Hey everyone, I hope you are all well! Sorry for the few videos recently, I am having a bit of hard time right now (more in the video). In this episode we are buying a $31,300 Vacheron Overseas for my friend Ray. As the watch is nearly impossible to get from the boutique, he decided to go grey market. I think this was the right decision. No more games, just get the watch and relax!

Personally I have no problem with the grey market as long as they are reputable dealers and are not exploiting customers. If ADs cannot offer you the watch you want within a realistic timescale, then they are the dealers at fault here. It is obvious that this grey market dealer has made your friend very happy whereas the AD could not, or would not.
Really interesting to see the VC Overseas (what a STUNNING timepiece!); so often it is Rolex, AP and Patek that RUclips watch enthusiasts make videos about, but not very often do you come across videos featuring Vacheron Constantin watches.
Same here. Call New York AD there is a 10 month estimated wait list. To get on list they want a 35% deposit to hold your place and getting your money back is at the discretion of boutique.
More time needed to show off the overseas, not enough detail and more pictures. I have this model on order from a AD, can’t wait. The Overseas blows away all Rolex models, a much more refined and better movement, high horology.

I think 11% is pretty cheap. The money he'd have to spend on watches that he may not want to get a sizeable spend history would be a lot more. Also, let's be honest it's good to have patience and wait for an AD but when a year becomes two and so on then realistically will you ever get the call?
A friend with a spend history at an AD (albeit not very recent) has been waiting for 3 years for a Starbuck.

The grey market dealer should have taken one link from each end instead of rushing to get you out the door, the deployant clasp should be centered. Nice watch.
I love Vacheron. The minute repeater sky chart watch with the leo zodiac they did has to be one of my all time favorite watches and hope to own one in the next 15 years.

is a great watch, almost perfect, and very versatile. But I would not buy a VC in grey market, im not sure is a iconic watch or will be one, anyway excellent choice

amazing watch, I bought the VC 4500V silver dial 1 week ago. it's watches that become more and more expensive every week
as a young man in his 20s and getting a first and only one. Would you recom Rolex Sub or VC Overseas 4500v Stainless? To me its hard cause I know the sub is most copied watch with fakes etc and a lot of people owing one. the overseas and vc is not talked about that much. i like the sub for being very durable, at the moment I am looking at the vacheron constantin overseas and for some reason that watch is calling my name. I have a pretty active lifestyle so a durable and versatile watch would be ideal. I like VC cause its not recognized by many people and only a few will know that brand compared to like rolex, ap, patek. I feel like wearing a rolex draws unesscary attention to me since its to most well known / popular luxury brand out there.
Buy the vacheron. Rolex doesnt compare to the holy trinity watches. I just put my name down on it ans would much rather wqit and get something beautiful that has such high levels of hand finishing.

The whole market of a couple of brands is so nuts!
If I would have the knowledge about this situation 10 or better 20 years ago, I would have a nice collection that could easily pay my retirement plan!

Awesome pickup and congratulations to your friend. Even though he paid the premium to me it is an amazing pickup and definitely justified. That watch will only keep increasing in value given it has become a boutique exclusive and you need to have prior purchase history to even be put on the list to purchase. Obviously I never recommend buying watches as an investment you must buy what you love and want to wear. And this is certainly a stunner!! And well said my friend. Life outside of your career and youtube should always come first. Enjoying time with family and friends is of upmost importance. Cheers my friend hope all is well with you

In regards of the VC, not sure wether i would ever pay a premium for a watch, not for a Rolex, neither for a VC, AP or PP. There are also similar or even better watches out there for that sort of money.

I think it’s worth it and it’s not bad to buy from the Grey market because I won’t wait 3 years and at last I don’t get the watch I would pay 5000$ extra , I would not lose the money the Watchs always goes up in price
May I ask why does the watch box come with two cushions? Also, how come you buddy didn't pay with credit card as he can earn some cash back and can probably help fund his next purchase! ;)

Just curious will Vacheron honor and service the watch if they know it was purchased on the gray market? Also, how do you know for sure that it’s 100% real? Did you ask the dealer how he got the watch?

I wonder why the original owner sold the watch, or even bought it in the first place? He obviously never wore it, and I can't imagine that he made that much on it.
MSRP is ~25k, original owner probably sold it for close to 30k, so he made 4-5k and chalked up a nice purchase history for creds especially if he bought it off a multi-brand AD.

No protective tape, no board to stabilise the watch against scratching and no loctite to secure the screw

$31.300 is reasonable price. I paid $30k tax included for my, which is list price. But I waited months and I’ve spent nearly $100k.
in what currency? so this watch is not trading above retail?
The guy resizing the bracelet got lazy and didn't bother taking a link off each side of the bracelet 😅

How does one buy from an AP boutique when...
1. The AP boutiques have NOTHING in stock!
2. If you want the hot pieces 15450, 15500 or a 15202 you need to buy a Code 11.59 to be even considered. I'm willing to pay a premium of 20% to get what I want rather than buying watches I don't or kissing the AD's rear.
3. AP is restocking their boutiques this September but I'm almost positive that 99.9% of the watches are spoken for so most of us have no chance to get a piece we want unless we go gray market or wait YEARS for them to determine that someone is worthy.

Unfortunately VC will never become Patek and cannot appreciate i think no reason to buy it in grey market at all easily available in Europe
Not anymore, there is a waiting list now for this watch, obviously not like AP Royal Oak or Patek but it is getting harder to get the VC Overseas in blue dial.
