An amazing watch from a very special small watchmaker that is not afraid to add their own touch of flavour from the mainstream. They only craft around 500-700 watches per year. I love how Tutima goes against the grain and offers their own touch of magic. Stunning design and build quality.
I served my apprenticeship under Germans and Austrians from the old country. Not only do they teach you the right way to do things or else you also take care of the machinery, you clean it when you’re done, you organize you put things back where they belong it’s the whole philosophy of quality no shortcuts.
You can judge a craftsman by the way he maintains his tools and the cleanliness of his work area.
The camera work is sooo good Peter that we can feel how tactile this watch is just by looking at it. Your general chat style of watch reviewing is second to none and your content inspired me to start my channel. Some of the best watches I have come across have been from your channel. Thank you :)
Wonderful John,. I just subbed, looking forward to some back catalogue and new stuff, well done mate 👍👍
@Peter Kotsa it would be good if you did a video on your collection and why you love ithat particular watch. It would be a really interesting video
I have a Tutima Pacific Automatic 40mm I got 15 or 18 years ago - never missed a beat - keeps great time- never been serviced- also my most comfortable and legible watch- I have a explorer 2 and a sea master but I always go back to my Tutima - I look at Sinn often and Tudor but I really think I may treat myself to another Tutima at some point - They really are a quality watch
Another good review. I sold my BB58 after realizing other than the name, the micros I had for far less $ were better watches all around. I decided value vs name/history matters more to me the older I get.
I've been looking at purchasing a dive watch recently. This is now a contender.
Beautiful watch Pete! And that bracelet, I couldn't keep my eyes off of it. One of the nicest watches I've seen on your channel mate!
So happy to see the German watch brands finally. And Tutima to boot 👍
Great video! Love Tutima, as well as several other German brands. They just have this "old Porsche feel" to them: no nonsense and high quality engineering and execution, in even the smallest detail. My go-to brand is Guinand, as I love their chronos, and owns several. Not normally into divers, but this Tutima..... 🔥🔥🔥🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
very cool. it's like a modern version of the old Tutima Pacific 670
I've seen some Tutima watches up close. They are beautifully made and exude German quality. Another great video Pete. 👍
Oh yeah, I got a Contax camera from 1986, good shit. Still rocks.
This is really cool, pre-Bond Seamaster vibes. Seems like a great competitor to Oris.
My Dad had the exact same binoculars... must look in storage for them. Interesting watch too 🤩 I am not a fan of integrated bracelets, but this one has a nice overall look to it. Thanks for sharing!
Just beautiful. I'm so glad I grabbed the 44m in yellow, thanks to you. When they told me the work that goes into rebuilding the movement, it's impressive. Agree on the lume, a disappointment, especially for a water oriented watch. Certainly some better options for less money, but we like what we like.
I had a Tutima UTC GMT. IT’s the best watch I have ever owned. Wish I had it back😢
Great review - really outstanding camera work and editing, great nation, and good insights. I, like you, am confounded by ze Germans' fixation with adding a diver's extension into the clasp of an otherwise exceptional H-link bracelet when they could've def. designed a great on-the-fly adjustment mechanism. Typed while wearing my Sinn 104 I St Sa A (beautiful sunburst grey 9n H-link), a watch I love but for the confounded clasp. The clasp feels out of place, like mismatched afterthought on what is otherwise a very well engineered and executed design. The rugged, solidly built brac is held firmly together via tiny double sided hex screws, the endlinks fir well enough to the watch they look integrated. The clasp, however, has a pressed, brushed metal shell, a polished security lock, no button releases, and that corny divers extension - all of this despite being an *overly engineered PILOT's watch.* It is genuinely baffling. Having said that, I think my collecting niche might be trending toward German watches. I really like this one, I really like the Sinn 556i, the U50 (? - IDK, the smaller deep diver) the 105... 💸 The "nice" thing about them costing more is it slows down the acquisition process considerably and stretches out the anticipation; delayed gratification
Never heard of the brand, what a revelation, thanks!!!
I've got the predecessor of the M2, the DI 300, and its a phenomenal piece that will likely not leave my collection.
The bracelet is nice but too "soft" and organic. Polished bevels on the center links would have added a sharp contrasting element and given it that truly premium look. The clasp also should've had slightly angled top "corners" for a slimmer and more visually pleasing end.
Apart from that it's a really great looking piece.
I have never heard of them... but I love learning about new companies with you. Great review as always :)
That's a good looking watch, I have a Victorinox INOX, It's a beautiful watch and a lot of people do not even know the brand.
