They should definitely keep the transforming creature concept around, it would be so horrifying to think you just cheesed some tall menace, only for it's body to distort and continue following you!
i hope they give the warden that feature because right now it seems like you can easily cheese the warden by standing on some tall pillar (like the iron golem) or go through a 2x1 tunnel. it should be able to unnaturally deform its body to fit through any space, likely surprising their unsuspecting victim who just thought they got away easily.
@@geeworm I think it's likely that it'll have another trick up it's sleeve to prevent that. Some cool ideas I've seen around is the ability to spread sculk to wherever the player is and trap them in a sculk trap block, or that the stalker is added in as a separate mob and helps corner the player.

Same here. I think people tend to forget this is an actual thing and not just an internet meme. So yeah, I’m glad they didn’t stick with it, even though the texture they had as a showcase wasn’t really that intense.
It would be cool if you could put iron blocks in water to make them oxidize and get them to rust, that would add another great aesthetic block. And if you wanted to put iron underwater without it rusting, you'd just wax it, just like the recently added copper. :)

the amount of insight into lore here is really fascinating. the iterations with disease and corruption are very terraria-esque, and i really like the one where you can see into the fabric of reality. not to mention the gorey ones that really show just what kind of dark lengths they were considering going to to create a creepy effect.
i think the concept of a tall, lanky, lopsided mod is completely alien to Minecraft and would be terrifying, wish we could've gotten it in game but I'm so excited for the warden in 1.19
Woah! I love that the prototype warden has the void-y end portal visual effects in its texture! Something about that parallax void really makes it feel hollow like they described in the concept video. As if there's a vast hollowness with a heavy appetite encased in this sentient husk hunting you down to engulf you and become one with the hollow. Neat.

Looking at some of the more out-there designs has me kinda disappointed with the warden we got. It's sort of just the most standard design of those. It just has the usual head, arms, limbs, body like any other mob that's just made of skulk with no story.
I disagree, the asymmetry really sells the "not right" look, really ads to the creep factor. I hope to see an iteration on the stalker one day make it in
What if they made like a warden species with all of their warden prototypes and they could have varying levels of power and separate biome themes still part of the deep dark
hearing that the warden was going to be called the stalker suprised me. before the warden was anounced I had added a suggestion of the feedback website called the stealth stalker, it was invisible and agressive. It was made into a discussion and then removed. Makes me chuckle how I almost stumbled across the warden before it was revealed.

