Well obviously you now have to react to Corey Taylor in his persona as #8 in the band Slipknot (this is actually a Slipknot tune although I've never seen the band do it live). The Slipknot list of songs is huge, always best live of course (and RUclips has a lot of great live Slipknot videos available) - Surfacing, Duality, Spit it Out, Wait and Bleed, Devil Inside are notable favorites of mine (and many folks). These are straight up raw metal (different people will argue different sub-genre, but Slipknot is metal first, sub-genre second), the lyrics are much, much more aggressive, but still meaningful. Again this demonstrates the versatility which can exist in metal. So please, pick a different Slipknot track, react and compare.
They've done the song live quite a few times.
@@duncanhainsworth5063 No doubt. I just have not seen it at a concert I've attended and have yet to view a really first class video of it in the media. So not that they've never done it live, its that I've not seen it.
@@cyberdan42 oh okay, now i understand, at least you were lucky enough to see them live, i fear ill never get the opportunity.
out of all songs the first song you recommend is surfacing XD thats a little rough for a first exposure to the heavier side of slipknot huh

Any one looking forward to Slipknot soft version.
Slipknot - Circle
Slipknot - Danger keep away
Slipknot - Goodbye
Slipknot - prelude 3.0

You wanna really hear his rasp? Listen to bother by stone sour.
One of the best songs I've ever listened to
I've listened to that song since I was 11 years old. It's still excellent.
Zzyzx Road is better
Also tired and his rainbow in the dark cover \m/
Zac Fick oooh. That’s a brave statement. Both are really good
I really love how Rebecca also pays attention to the lyrics and emotions too
I'd love to see you react to a heavier Slipknot song. Don't get me wrong, I love this song and their other lighter melodic stuff but I've never seen someone react to their screaming vocals. I think it'd be interesting. Either way great video!
You might try her raction to Pisces by Jinjer, she really nails it and understands metal better than most "coaches" around.
Psychosocial.
Buddy Kaiser people = shit or the heretic anthem
Buddy Kaiser Eyeless
METABOLIC!
When people say metal band vocalists can't actually sing:
This. SO much this. Corey is incredible, and so many other metal singers as well.
Only people who don’t listen to rock say that.
Pretty much all screamers can sing this soft due to screaming being the hardest on the vocals . But the way corey does it is so bloody good
Go look up Eluveitie. The main vocal's growls are insane, but when you hear him sing clean, the atmosphere is amazing.
Metal vocalists can't sing??? Bruh wtf!? They can sing and the screaming also requires talent and trained skill
Snuff is amazing....and vermilion...and pretty much everything he does Slipknot stone sour or by himself. My favorite ever n possibly the best ever🤘
Stone sours amazing
Oh, Vermillion Pt.1 and 2 are both on the very top of my Slipknot favorites.

I think the live version of Heretic Anthem would be a little better but then again I'm biased cause that's like my favorite Slipknot song ever

Snuff is an amazingly emotional song in both performance and lyrics.
Not Corey Taylor, but I'd recommend checking out the song "Blackbird" by Alter Bridge. Fantastic vocals and incredibly emotional.

She is an empath. She can feel every emotion. Everything he feels she can feel. You can see it in her emotions when the song starts. You have a beautiful soul and I’m so happy I came across your channel
It's called being human. No o e is an empath. We all recognize our own emotions in others. Nothing special. This isn't star trek.
@@dubsspilly5864 Being an empath is different than feelings one emotion. Empath isn't that simple. Feeling what we feel, see. Isn't the extent of it. It's an extreme effect 9 times of 10. Can be debilitating, from family, friends, unknown, movies. Doesnt matter. Empaths feel so much it makes us sick.