This looks exquisite! Incredible build, and detail on the dial is phenomenal.
Certainly feels premium and looks the part as well
Amazing review. Seems like a great offer. I love the integrated braclet
Hi Peter., what a perfect watch! Its nice to see these gems beyond the mainstream. Greetings from MX
Many thanks! 👍
You deserve way more subs than you have. One of my Top 10 channels on RUclips.
Beautiful and elegant diver!! 👍🏻
The movement is based on the ETA 2836/Sellita SW220 movement. The Sellita SW330 series is now offering C50 hours power reserve. Tutima fit their own rotor, but until I speak to a Tutima service agent I don't know any more. This watch is OK, but in that price bracket I'd rather have a Muhle or Sinn. I wouldn't swap my Sinn U50 for this... I'm glad you like it though. Frankly that's all that matters. Have a good weekend Peter 👋 😊
Agree. If sinn would change the hands on U50 I would be all over it. Amazing brand and watch.
Cheers Robert, you too mate 👍
I prefer this over a Sinn, that looks too austere for me.
@@denisdaly1708 I know what you mean Denis, but the Tegemented case on my Sinn gives it added toughness. In the UK Sinn offers a really good service agent, and their after sales support is excellent. Tutima offers some amazing dials though, so I really understand your point. Have a good weekend 👋
@@denisdaly1708 how dare you have that opinion? 😳🤪
Beautiful watch and some beautiful shots Peter. I got the M2 Seven Seas Titanium but think I need this too! Fighting myself cause they look similar :)
Great review, thank you. Tutima is one of those brands that is really not accessible, both in terms of price and simple availability, for a lot of us. But it is one of those brands that a lot of people are curious about. Thanks for the nice macro shots and the thoughtful review.
Cheers
Anything from Glashutte is second to none quality and finish of their movements. Just one problem the value falls off a cliff in the secondary market sad to say. They deserve much more.
looks great. feels like a fusion of Doxa and Sinn
I'm looking for my first properly nice watch. This is definitely near the top of the list.
I am happy Tutima listened to their potential customers and made the original smaller. Will be my next next purchase most likely. Nice video Peter! PS. now sell that Tudor ;-)
I love my Tudor bro...it will probably have to be peeled off my cold wrist when Im in the grave 😂😂
Nice to see a review about a quality watch and not just a cheap watch from china for a change.
How wonderful 😍 I have recently come into contact with the fantastic world of German watchmaking, in my opinion in Italy it would have enormous growth margins, such as Nomos for example... This brand makes splendid watches, and this diver is a mix of elegance and sportiness : simply fantastic 😍!
My East German Zeiss binoculars are well constructed, looks exactly like the 1964 binoculars you showed in the beginning of the video. The model was used by the Grenzpolizei ...
This bracelet is based in the old seamaster line. It’s a shame Omega doesn’t use them anymore.
The watch looks great
I actually don't love the bracelet design, but can appreciate how special it is by the way Peter is describing its quality and comfort.
Great review as always and lovely watch, I really like the Sky 6105-20, it just looks gorgeous
Great macro views of the beautiful watch. I would try to get a Christopher Ward c60 mk3 and the newer c60 as well. My CW c60 mk3 black is similar to this Tutima and WAAYYY less money. Monta Oceanking is another to look at (maybe compare all 3). This watch is too expensive to justify getting, in light of these 3.
Very retro-ish feel to this timepiece with the square shoulders and bracelet, yet modern with ceramic bezel and hands and indeces. Bezel grips are pretty horrible but. I always test bezels under these conditions :soapy water. When you at sea and are about to go diving, the salty water tends to be a bit slimy and you should be able to grip it easily.
I work with medical equipment for a living and can confirm that when it comes to optics in microscopes or lasers Karl Zeiss is still the best of the best.
Well done video! Looks a lot like an Aquis to me. I love them, so is a great looking watch imo
A handsome watch and a great looking bracelet. I think one in 1000 people may be inclined to use the divers extension, I'd vote for a quick adjust on the clasp as well. Have a great Christmas, I've enjoyed your vids always thoughtful and informative. Peace.
Nice piece, I love German Designs. With Sinn being my favourite brand. Peter I wouldn't be changing the date between 9 and 3 like that if I was you Lol
You know very well I am a professional, I made sure the time was at just after 12 midday when I changed it 👍👍
😂
@@PeterKotsa 😂👍🏾
You’re getting me in trouble this holiday season, Peter.
