      Hi Andreas. The guitar was DI'd and i used the Archetype Cory Wong Plug in. Touch of compression was used after recording.

    In my honest opinion Sir, a very important part of this kind of style and work is choosing right your pick, in terms of sound but also in terms of stability on your right hand fingers. Am I right Rob? I'd like an opinion from you, if I may ask. Thanks, you're the best for this stuff 🤟🏻

    I'm mildly surprised that you used a standard guitar amp (combo) for this guitar style. Fenders are clean sounding of course, but many funk players (e.g. Nile Rodgers), I believe, go for a DI sound (no amp). I just wondered what your thoughts are about that? (I'm a valve amp guy...)

    • @RobHarrisGuitar
      @RobHarrisGuitar  3 года назад +1

      Hey Lee. I use both DI and amps. Just a choice at the time. Sometimes i use both at the same time. I hear Nile did that too. I did hear that he also once recorded with amps set up on different levels of a staircase. Probably just a myth . Hope you're well.

    • @LeeJHodgson
      @LeeJHodgson 3 года назад

      @@RobHarrisGuitar Rob, I'm fine thanks. I hope you are too. I bought myself a DI box last week (a Behringer Ultra DI400P, which, thanks to new technology, is superb sounding, not like the older generation Behringer products, which were generally cheap and cheerful). I initially tried using it on my electro-acoustic guitar but, with my Yamaha CPX900's top-quality preamp (with extensive active EQ and multi sensors) I could hear no benefit whatsoever; it already sounds good! Then I tried it with my valve-driven Vox ToneLab ST (which has very good cabinet emulations) and I was pleasantly surprised at how it added a desirable spank! Not hyped highs like my Active Lead, just that something extra.
      I'm a bit of a purist and as such I usually go for minimal signal path, so the idea of adding something in the signal chain is something I always think twice about. Also, the ToneLab ST generates a Line level output, so I usually plug it into a Line level input; and the thought of plugging it into a DI box, then into a mic channel seemed counter intuitive, but the results prove beneficial: there's a little more spank, which I attribute to an improved dynamic range, plus a bit more clean sparkle, which is good for funk/pop styles.