Update Aquatic got the mod "Upgrade Aquatic", Pillage and Village got "Savage and Ravage", Bugs and Bees got "Buzzier Bees", etc? I think they meant trypophobia. That is the fear of irregular clusters of small holes, like those found on the lotus seed pod. There are some pretty good photoshops of it out there.
The different corruption concepts seem amazing. The different corruptions remind me of the three different corruptions in Terraria. I feel like having different kinds would be very interesting and the idea that you might have to isolate/quarantine and area to stop any spreading would be nice.
3:00 those- teeth- things... They're absolutely horrifying! They genuenly sent chills down my spine, I wouldn't be surprised to find that in a good horror game
I’m so glad they didn’t go with the trypophobia one. It was hard enough for me looking at the concept art; I had to look away for most of it, and I don’t think I’d be able to play that part of the game or watch episodes from youtubers that focused on that part of the game, if they had stuck with the trypophobia.
Dude, the grassy one at 8:21 looks like an amazing concept. I'm thinking of a special temperate biome that's a sort of "sacred grove" that's patrolled by creatures like that. They're hostile to enemy mobs but neutral to the player, but if the player breaks too many flower/grass/leaf blocks, cuts down a tree, or harms an animal, it becomes hostile and attacks the player.
The stalker is an amazing concept! To be honest, all of these are really good, though the hole one might have been a bit too much, since a large portion of the community is children, and Minecraft is not meant to be a horror game. Probably this is why they decided not to use it. Also, when I watched the videos Mojang posted, and saw the dancing Warden, this thought just struck me: what a cool feature would it be, if the warden could be temporarily 'neutralized' by music! For example, players encountering the warden could place a jukebox and play one of the discs, and the warden would calm down, because it likes the sound of it. It might be a bit op, so it could have a chance, like 20% that it works and 80 that it doesn't, or the mob could have preferences, liking some discs more than others. Or, quite the opposite: since it likes silence, it would be distracted, trying to destroy the jukebox, so the player has time to escape while the block breaks. Although this 'distraction' option is kinda given in the form of projectiles (if the first warden trailer is true)
I think a cool way to help the two high block tunnel problem against the warden is to have it and the stalker be the same creature. The warden just defaults to its bipedal form naturally, but it can change shape to keep up with its prey
My idea of the stalker is that it could be a mob that hunts you down under a condition (like not sleeping, entering a specific territory or looting something). The player would have an effect that would allow the stalker to find them no matter what. It would be very agile and able to traverse any environment such as water, lava or small spaces.
3:05 reminds me of siren head lol. Honestly wish they would add variants, and just generally more mobs to the game. Would love to have a lot more danger underground.
Here’s what the deep dark could have been: The Beast (a pig like monster with no eyes and holes on its chest) Skulk: white molds with strange fleshy holes Sensor: hidden among the holes were even sore holes that are sensitive to touch Shrieker: small shrieking towers that alert the Beast of your location The Hollowed (the original warden, which is nightmarish) Skulk: piles of slime and bones Sensor: piles of small skulls, don’t turn your back for too long Shrieker: larger skulls that dim the area and alert the Hollowed of your location
I'd like to suggest something about HCS9. The first 30 mins can be streamed by the hemits in their platform of their choice(youtube or twitch). In this way we will be having some fun watching the first few moments of HC live and as every single hermit will be online at that time, it's gonna be fun. Also looking forward to any new hermits in season 9 (if any)
Off topic, but seeing you run around in the season 4 world really made me nostalgic lol! It was the first season i watched, really nice seeing it again
I honestly wouldn't have minded if any of the old designs for the Warden ended up being the final version. I think they all look great. I am sure people will be making resource packs and mods of those old designs.
the rust block idea of the corruption concept part could be probably started by having iron at some place for a really long time (kinda like copper blocks but it ages longer)
As someone with trypophobia, the concept art with holes indeed do the trick. They are terrifying and I physically flinched. On one hand, I love it. On the other hand, I’m so glad they aren’t making it into the game.
I actually loved the asymmetry of the stalker. The texture could use some work but I think it looks really cool and would have been one of the most interesting mobs ever added
Imagine updates coming out when they say they would, like where's that super duper realistic texture pack that was supposed to come out three summers ago 💀💀😭😭
I am fairly sure that we're getting a new boss for the Overworld. Mojang said they couldn't reveal why they named this guy the Warden, so I figure he was a big golem dude originally there as a guard for the mysterious frame in the Deep Dark cities, before the Sculk corrupted them all over time. No doubt there will be some difficult stealth game to enable the Mysterious Frame and probably summon something otherworldy through it. Getting major Cthulu vibes, so maybe some kind of big creature inspired by him, travelling between dimensions to spread it's Sculk. Hyped for sure.
There’s an xp glitch where if I were to put a hopper under a blast furnace and continuously smelt bars, the result would be me getting hundreds of levels per bar. You have to smelt a craaaaaap ton of ore to get that much tho. Patience is a virtue
Kinda digging some of those older warden and stalker designs, very creepy looking. It sort of reminds me of villains in certain popular horror games too, like bendy ink demon comes to mind.
I posted a new video on Xisuma Says today about Iskall & Hermitcraft 9 🙂

