      So far, only saw 1 bear way way off- like 14 miles by following road around canyons. Not possible to go straight at it. By the time I got to the ridge "across" from him, he had vanished. I stayed 3 hrs til dark waiting for his reappearance, no dice! However, I tried, I did a 12mile round trip attempt on snowed in roads that kicked my ass but just didnt work out, BUT I dont have to wonder "IF" I coulda made it happen? I gave it %110 & it just wasnt meant to be. If I were to do it again, Id do it EXACTLY the same! Im headed back out in a couple days to try again. Nothing against rifles, but me n my bow ARE going to be successful. Im going to shoot one from under 40 yards! I will report back WHEN Im successful!

    I think my favorite part or what ElkShapes team produces is the CONSTANT message that EVERY ONE of us can continue to get better!!! Better shooting, better stalking, better calling, better physical conditioning, Better MIND SET!! Positivity makes me believe that I can and will continue to get better, and when I positively believe it and practice with intent, I get better!! from 1 Spokanite to others- Positivity begets positivity! Love the message, motivation, and using a passion (hunting and elk) to stay at the 365 method! As Always, Thanks! You guys help keep me motivated!

    I have studied martial arts a few years and the thing I learned is in the beginning it's 90% physical 10% mental and as you become "good" at the physical the balance tips the other direction. Joel has taught me more in a few minutes than all the hours i've watched others videos. Thanks

    When my target panic was the worst was the era when I was listening to others about how to do it correctly and telling myself I need to quit hammering the trigger. When I finally decided I AM a trigger jerker and did pretty good at it my shooting settled down and got a lot better, while still jerking the trigger. That was in the 90's and I was regularly shooting 370's and above at 3D with fixed pins and release.

    While I'm hunting my thought process is asking myself what am I gonna do with the ball when I get it! And play it out in my head, so when the moment does come it's like second nature. My old high school baseball coach would ask us that all the time, "What you gonna do with the ball when you get it" it's stuck with me my whole life, and I'm 52 now. Love your content! 👍

    I always talk myself through the entire shot process when I am about to kill an animal with my bow.
    However I do suffer from some forms of target panic.

    When you aren't going through your process, we used to call it "just shootin' arrows" because that's all you're doing. Just sending arrows downrange.

    Finger punching. Is not pulling through the shot. But, that's gonna change I'm thinking. One thing for sure is if your back end is working CORRECTLY, it really really reduces anxiety. Been there! You HAVE GOT TO HAVE A POSITIVE MINDSET. And sometimes it takes a lot of work. Equate that from shooting your favorite rifle and hitting the mark. Just shoot enough to make it 100% part of you. Just shoot and don't put too much trash from your cluttered mind into it. It's hard to find but when you do it's so rewarding and satisfying. This guys teaching mind set which is like 90% of archery- physical ability and mental attitude. 👍👍🏹

    I'm suffering from target panic. I laughed at that stuff 25yrs ago. Took an injury to the shoulder and I didn't shoot for several yrs. I picked a bow back up and inherited a demon. Only with a bow, rifle I'm all good. I got a good and stern coach that I know gets frustrated with me. Some days I can hold good. Most days its a struggle.

    • @rorynelson7548
      @rorynelson7548 Год назад +1

      I hear ya there. I struggle with it every year. Really bad last summer. I watched Levi Morgan's videos on target panic and they helped me to relax. I have been shooting every day since last summer and the demon has stayed away. I really think most of it is actually when your muscles aren't used to it. I struggled with it the year before but once I started working out again and doing pushups, muscle built quickly and it got better. Now a days if my muscles are cold and it's a little harder to draw, the demon rears his ugly. But talking myself through the shot boots his ass out of there

      I started back with my neighbors wife's bow. 43# her spare bow. Shot 3 spot in their old milk parlor in the winter. The panic set in mid ways through 3D season. Id shoot good in their 3d range. Go to a club and id blow up. 100% between my ears.

      @timberg7377 3 года назад +3

      @@warrenmorgan304 I'm not putting him down, I know plenty of people the use him, and they love him, I just believe that people that have target panic, need a more laidback approach, having high stressed coaching, can make the target panic worse..
      I've been an instructor for year, and have had to teach people where their at, not where I want them to be.
      Sorry if it came off disrespectful, that was my intent, I'm sure Turner is a great guy..

    • @timberg7377
      @timberg7377 3 года назад +1

      @Kevin Rouse WOW, a coach is there to understand each student, and get to the bottom of what the problem is. After doing his assessment, then he builds a plan.
      I believe Turner is a great guy, I have seen several people that have gone to him, and what a difference, very impressive..
      My point being, is, if a student as target panic and you start tapping on his hat or making loud noises, you can influence the panic, to start.
      I don't mean any disrespect to Joel, he is a great coach, I just see things differently, especially with, target panic..
      Sorry if I come off disrespectful to Joel, not my intent.

      Hey Tim, I think what your feeling is not getting to see 100% of the “Joel Turner experience”. I spent all that weekend with Joel and found him to be humble, refreshingly honest, and a good person. The front half of his message IS to get you out of your comfort zone, make you feel uncomfortable, and then become more intentional and focused with the shot. Part 2 of Joel feels more like a hug with instruction on how to become better. It’s hard to see the man, in these small snippets of his interactions. Anyway, I’m a big fan of Joel and have a lot of respect for him after getting to know him 👍🏻 Hope your doing well friend 😊

    • @timberg7377
      @timberg7377 3 года назад +1

      @@THEBUGLERBRAND I truly ment no disrespect, I know several people that have had his help, and it's night and day, it just seems by the clips, he has one way, speaking from experience, as an instructor, some people can't handle balls to the wall, instruction.
      That's all my point is, I'm sorry if I wasn't clear, I truly ment no disrespect to him or you..
      God bless
