Pressed the button on a rebel red for a commuter, I do think the lack of power could be an issue but for the mpg this bike pays for itself with a bit of fun thrown in, even a ham fister like me can work on them .

Great review, thank y! I have been thinking about the Hunter as a replacement for my 125cc scooter I commute on. I have the licence for all displacements, but I gravitate towards lighter, smaller and simpler bikes, because of my own feather weight, ease of use around town, in traffic and on the daily portion of countryside twisties, fuel consumption etc... So before the winter, I looked at the classic, the meteor, and then the hunter came about. Today I finally went to the dealership and tried it. I didn't expect it to fit me so perfectly, what a match. All the other RE bikes feel significantly heavier in comparison. Maybe except the Scram, but the higher, upright seating position on the 411 does not suit me. The Hunter feels a lot like a 125cc bike, but... beefier. Which is great, I was quite surprised by that because I've seen tons of pics and vids and didn' expect that. But it makes sense, the small package simply makes it look like a bulldog. It just doesn't have the thin appearance of a 125 or 250cc bikes, yet it's very easy to move about, despite being quite heavier than most of these bikes. Definitely THE bike for me.

I love this style something to consider, I think motorcycles internal combustion engines may become collectors as I am not sure about changing my batteries on an electric bike throughout the years. But the review is great to have a decent look at this bike something total Enfield do not do great.

As soon as you mentioned the spanner icon light coming on when it needs a service, I got wondering, if this bike needs to be plugged into a computer to reveal faults. I've just sold my car for that very reason, in that I couldn't do hardly any jobs on it myself. Even though I'm a competent diy mechanic of over 40 years experience. I've stripped engines and gearboxes and never had any problems until I bought a Ford Mondeo. Now I've only got my mountain bike. But I fancied one of these Hunters just to get into town, which is 6 miles away. I can cycle there but it takes me half an hour.

Cheerio .. is a missconbobulation of the words bye bye... I've had Himalayan for nearly 2 years and I have to say Royal Enfield have proved they can build inexpensive bikes but not at the cost of build quality, the himi is my only form of transport and has so far proved reliable, apart from the feeble rear rack, my daughter has a benelli bn 125 and is really taken with the look of the hunter, which proves Royal Enfield have hit the nail on the re appealing to young riders.

It's a small detail, but I like the front disc on the right. It looks better on the side stand. Never understood why single discs are normally on the left. Bit surprised it won't do more than 70. 20 hp should be enough for 80mph which would give a little safety margin. Don't suppose it's a deal breaker in this market though.

I believe the RE 350s are limited by RE.
They do have rev limiters, as do the 650s. If you expectations be spending more than token time on the highways (freeways/expressways), the 350s will do it. But, it is not highly recommended.
If you are Traveling on roadways with speed limits of 90 KPH or 55 MPH, they are marvelous machines. Otherwise, maybe the 411 Scram and for sure the 650s. All the REs are very good machines in the roles they were designed for.

Just because these bikes have a "retro" vibe, it does NOT mean it's a "scrambler"! Scramblers were the forerunners to MOTOCROSS/MotoX bike we have today! In the VERY EARLY days of scrambling, they used ROADSTERS with knobbly tyres and occasionally a raised exhaust to navigate what we now refer to as "green lanes" and trials type circuits!!
This bike (the HNTR), is a ROADSTER, as is the 650 Interceptor and all the other Triumphs and Bonneville wannabees! Just as they are NOT cafe-racers, as some hipster journo's think! (the GT Continental isn't a cafe racer either! It IS a cafe-racer STYLE bike, but carries far too much weight and excess creature comforts! At best, it COULD be referred to as a retro sports roadster?
Some of you youngsters might think this a smidge "pedantic", ....and you might be right, (I'm autistic, so what's YOUR excuse?)....but SO AM I! Carry on regardless if you want to look like a "Johnny-cum-lately" wannabee, but I'm assuming you want to actually KNOW what you're talking about?

Being a biker since the early 1990's gives you a certain perspective too! Most of my friends grew up around, and many owned, old 1960's and 1970's bikes, so I got a GOOD education! As for a "wannabee", ...not really, just drifted into it actually! (work in a bikers pub to earn some cash and just made friends!) 30hp from a 349cc SOCH long stroke air-cooled single cylinder.... that is not gonna happen.. But you could bump up power to 25hp,, but that requires a new camshaft, and a remap and maybe slightly less restriction on the air-flow

@@andersbarfodsvaneskolan9378 Honda did it with the CB250RS back in the 80s but I admit that was an over square 4-valve engine that definitely wouldn't pass modern emmission requirements. And Honda probably lied about the power output (as was fashionable then). I still think a 350 should be able to maintain 70mph all day, so a top speed of 80mph would be a reasonable ask.