I'm glad you watched this, Corey is one of the greatest of this generation of metal and hard rock. He can scream with Slipknot and sing with Stone Sour, always full of emotions, powerful voice. Also a great bright mind, always refreshing to hear him talk in interviews or in his books. Bother is also a great powerful song in the same vein as Snuff. I'm glad you watched him and David Draiman.
Exactly. David is a legend too.
Bother from this very live gig is amazing. Especially for crowd participation:)
Would be interesting to see an interview with Marilyn Manson and Corey Taylor, like talkshow or answering worried parents..
It would leave no surviours i'm sure
A quick explanation of why corey is so emotional every time he is singing that song. It reminds him of paul grey who was the bassist of slipknot and one of his closest friend. He died 6 months after the release of the album "all hope is gone".
Oh Crikey that's so awful! Thanks for explaining
what numadread says is 100% true this is the last song he worte with paul grey before he died . But the song is really straight forward and talks about a girl that he loved and and that he did not deserve. The second part (starting with 'I still press your letters to my lips') talks about him missing her and her not fighting to keep their love strong. In the end she sold him out to save herself, meaning that she used him.
Rest in peace Paul Grey ❤️
And the song "Devil in I" opens solemnly with the lyrics "Undo these chains my friend...".
Everything right, exept you got your dates wrong there. All Hope Is Gone was released in august 2008 and Paul died in may 2010, so almost two years later.
Corey is a tremendous singer. This song really hits the spot..
One of the best out there for sure man. Hard to believe this is the same guy who leads for Slipknot. I know so many people that didnt believe me at first ahaha
The G spot
Corey is not only a great vocalist but a great lyricist. He really is a unique and talented man. x ❤️ x P.S. Your hair looks lovely, Rebecca! xx
I totally agree its almost like poetry. He can put into words things most people cant
Unlike what people believe, this song is not about Paul Grey. It is about a past relationship.
""This is the slow one. It's another personal one. Again, not naming names, it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down. At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory." - Corey Taylor"
Arjun Salwan well of course it’s not about him, it was written before he died. He still dedicated the song to him when he sings it though
It was the last song he worked on with paul before he died, hence the dedication
Corey has been on record saying he also dedicates it to Paul since his death.
Paul was the one who helped record it when Corey first went to the studio i believe and thats why he links/dedicates it to him
RIP Paul
You should react to Slipknot’s new song “Unsainted”
As long as there is video of her. Her accent when she speaks is like polished glass, so elegant.
😍
Lmfao 😂
Yeeees unsainted is so perfect
Still hasnt done it
He dedicates this song to his old bass player when he plays it live. Still an open wound here, as you can tell.
RIP Paul
With you there brother this song since has always been hard for me to get through 🖤 stay strong fellow maggots 🖤 R.I.P Paul your never forgotten x
There's a live performance where he brokes down in tears in the middle of the song
Snuff was on the all hope is gone album, of which paul was still alive for? I think this is actually about another relationship in his life
@@tylermartin5933 at the time it wasn't for Paul, but now that he's passed, the song has taken on a new meaning for him. He dedicates this song to Paul whenever he does it live.
Listening to this song in my 20’s hits differently.
“It took the death of hope to let you go.”
I'm in my 20's and I use this song as fkn therapy at this point....
Funny how the cycle just repeats sometimes..
For the fans of this band. This song is hard for all of us. I cant listen to snuff without crying because I know what its about and it hurts
For real! I can't listen without tears
Snuff is one the most deepest and emotional songs ever written....when he performs Snuff live it becomes something that you cannot explain 🤟 Corey......Thank You !
what is it about?
@@inDAhole176 it’s about unreciprocated love, white lies and betrayal by someone you thought held you close to them
Yeah, this one is one of my favourite too. When I started to listen this one, I didn't understand the lyrics except for a few sentences but it still made me wanted to cry.
corey taylor is a 6 octave singer who has been doing it professionally since he was 16 or 17 years old,and performs around 250 live shows a year ,either with slipknot, stone sour,or his solo tours.
he is an amazing songwriter.
imo him and mike patton (also a 6 octave singer) are some of the best vocalists out there.
they can sing any style of music and have it sound amazing.
Either way those 2 singers along with Geoff Tate & Bruce Dickinson are some ranging mothers.
Don't forget about Myles Kennedy.