kinda off topic, but it's so nostalgic to see you in the old season 4 hermitcraft world, that was my very favorite season!
"Typophobia". That's hilarious. I wonder whether that's intentional. (It's actually called trypophobia.)
It would be very agile and able to traverse any environment such as water, lava or small spaces.
the last, overgrown one actually looks really dope
I agree
That intro, what a throwback to season 4! And at the location of the former Unstable Bridge :)
Woah, i think its really cool how they used what looks to be end portals on the hands of the warden in the prototype footage
I love how much they leaned into the horror theme!
3:05 reminds me of siren head lol. Honestly wish they would add variants, and just generally more mobs to the game. Would love to have a lot more danger underground.
2:20 that prototype Warden totally looks like the Shambler from the original Quake
Here’s what the deep dark could have been:
The Beast (a pig like monster with no eyes and holes on its chest)
Skulk: white molds with strange fleshy holes
Sensor: hidden among the holes were even sore holes that are sensitive to touch
Shrieker: small shrieking towers that alert the Beast of your location
The Hollowed (the original warden, which is nightmarish)
Skulk: piles of slime and bones
Sensor: piles of small skulls, don’t turn your back for too long
Shrieker: larger skulls that dim the area and alert the Hollowed of your location
I kinda want a "stalker"-like mob got readded in a possible end update or smt
I'd like to suggest something about HCS9.
The first 30 mins can be streamed by the hemits in their platform of their choice(youtube or twitch). In this way we will be having some fun watching the first few moments of HC live and as every single hermit will be online at that time, it's gonna be fun. Also looking forward to any new hermits in season 9 (if any)
Off topic, but seeing you run around in the season 4 world really made me nostalgic lol! It was the first season i watched, really nice seeing it again
This video made me realize two things:
1. How close I was to actually being unable to play minecraft
2. How bad my typophobia is.
“That’s not very impressive. That looks very derpy.”
No, that looks like a Hendersonian horror.
I honestly wouldn't have minded if any of the old designs for the Warden ended up being the final version. I think they all look great. I am sure people will be making resource packs and mods of those old designs.
I love the ones that looked like villagers, especially the one with asymmetrical eyes and a protruding nose
the rust block idea of the corruption concept part could be probably started by having iron at some place for a really long time (kinda like copper blocks but it ages longer)
I hope they add the old wardens as a texture pack in vanilla tweaks
As someone with trypophobia, the concept art with holes indeed do the trick. They are terrifying and I physically flinched. On one hand, I love it. On the other hand, I’m so glad they aren’t making it into the game.
I actually loved the asymmetry of the stalker. The texture could use some work but I think it looks really cool and would have been one of the most interesting mobs ever added
Imagine updates coming out when they say they would, like where's that super duper realistic texture pack that was supposed to come out three summers ago 💀💀😭😭
I think this confirms that the Warden isn't JUST sculk, it's been taken over by sculk.
5:53 Corruption is definitely my favorite
I am fairly sure that we're getting a new boss for the Overworld. Mojang said they couldn't reveal why they named this guy the Warden, so I figure he was a big golem dude originally there as a guard for the mysterious frame in the Deep Dark cities, before the Sculk corrupted them all over time. No doubt there will be some difficult stealth game to enable the Mysterious Frame and probably summon something otherworldy through it. Getting major Cthulu vibes, so maybe some kind of big creature inspired by him, travelling between dimensions to spread it's Sculk. Hyped for sure.
8:16
It's like an enderman
Crying obsidian:am I a joke for you
The prototype of the William's were terrific and terrifying
im really disappointed that the current warden isnt as creepy as all of its concepts
There’s an xp glitch where if I were to put a hopper under a blast furnace and continuously smelt bars, the result would be me getting hundreds of levels per bar. You have to smelt a craaaaaap ton of ore to get that much tho. Patience is a virtue
saw the old hermitcraft base, heard warden, was confused, noticed released date, not confused anymore
I really hope the glowing lure and ability to chase through a 1x1 come back in another mob
Love how this was recorded in the HC IV world. Fond memories. And one of your best bases ever, this house.
Kinda digging some of those older warden and stalker designs, very creepy looking. It sort of reminds me of villains in certain popular horror games too, like bendy ink demon comes to mind.
Xisuma: I think it would be really cool to have something in minecraft that has 2 phases
Wither: Am i a joke to you?
