for me the black dial version of this is the ultimate Holy Trinity sport watch.. I found out from the Boutique in Beverly Hills that they in fact make about 3-4 times as many of the blue dial as the black... and that black with it's gloss deep dial is just so low key.

Is a brilliant timepiece and if it gets hype up... Well we can predict what will happen to the price... However I find it annoying when watchmakers flip the minutes on the bottom of the watch (from 45 min to 15 min is facing inwards - 20, 25, 30, 35 & 40 they face outwards) just ruin the fluidity of the dial... But with that said that piece is on my list 👌👌👌 Enjoying it sir...you have a masterpiece
How can you tell the watch is running under one second after a week ? What are you using to measure the time. I can see comparing the time to an atomic clock and visually seeing a change of a minute but a second ?
I used time.gov to initially set the time and comparing the constantly running seconds, mine was running exactly 5 seconds behind. After that it’s easy to check it daily, weekly, etc. Of course it’s easier if the seconds hand hack, but since this doesn’t, there a bit of simple math involved.
The pictures at their site do not do this watch and especially the dial justice. This video is very close, but still if you have the chance to see this watch on this dial in person just do it guys. It is jaw dropping, in my opinion its the best of the 3 to pick, dial looks etc. the straps and all. Enjoy it mate!

have you noticed an issue with the 4500 overseas when you change the time, i noticed if i pull out the crown to change the time sometimes it doesnt engage the hands and the crown just spins without changing the time at all

as a young man in his 20s and getting a first and only one. Would you recom Rolex Sub or VC Overseas 4500v Stainless? To me its hard cause I know the sub is most copied watch with fakes etc and a lot of people owing one. the overseas and vc is not talked about that much. i like the sub for being very durable, at the moment I am looking at the vacheron constantin overseas and for some reason that watch is calling my name. I have a pretty active lifestyle so a durable and versatile watch would be ideal. I like VC cause its not recognized by many people and only a few will know that brand compared to like rolex, ap, patek. I feel like wearing a rolex draws unesscary attention to me since its to most well known / popular luxury brand out there.
If it's only one watch, I would say the Sub. The Sub is the one of the durable and versatile watches out there. Maybe take a look at the Explorer 1 as well. If you're put off by the Rolex brand, maybe take a look at the Omega Seamaster or Speedmaster.
Yes... The 5100/1 movement was fitted to the Quai De L’ile while the Overseas used the 5100. Sometime in late 2019, VC quietly switched over to the 5100/1 for the Overseas as well, but replacing the tungsten rotor with the 22K gold rotor. I’ve read elsewhere that VC run out of 5100 movements so they switched over to the 5100/1 while others say that the 5100/1 has some slight improvements over the 5100 around the bridge architecture and the switch is permanent. I’m curious myself and trying to get more details. Mine is the 5100/1.
No it doesn’t but, similar to the manual wind Speedmaster, you can turn the crown counter-clockwise lightly to stop the second hand from moving temporarily.
Well as you probably know one of the few drawbacks of the VC Overseas is the lack of hacking. What I do instead is wait for the second hand to reach 12, gently turn the crown counter-clockwise to stop the second hand temporarily. Now sync it up with time.gov or an online atomic clock, release and done. It’s similar to the method used on the Speedmaster.
Congratulations. Just ordered this watch from the Miami boutique. The price is slowly increasing and availability is getting tighter. Glad I put a down payment on it. Since you now have had the watch for a while any problems with reflective glare? I hear there is no treatment to the crystal.
There isn’t an anti-reflective coating but I haven’t had any issues, even in bright sunlight. In fact, it’s when the details of the dial really comes through. Congratulations on yours. Hope it arrives soon and please let me know your thoughts when it does. 👍
It’s an engineering and design decision/philosophy. Hacking forces artificial strain on the escapement and balance wheel by dropping a lever to hold it in place. If FP Journe, Patek and Vacheron ALL don’t hack their second hands due to not ever wanting to interrupt the escapement I think it’s a sound design decision.
Cool watch. I used to own one until recently and really liked it. However, the lack of real tapering on the bracelet annoyed me. Also, the fact that the date change doesn’t happen instantaneously was a disappointment. Otherwise, fully agree with you about the dial and versatility

Beautiful Watch, unfortunately now the steel and rose gold versions are nowhere to be found (10 years of waiting) with (Quadrante Blu Boutique), personally I prefer it to PP - AP.
It took a while to figure out but I prefer steel over titanium for watches. I like the weight more. And I sold it for the Cartier Santos, which I think is the better watch.
I would never take a Rolex sub over this watch. Definitely wouldn't take a Royal Oak. Maybe an Aquanaut...maybe. This watch with a Cartier Santos, Breguet Marine Big Date and an IWC Big Pilot LP would be my top four. Ah why not...I'd let the Aquanaut tag along for my top 5. And a Datograph Up Down Lumen if I got a big bonus. But the Overseas blue dial would be my daily.
No hackig second hand feature? This watch is no go. A very clever from Vacheron. You will not have a chance to check the accuracy of the watch. One more thing. Take a look at the date font. This watch looks like a fake. I can not believe Vacheron could make this flop.
You can check the accuracy very easily actually by comparing it against the atomic clock and doing some simple math, timegrapher or timegrapher app. Understandably that might be difficult if basic math isn’t your thing. 😂 And it was purchased at the Vacheron boutique in Beverly Hills - definitely NOT a fake.