@@MrJackcorgi I totally agree & hope to see some vocal coaches reacting to some of his best work.

he isn`t invoking emotion, he`s hurting by singing this...
Thats what invoking means. To invoke is to bring out or to conjure.
.thus invoking emotion......
This is for Paul Gray who convinced him to keep the song because he loved it.
R.I.P Paul Gray ;(
But he isnt invoking it, how he sings it now is much different from when it was written due to the meaning thats been attached to it. Emotion is added to the song due to pauls death, it was never written to invoke how it does now, which again isnt intentionally being done, if anything the song invokes emotion from corey
@@tackleberry9386 Which invokes emotion from the listener.

He's not always able to hold it and, imo, it only makes the song much more powerful
@@TrueDeathblacK I think the crowd interaction in this specific performance is bringing out more emotion from Corey because he does look like he’s in the edge a couple of times
This song for some reason makes me cry it triggers something inside me, I push all my emotions down and music brings it out
Theres a badass video of him singing for a dave grohl song in the studio, and he destroys it on the first take and they’re like, “you need to warm up? and he’s like, nah i think i got it”.
From can to can't! One of my favorite songs, much like Snuff, the lyrics to that song are so deep. Of course Corey knocks that one out of the park as well. To ANYONE who has NOT heard that song, check it out, you won't be disappointed!!!
From can to can't is the song's name. Such an awesome tune
That's how I found him. I told someone that's a voice I'd love. When told he sang for Slipknot I wondered why as I'd only heard an early noise song. But then I hit some from the 3rd album on when his voice & the music started to have a musicality to it. Each album blew me away more. I'm nervous since the new album's supposed to go back to Iowa which isn't my bag but we'll see.
@@ItsLoriK Well he did for years tell the rest of the band he wanted to do more melodic songs. But that ran counter to what slipknot as a band was. Which is why Slipknot isn't... take that back they have a album releasing this year? Yea, it's been 5 years since their last album an in that time Stone Sour (Corey's band) has been releasing albums Bi-Annually(more or less) since 2012

Corey is one of them best singers. He has such a beautiful smooth voice yet strong when he needs it to be. Not to forget he's a really good musician and he's handsome

Corey Taylor is such a huuge inspiration to me, it was really nice to see you do a video on him!
Yep.
Corey Taylor has musical range. I was floored when I heard Stone Sour after being used to him in Slipknot. I remember hearing that Stone Sour was his older project, but his musical range is impressive.
Try finding the song Bertha by stone sour, its an old demo track but Corey exhibits his maximum range in this song, it doesnt even sound like its him singing.
At 3:54 are the crowd doing a harmony part by themselves!?!? Haha that's great
And off beat of course lol
Corey's voice on stripped versions like this one never fails to get me in the feels.
There is a video of Corey singing this song where he breaks down while singing the song. It’s pretty heavy to watch, i was in tears myself the first time watched it (to be honest 2nd, 3th and 4th time as well). I can related to some shit he had been trough, so every time i see something from Corey that i can 100% relate to, I will most likely be in tears.
I like him, he isn’t afraid to show his emotions and let his voice be heard. He is a wonderful person.
As a maggot (Slipknot fan) of almost 16 years, This was his best show. All for Paul, miss him so much man. Got to met all of them after OzzFest 2004, most genuine, funny, and caring group of dudes on the planet.
I can feel the emotions with every lyric. Corey Taylor is an absolute legend that truly deserves the upmost respect.
I can't help but think that this song was originally meant for a Stone Sour album. I guess it doesn't really matter which band cuz it's just him basically on the studio version anyway. But this is definitely more of a Stone Sour vibe
@@brandonhinrichs8657 It was actually for Slipknot.. Corey stated that himself. But I agree that it does have that Stone Sour vibe to it.
Glad it ended up on a Slipknot record after all. #RIPPaulGray
Absolutely adore this song.
The origin of this song was about his ex wife but Corey taylor changed it after one of his band members died. That's why it's hard for him
You mean he changed the song or the origin of the song?
It was one of Paul's (the band member) favourite melodies and he would often just sing it. So it's now dedicated somewhat to him
it's not about his ex wife. it's about someone who helped him through hard times that he caught feelings for. she never felt the same way about him though.
That whole one man show in London was great. You might want to try out his performance of *Bother* from the same show. One of the best examples of great audience participation I've ever seen. Also, for his "scary berserking beast" side, check out some Slipknot. I'd recommend Some of his early stuff for pure blissful insanity. Maybe their song *Liberate* (see if you can keep up with the middle part in that, it's absolutely bonkers ;))

