So glad to report that Method 2 worked for me! :) Chrome 79.0.3945.88 and I run Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series. I just added "--disable-audio-output-resampler --try-supported-channel-layouts" parameters at the and of the target box under properties. Notice that I separated the two parameters by single space - Im not sure this difference matters, but anyway, it works for me and that matters :)
This actually works really well. Tested on Amazon Prime Video, Pluto and Tubi Tv all of my speakers work and sound great. @@GameGeezer I totally know what you mean about those people who write out everything in word pad... if you're going to go to all the effort of creating and uploading a RUclips video, then at least record audio, it's not that hard... haha you did great man

What you are talking about is not surround sound support, but blowing up stereo signals. Surround music is very rare, and if it's on almost all songs, than it's not real surround sound.
Try unchecking "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in Exclusive mode under the Advanced tab in Speakers Properties. Some applications or web page tabs will lock other applications out.
Hahaha, you really nailed my friend! I had left, right and center speakers around the screen, so I didn't realized that the center one wasn't working, and now that I've moved left and right a little far from screen, I noticed my center speaker was quiet, and after searching a lot, I couldn't really find any solution for Chrome audio, it was still just 2.1, and then your video helped me! Thanks again :D
Method 1 didn't work because latest Chrome versions doesn't have that option anymore. Method 2 worked by adding the line "--try-supported-channel-layouts". Thanks!
Haha thanks for this. I used both the first method and Method 2 (--disable-audio-output-resampler--try-supported-channel-layouts) Not sure which one did it but I now have my 5.1 sound working. Took me an age to figure out it was a browser problem and not a sound card configuration. I can now watch Fox Now TV in 5.1. Here in Australia Fox Now only lets you use the Google Chrome browser.
Wow thats crazy about the browser limitation ! Glad to hear this Vid was able to help you out with your surround sound. Yeah pc audio it overly complicated still for some reason =c
update: you cant find that audio setting, searching by 'try', now you have to search that audio setting by typing 'audio'. after that you have to enable this 'WebRTC multi-channel capture audio processing.'.
Use all 3 settings combine, (--disable-audio-output-resampler --force-wave-audio --try-supported-channel-layouts) but it doesnt worked till i installed Reatek Audio Consile - then in options of 5.1 cheange to ON "The bass tone control feature allows you to boost or redirect frequencies below the crossover point..." smf like that/// AND IT WORKS!!!!!
Do NOT turn on speaker fill for surround sound. Speaker fill creates the same audio stream inside each speaker (Great to add volume to something, but will BREAK real surround sound). Surround sound creates the required audio stream as needed for the speakers placement within the 360 sound sphere (Hence the name Surround Sound).
with that flag enabled in /flags all videos for me started stuttering. Like you constantly pressing space and it's muting and unmuting itself every half second. Very weird. Disabling this fixed it but no 5.1 effect was present in it as well. All other methods also didn't work. Yet test of surround sound in 5.1 in windows works perfectly fine.
On Audio-Channels, for me it shows ' Mono ' and also ' Stereo :/ I legit have a 5.2 Surround sound system and i wirelessly connect my PC sounds / music / gaming sounds through my Bluetooth sending the Bluetooth audio out to the BlueTooth in my Sony 5.2 Surround Sound Setup

Funny it fixed my mono issue, but I checked to see if the //flags setting actually makes my SpeakerFill work and it doesn't. Oh well. I COULD try the other ways. I have windows speakers/audio set to 5.1 - I'm not worried really I doubt I would want to run stereo through my front L+R and REAR L+R and a mix in center.
hey my friend i have the same headset with you lg g430 , i think that dts or dolby through the logitech gaming software doesnt work. i change to dts or dolby and i cant see any difference.i even turn off dolby sound and i cant see any difference too,i try your methods but nothing worked...have you any idea?
Yeah, even with real 5.1 speakers, sound card and settings correct some files are just not made in anything more than mono or dual . And I sometimes like the fill because it only uses fill if 5 is not present. So at least my speakers still have some volume to them. Idk why pc is set up so bad when it comes to surround sound. I guess maybe a receiver and speakers could sort it out and always have surround sound but idk if that’s any better than fill is when the audio file playing is mono or dual ?
It works fine for me. At least the audio sounds more centered regardless of if I'm closer to the front or rear speakers. For any stereo source, it definitely gets the job done.
it works on all 6 channels but, there's a catch, in a proper 6 channels setup, u get different music and effects and or vocals each on separate but in this setting, sound comes from all 6 channels equally...is there anyway whatsoever to play it in the right way
First method worked!!! But I had to enable and disable it 3 times, first I had popping noise, second time middle speaker came with front speakers but bass and rear did not. Last time, everything works!!
Not sure what happened , i tried everything for a month knowing my RUclips and pandora would use all my speakers. The surround worked fine. I moved and set up my new Denon amp.( same just newer version) Windows plays 7.1 in testing and if i use dolbys surround sound test i downloaded it works great. But i stopped working again and im about to rip my hair out. I just want all my speakers on pandora and youtube again :(
Sadly, none of this is working for me. I have a Pioneer VSX-1131-K 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver, gigabyte gtx 970, GA-Z77X-D3H motherboard (rev 1.1). Blu-rays and video games work great though. Guild Wars 2 in 7.2 is amazing. I just can't stream anything beyond stereo :(
I did some more digging on RUclips and found a pro and a few other guys basically saying browsers do not output surround sound. I tried Microsoft Edge and Firefox too. Neither of them worked. A guy in my org for Star Citizen and a tech working for Pioneer said to use a Roku, Chromecast, or other streaming box.
@@GameGeezer If it works for you, let me know. I have an hdmi going directly from my graphics card to the receiver and then another hdmi cable from the receiver to the TV. Again, sadly, no surround in any browser, but it definitely works in video games (Ex: Guild Wars 2) and Blu-ray movies.

It says Sterio instead of 5.1 or 7.1
don't work :(
Poo , yeah it’s tough to get it goin on some pc
I noticed on my asus z270 I couldn’t get it to work but on my asus external dvd and sound card it ran perfect on the same pc.
Guess it just depends on hardware and drivers 😢
My Soundsystem is an 5.1 and in Movies or Demotrailer I got from friends it all works
Only in chrome there ist no 5.1
damn they must have took it away because i can't get that on chrome now.
same here it was on chrome a month ago now its gone
Try method 2 " --try-supported-channel-layouts". It worked for me.
This is why I hate updates 😅
Chrome is a pain in the ass, Firefox works fine.
FireFox works perfectly, But chrooomee on the other haaand...
--try-supported-channel-layouts
worked for me
No it doesn't work!
NOT WORKING, wtf? take down this video man... respect our time
don't work :(
Sorry my friend, you never know if it will or not because everyone has different pc specs , hardware, drivers ect
But it helps probably 6 out of 10 people so I keep it in RUclips
