- How to play funk guitar. So you're playing in a band and its the sax solo or keyboard solo. Here's a simple chord vamp that doesn't fill up too much space. Believe me , your other musician friends will love you for it. Keeping it really simple but staying out of the way giving other musicians room but still helping the groove is essential.

There's one technique you're using that you don't seem to discuss - The sharp twisting of the plectrum from up to down which gives a real 'snap' to the note. I've been experimenting with this technique myself. It's surprisingly powerful...
“Small as possible” towards “knitting in” is huge! Thanks man! Cheers, Daniel
I found you through Matt's channel, and I'm so glad to be here! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us 🙌
Thanks for checking out my channel. 👍🏼
We miss you and your lessons Rob. Are you ok? Where are you in England by the way?
Fantastic, Rob!!! This stuff is so way above my current level that it takes me months to get there. But hey it’s a wonderful challenge. And when i do get it, it is the most fantastic feeling ever. Thanks as always for sharing and inspiring people.
Matt recommended Rob's channel. Top class musicians and wonderful people from one of the favorite band. Thank you
Great stuff! Thank you!
So subtle picking, so cool, so groovy... so Harris !
Your funk lesson videos are awesome and super inspiring! Would love to see more in the future!
This dude is kinda a beast with the funk, knows all the appropriate inversions and everything else! I am surprised that I am just hearing about him. I hope that he can include some additional lessons in the future!!
Another great lesson. Thanks a lot for this
rob you are the best................thx.
nice video
Very useful, very understandable, good concept, not too much talking the way others do. You are a fantastic teacher, a fantastic guitarplayer anyway
Fabulous lesson with very cool and funky licks. I would love access to the backing tracks.
The E9 chord is the hardest working chord in show business.
Hah. Never thought of it like that.
That's an epic quote!
Rob you're the best, that's all.
Your playing is so tight, no wonder Jay Kay can't stop jumping up and down next to you. :D Thx for sharing all these things with us. You know how to funk! :)
Just saw the community comment on Jamiroquai official and wanted to wish you all the best! I hope you had a great birthday! Looking forward to seeing new videos on your channel :)

Great !! Thank you.
Do you use jazz 3 whatever the style? Thanks
No video for three months. Are you working on recording a new Jamiroquai record 😊?
I hope you are well. All the best from Munich
I think this is important - what pick do you use? Your attack is really interesting because it isn't scratchy or percussive at all. Not sure if that's pick, pedals (is there compressor) or player!
Rob I'm stuck soul education whats the octave you play above the guitar riff you do at 2003 Montreal I love yr funk playing you are very inspirational
What's your pick-up?
hi Rob sorry if I disturb you,
I would like to ask you for advice for me, and it is the following:
with my band I play love Foolosophy, the version you played on abbey roads, the one with the final cut.
I was wondering if you use delay in the central solo, and what kind of settings should I set since I have a boss dd20 as delay.
I hope I'm not out of place.
Greetings from Sicily.
Great stuff as usual, but this one thing is bugging me so I have to ask: what brand are your T-shirts? They are almost as awesome as your rhythm!
That made me laugh. I get them from All Saints. I have many many black t shirts :)
Hey Rob - Suhr or PRS Silver Sky? Whats your favourite?
They’re both amazing guitars. I use them for different sounds. The Suhr is a little more old school and the Silver Sky is a bit mire hi fi to me
Backing track please,?
In Matt's guest appearance, ruclips.net/video/m5Ojqaqdnb0/видео.html i wonder what the chord change is. You are vamping on a Am7 xx7555 but then i dont know what you do for one beat at 07:42. Would you be able to tell us? I love your channel and you are so humble. If you click on the link you will see what i am talking about. Thank you
James brown didn't go for anything!! His mistreated musicians did!!