Cheers.
discipline 😂
I have a Laco, excellent watch and yes, German.
Very impressive watch. I'm looking at some of their other offerings like the Sky Automatic as a potential next dress watch. They really look like top quality items.
Great looking watch, and I'm a big believer in Germany engineering/workmanship ... but at $3K+ for a watch I'm going to look more at an Omega, Tudor, or even Tag Heuer. Not that I buy watches as an investment, but I think it would be difficult to get your money out of a Tutima.
Well, I would buy it and leave it for my son/ grandson.
It's not for aftermarket.
You'd be getting your money out of it by wearing for the rest of your life and leaving to an heir upon death. Just MHO 🤷🏼
Peter, you are correct. The level of quality of nearly all products has dropped over the years.
I'll buy it - thanks to you!
Excellent review, thank you. I like everything except the bracelet. It looks too overwhelming to me, almost disproportionate to what I am used to. Beautiful Case, Dial and bezel...wow. Cheers!
Fantastic looking watch, great specs. I really dig the H link but a more current clasp would be nice.
Off-topic, I know, Nice bins and I understand what your saying about build quality.
I have just bought a mint pair of 1952 Hartman-optik 117 porlerim 8x30 german binoculars and they are as good now as the day they were made. sorry, back to the Ticker.
Gotta love that German engineering and quality!
I must say that I'm kind of fed up with Dive Watches ... but this one looks fantastic! That bracelet, with it's "cushion-like" construction on top looks so comfortable and good quality.
I would only compare this to a CW C60 Trident Pro 600 (they also make fantastic watches IMHO).
I have only seen a couple of Tutima watches and this one's top notch! Thanks for sharing this great find.
A 5 Bar watch isn't a dive watch in any way bruh. This watch just follows the dive watch style but not a dive watch.
Tutima does not get the love it deserves, which is a good thing for watch enthusiasts. At our local AD here in Vancouver Canada, you can often pick up a Tutima at a discount. Thanks for the review, Pete.
Thanks for sharing Eddie, cheers
Great work Pete. Camera work amazing as always!
🙏
Nice watchee! I have to chime in that the latest optics from Swarovski, Fujinon and Zeiss are better than any 60 year old optics. This is because lenses are made to tighter tolerances with ED glass and better coatings too. I get your point though and I agree that it was a fantastic introduction to your video.
Cheers, I also have the latest Swarovski, Leica, Zeiss as well as Nikon binoculars..Optically speaking they destroy this 1964 glass, hands down
However the build quality of this oldie is still quite incredible buy todays standards...
Thanks for sharing 👍
@@PeterKotsa I’m really into Takahashi telescopes and I have two of them. They’re considered to be the best in the business. I will never part with them.
Looks amazing!
Too many faults to justify its 3k price. Poor lume, poor power reserve, integrated bracelet and no on the fly adjustment. It reminds me of the monta ocean King, but the monta is nicer imo. A nice watch , but needs the improvements to justify its price, for me. I've never had a on the fly bracelet, but the next watch I buy, will have this feature, for sure. I think its a must have feature now, and hopefully will become an industry norm in the future. Great camera work as always bud, and have a great Xmas.
3k?!?!?! Why you write fake news?
Really like your honest reviews. I had a Sinn 556A, but ultimately went with a Longines because of the superior lume. Lume is important to me.
I like and I love the links shapes
Thanks for introducing me to a new watch.
Off topic still use my m42 lenes with my dslr. My favorites are from Pentacon. If it wasn’t for my first 35mm from Practica I wouldn’t ever found out about the awesome 29mm!
You clearly have a penchant for German stuff mate! Binoculars and three pieces in your 8-piece watch collection are three identical Sinns! 😄🇩🇪
I bought a vtg mini Ziess binocular. I paid 75 cent at thrift store. And couldn't get the 3 quarters out of pocket quick enough. I sold them quickly for $75.00 .
Hey Pete, great video! Only problem is now all I hear is Ian McCulloch singing “seven seas swimming them so well glad to see my face among them kidding the tortoise shell…”. Love the video-hate the ear worm. 😂😂😂
…kissing the tortoise shell😮
hahaha 😂
I suggested this to them when they released the 44mm sevenseas, a smaller variant. Wish they used the hands of 44mm on this. But still a killer
Superb looking watch.
This is definitely a beautiful and amazing 🤩 watch 👍🏻
I had pretty much decided on an oris aquis 39,5 for my next watch. this one just made things a lot more difficult.
gladto see tutima finally getting reviewed and some love!!