The original story to this song is along the lines of : guy loves girl but girl doesn't love him back but lies and says she does because she's afraid of what he'll do to himself if she tells him the truth... And the inevitable fallout once he does find out. Or that's at least my best interpretation after looking into it.
That is the exact meaning I find in this song too, and after experiencing this exact situation a few weeks ago after a 6 month relationship, I have listened to this on repeat Corday and his music have helped me through the darkest times in my life and I have him and the rest of stone sour/slipknot to thank for me still being here today

this was a part of the corey taylor acoustic live show in londen, the whole show is amazing. the other song from this performence you should listen is,
bother
taciturn, both are amazing songs by lyrics and voice
This song makes me cry every time. Great review!
Snuff and So Far Away, the two songs never fail to made me cry on the bus back home from school, no matter how many times i listen to them.
I love your content and I tapped pretty hard to watch this vid as soon as I saw it on my feed. Wicked Games cover from Corey Taylor is just as amazing or even better
Agreed!! I love all of his works but it is one of my favs!
This song has been engrained in me and I still jam to this since I went through a breakup "it took the death of hope to let you go!" THE FEELS
This song makes me bawl all the time. Coreys raw vocals and strong emotions in this song break me down every time.
Well.......now you gotta do Slipknot
Well... She just did.
@@befrnigela song but.... this is Corey Taylor solo.
Yeah but this is Corey Taylor not the Eight, big difference
@@danielMayheM13 8 ? 😎
The crowd of this concert was amazing. He performed a song called “Bother” and it has to be one of the best crowd interactions I’ve seen in a live performance
I can agree. He played bother live when I saw him in September.
Rebeca I love your stuff your the only vocal coach on RUclips I take seriously keep going girl great job !
He was singing that song afther he lost a band member in Slipknot who died.
Not only a band member but a really good friend/brother -> Family
Rest In Peace Paul Gray 😭😢❤️
It was originally about his ex-wife that left him, After Paul passed, It became his song dedicated to Paul, So Alot of emotional Baggage in the song.
@@TheArachne It became a tribute to Paul, because it was the last single Slipknot released with him.
This was Paul's favourite song too
You should really check out Pearl Jam - black (mtv unplugged). I think you will be pleasantly surprised
I think she'll be frickin heartbroken.
This comment earnt my like
shinncinati23 yes!!
I mean, she better know who Eddie Vedder is, he’s a fantastic singer. She should react to Temple of the Dog - Hunger Strike and get a taste of Vedder and Cornell together
That ain't "sweat from the brow" that's tears from his eyes
Corey teylor is one of the best singers i've ever heard! He has an incredible power to perform both "Clean vocal " and " Scream " amazing , he is a great artist, if you want to chek out some scream from him , try some "slipknot"
He and David from disturbed are in my top 5 for sure I also add Ronnie radkie and Andy biersak
Corey also can rapping too, listen at 'slipknot - spit it out'
Snuff is such a meaningful song and I love it so much.
Slipknot and linkin park are not just band they are family❤❤❤
I wanted to see chester once in slipknot but it will never happen💔😭🙃😔💔

Please react to Epica - Storm the sorrow or Cry for the moon
Asking for help from the audience because he is on the brink of breaking when singing this song !!
This is my favourite version of my favourite song by my favourite singer. Its like a punch to the throat.
