There are two things that keep my interest in watches fresh after all these years: super high end independents which I will never be able to afford, and smaller tool-watch manufacturers like Damasko, Tutima, etc who just give you the best they can for the price

I picked up a yellow dial on rubber last year. I absolutely love it! The strap is one of the most comfortable I've ever worn. I absolutely love the quality feel of it; it really does feel like an awesome tool watch. As someone with an 8 inch wrist, I wouldn't mind it being a bit larger in all dimensions, but this is a decent size for most people. I like the M2 so much, I'll probably pick up the orange one very soon...

Airline pilot here. We work all the days of the week, seemingly at random; and so never know what day it is. “Is it Tuesday. No, it’s Saturday? Oh, right, it’s Wednesday”.
Besides telling accurate time, having screw-down crown with at least 100 m water-resistance, being comfortable, and indicating a second time zone; I would say that having both day and date on my watch is next most important.

Nice review of a nice watch! Having spent weeks at a time on a vessel at sea (not diving, though) it's really nice to have an immediate reminder of regular passage of time when every day blends into one. Especially in the Arctic circle in summer! Cheers!

I was thinking yeah I like this a lot, and I really like the strap with the orange piping, but then at 8:23 that closeup really got me. The way the execution of the hands go so well with the indices and the black base of the hour minute hands matching the seconds hand; really handsome! I do like being able to have the day in Yiddish. That's a plus for me too

A point about German-language day complications. The three-letter German day abbreviations only exist on watches. In "real life" German day abbreviations are only two letters each.

  • @SinnerAndSaint

Great review of a true divers gem out there! I owned the same watch with the blue dial and it's indeed great bang per buck. I agree that the watch sits very comfortable on smaller wrists but I would also prefer it to be 42mm. At 6 inch or less it looks just too big. But as it's a very sporty watch you can get away with it imho. As I sold mine I'm really looking forward to get my hands on this organge dial version... thanks for showing, Evan!

Pretty torn between this one and the one with the yellow dial. While orange is one of my favorite colors, there's something that seems pretty unique about the yellow dialed variant...
Update: now I'm a little interested in the stainless steel variant for its lack of the day indicator and green/yellow gradient dial. I just don't like the shininess of the stainless steel casing...
Regardless, I can't find these things anywhere since I'm in the US. Oh well =/

I would offer the mido ocean star 600 chrono for $1700 as an alternative also. Nice video, fun watch, fun in the way a ruler is good at drawing straight lines, but it’s orange. An orange ruler. (I think the ocean star 200 is the better option though)

Instead of the sub300, you could've suggested the 300t, which is also steel, but is WR to 1300m and is much less than the regular 300, as it's not chronometer certified.