You stop the seconds hand at 12pm. You compare the seconds hand to the atomic clock and start the watch. After 24 hours you compare your seconds hand to the atomic clock. This is the way to do it. There is a big problem with your watch; you can not stop the seconds’ hand. Do you understand this Tommy? If you don't, I'm sorry for you. By the way Tommy. Because of the font on the date window, Vacheron will be ignored by many horology enthusiasts. Look at the date window in Royal Oak from AP and you will see how this should be implemented. There is one thing I like about the Vacheron; 150m water resistance. However those small design problems eliminate this great watch maker to be considered. This shouldn’t have happened at this level of horology.
Workarounds... 1 - Check the current seconds time against the atomic clock. Note down where it was. 24 hours later, check it again when the atomic clock seconds hit zero. Do some basic math. Simple. 2 - If the watch isn’t running, start winding it when the seconds hand of the atomic clock matches the second hand of the watch. Easy. 3 - Get a timegrapher app. 4 - Get a timegrapher if you’re OCD about accuracy and you can measure/test to your heart’s delight. Regarding the date window, it’s a subjective design opinion. I like it, think it’s fine. Ironically as you mentioned AP, the RO 15202 doesn’t even have a seconds hand. The Patek Nautilus 5711 didn’t hack until recently. The Omega Speedmaster, one of the most iconic watches ever made, doesn’t hack either. If you’re OCD about accuracy, and can’t do simple math or too lazy, then these watches aren’t for you. 🤷♂️
@@aguynamedtommy I like the Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch. This watch was created in 1957 and the movement did not change much. For that reason it is one of our favorites. Patek is untouchable at this time. No matter what Patek does with its sport’s models it will be sold. Why? because it is Patek Philippe. Vacheron is in a different position. They do not have an iconic design anymore. They created a new line of watches. With the new modern design, they better do it right if they want to be number three in the world. There is no question that Vacheron is the top hitter in the watch industry. Tommy, as long as you like your watch, you should be a happy camper to own a Vacheron. Congrats.

Thanks! IMO it fits best than my Sub. The Sub took a bit to get right and it’s about 99% there but the Overseas is perfectly balanced on my wrist.

I believe so. Since getting it several months ago, it’s my most worn watch. Accuracy on mine is very good, about +/-1 sec per day.

Leather strap is not lined with rubber but with nubuck suede instead. Great watch and wear it in good health!

No hackig second hand feature? This watch is no go. A very clever from Vacheron. You will not have a chance to check the accuracy of the watch. One more thing. Take a look at the date font. This watch looks like a fake. I can not believe Vacheron could make this flop.
You can check the accuracy very easily actually by comparing it against the atomic clock and doing some simple math, timegrapher or timegrapher app. Understandably that might be difficult if basic math isn’t your thing. 😂
And it was purchased at the Vacheron boutique in Beverly Hills - definitely NOT a fake.

You stop the seconds hand at 12pm. You compare the seconds hand to the atomic clock and start the watch. After 24 hours you compare your seconds hand to the atomic clock. This is the way to do it. There is a big problem with your watch; you can not stop the seconds’ hand. Do you understand this Tommy? If you don't, I'm sorry for you. By the way Tommy. Because of the font on the date window, Vacheron will be ignored by many horology enthusiasts. Look at the date window in Royal Oak from AP and you will see how this should be implemented. There is one thing I like about the Vacheron; 150m water resistance. However those small design problems eliminate this great watch maker to be considered. This shouldn’t have happened at this level of horology.
Workarounds...
1 - Check the current seconds time against the atomic clock. Note down where it was. 24 hours later, check it again when the atomic clock seconds hit zero. Do some basic math. Simple.
2 - If the watch isn’t running, start winding it when the seconds hand of the atomic clock matches the second hand of the watch. Easy.
3 - Get a timegrapher app.
4 - Get a timegrapher if you’re OCD about accuracy and you can measure/test to your heart’s delight.
Regarding the date window, it’s a subjective design opinion. I like it, think it’s fine.
Ironically as you mentioned AP, the RO 15202 doesn’t even have a seconds hand. The Patek Nautilus 5711 didn’t hack until recently. The Omega Speedmaster, one of the most iconic watches ever made, doesn’t hack either. If you’re OCD about accuracy, and can’t do simple math or too lazy, then these watches aren’t for you. 🤷♂️

I like the Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch. This watch was created in 1957 and the movement did not change much. For that reason it is one of our favorites. Patek is untouchable at this time. No matter what Patek does with its sport’s models it will be sold. Why? because it is Patek Philippe. Vacheron is in a different position. They do not have an iconic design anymore. They created a new line of watches. With the new modern design, they better do it right if they want to be number three in the world. There is no question that Vacheron is the top hitter in the watch industry. Tommy, as long as you like your watch, you should be a happy camper to own a Vacheron. Congrats.