The case design and bezel insert looks somewhat like an Oris Aquis
Loved this video. Thanks Peter. The problem with your channel is that features like this make me poorer!
I’ve owned a second generation overseas and a Glashütte Seventies Panorama Datum and they were exactly as you’ve described this wearing experience. Exceptional quality and engineering that seems to ooze from several of these German brands. But far more expensive than this.
I probably wouldn’t go for this myself because good lume on a diver is important to me and like you I like a ratcheted microadjustment mechanism. Also the ship engraving on the back doesn’t look the best. Otherwise I would have seriously considered this.
Thanks again mate love your work and your channel
Stunning Peter
Tutima - the ultimate brand name for GMT - pronounced "Two Timer".
Thats very good 😂😂👍
I am in the watches world , German brands are the best value for money , i have seen some keeping the time with no services after 20+ years.
No mention of the price of this item, nor is a price posted on their website. Quality needs to be evaluated against cost when considering a purchase.
The price is on their website, I showed a screen shot of TIMEONLY's website in the video, it has the price on it
cheers
Lovely watch!! It is true German and Japanese quality of today does not match the quality of the past. To be fair though nothing really does nowadays.
Great review as always Peter!!! Thanks for bringing us the pleasure of beautiful watches!
Thanks for watching and sharing 👍
Καλά Χριστούγεννα με υγεία για εσένα και την οικογένειά σου !
Wonderful Video! Trouble is I can't unsee that lume shot, and worried about the weight.I would love a 'skin diver' design philoscopy to be applied to this watch. Who is going to take such a beautifully finished watch to 500m???
The handset seems lacking, and that negative space left and right of the centre seems a bit much. It's not bad though. Maybe it would grow on me.
if only these brands could have better marketing because they deserve more attention for the workmanship alone.
I disagree with peoples views on lume potency. The strength doesn't make or break a dive watch imo knowing it'll never go diving.i don't need a torch at night or at the movies . As long as it's in good time legible and tough I'm good. Oh and a decent height doesn't hurt.
👍
Thats a great quality video. Love the watch 👍
As a photographer I take my hat off nice video work camera work
🙏
Closeups of the hand finishing is the biggest show of a lesser quality watch. Its fine and there are a lot of great watches where the hands have swirls or dents or scratches. But when you zoom all the way in to a macro shot, and they are flawless, you know its good.
I have not yet seen a Tutima that really attracts me with its design. A pity, if the quality is that good. We're it not for the 500m WR even the line would likely suffice and the on the fly adjustment would make more sense.
Why no mention of price in the video, given the video thumbnail?
It's in the screenshot of Timeonly's website, near the start of the video..cheers
This tuttima looks amazing but it reminds me of the monta ocean king which for me at the price is sensational.
Please review the monta Pete 💪
Yeah haven't had a chance to look at Monta yet, cheers Luke
Hello, is the bracelet integrated?
I do love German engineered brands, fantastic look to this one, I would find it hard to pick one of these over a Sinn however! The Orange dial variant is a looker though
Yeah love the simplicity and look ion the Sinn as well..
Comfort= width- got an uncomfortable watch? Put it on a Bund strap. Instant comfortable watch.
There are no alternatives to Omega or Rolex. When you buy cheap, you buy double, or triple. I own a Tutima 677 myself. It‘s good, and that‘s it.
Tutima. So good.
*Never mentioned anywhere I’ve been, are “short” hands, such as here. Specifically a minute hand tip which doesn’t reach the outer edge of the hour markers/indices.* *_To my “bamaged drain” a dial like this resembles too short trousers that never touch the shoes._*
“They don’t make things like this any more”- except they absolutely do. You just have to be willing to pay for it.
That's the problem $$$
A good looking watch with a bold bracelet. At least for me.
thanks for highlighting tutima and german watchmakers, there are many jewels in glashutte, this boring village lost in saxonia. i went there 2 years ago, visiting the impressive museum, my car parked between Lange, GO, Nomos, just behind union, muhle, wempe, grossman and many others,...in this small town...there is this 'typical' german ' willingness to make great, clean and working things,
that said, i dislike most of tutima's products , some being reallly ugly in my humble opinion, sinn, damasko, tourby, dornbluth,,,,, so many talents,,, but, id never give my omega smp for any tutima. but soooooo many others, i wouldnt hesitate. i currrently exploring damasko and UG,,,, and Tourby, and all those fliegers...
thanks for your channel
I thought it was an Oris Aquis from the thumbnail 😳 even the crown guards are like the Aquis
