    Great info ! I am just getting started and have only done a few lights, but have learned a lot from your videos, so thank you for the education. I am looking forward to seeing a video on dealing with a K2000 previous job, and your process to get back to perfection. I have seen some lights where a guy said he had some guys do a job for $25, and they did not last and was horrible to get off ! I think the guy learned a valuable lesson of getting what he paid for... maybe !

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Год назад +2

      Exactly getting what you paid for is a huge thing in any situation...
      Hopefully that guy learned his lesson.. there's guys out there putting stuff on headlights meant to seal concrete, just destroying lights underneath it and you'll be okay for a week but then you'll start seeing the difference...lol
      Better to make sure you got the right guy doing the right stuff...

      @@theheadlightrestorationpro Thats for sure ! He said he could barely see at night time, it got so bad. Literally took me 45 minutes on one headlight to get that crap off. The entire job took nearly 2 hours to get the old crap off. But once done, he was blown away. Looked "almost" as good as yours bro!! LOL Curious on your opinion of what to charge when you get these kind of jobs.

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Год назад +1

      Always charge extra but as starting off you might want to just get the business first and foremost... But it's definitely a 2K clear light... It's the worst thing for us to be trying to remove I hate doing them but it's part of the job.. the doubles the time on a headlight restoration makes things a lot more trickier and riskier..

    If I can't get the foam trizact pads but can only find the p3000 pad only would you suggest using the interact pad for the added softness similar to the trizact but cheaper? (Trizact p3000 vs p3000 with interface)

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Год назад

      The trizact pad isn't so much about padding.. it's about the way the granulates are cut on the pad they're very high tech and they're like pretty much diamond cut instead of and circular or orbital type granulate.
      That's the secret of their magic..
      But either one will do just make sure you do it to the proper point if it takes more it takes longer just get it done...
      Thanks for the question..
      Stay tuned much more to come

    Brother do you always use two of each disc during the restoration process except the 3000 disc or do you go off of the grit leftover after a couple off passes?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  11 месяцев назад +1

      No... Typically I go off of one grit per light on small to medium normal lights...
      But there are so many different things that go on that you have to adjust to the light.. Meaning you have to use enough to get your desired effect..If you keep watching different ones you'll see a different amount a lot just because of the size, coatings, how bad the light is etc..
      I use them Only until they stop being effective and or efficient...
      This is how you get to the Pro depth especially with p 500 ...so you don't have to use that many p 800 because they are 2wice as expensive.

    Thank you again for answering so many questions for those of us that are brand new to this. I picked up the 3M restoration kit that comes with the P 500 P 800 and 3000 and as well as the Orange polishing pad and I noticed that the rubbing compound that comes with that kit from 3M is 39002. What is your opinion when you compare the 39002 with the 39017 lens compound ?
    If the 39002 kit compound is sub-standard, I will avoid.

    4:20 so the more foggy the light the more rougher sandpaper you use?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Год назад

      Not necessarily but kind of if that makes sense.. sometimes it's better to use just multiple discs because there's a lot of buildup or a lot of damage multiple p500s... But there's other times when you should be able to distinguish about a couple seconds in of using the p500 that you will need something greater... This is a more rare occasion so rare I haven't even had a chance to do it on film yet.. it's generally when there's a 2K light or something sprayed on the light that's not supposed to be there.. or even sometimes when there's just so much damage to the light making the light extra hard and or the material coming up the pad...
      They come with side effects as a video says you're going to have to do more work behind them.. so you only want to use them when you have to.. for preservation of time and supplies..
      Thanks for watching

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Год назад

      It takes time and experience.. but general rule of thumb is when you're sanding dry sanding you can kind of feel it and also see it.. it should feel nice and easy coming off with no side effects.. you should feel yourself going through the clear coat and then the headlight and if clear coat is gone you should feel the headlight coming off very nicely.. when the sandpaper starts sticking and grabbing and doing weird stuff and it's not a smooth feel you know something's going on.. but in general it takes a lot of time you have to first figure out what a normal light is I can bridge the gap but really nothing can show you that except for experience.
