I love building this kit. It was so damn fun! Personally I've built 20-something MGs myself and I don't think the build is that complicated as long as you pay close attention to the manual. Overall it's worth every cent of the 40 bucks I spent on it. I hope they'll release the assault buster pack soon (probably p-bandai) and in the mean time I'll try the core booster's accessories on it.
Dont care about articulation because having built MG unicorn and Zeta 2.0 i just admire the sheer beauty of the kit so this is really fine. Im glad that we finally have a MG V2 after so long.
Right.. haha Mines getting pretty close like 30 hgs and 10 mgs and a slew of builders parts and other random stuff. My wife hates it, but she has her shoes I have my gunpla. Haha
i was reluctant to get this kit because of all the negative things I have heard about it. ended up getting it as a gift and built it, I have to say I don't understand all the complaints. The kit went together smoothly and posed just fine without any of the parts popping off or weapon holding issues I've heard. interestingly I moved to a new place recently and out of my 14 master grades, this and my sazabi ver ka were the only kits that didnt grenade in transport. it even held its pose quite well. My thoughts are its a fantastic kit over all but for the love of god get it an action base.
The Retarded bookbinder maybe I got lucky, I usually just pose my kits and let them sit on the shelf looking awesome, but this thing is nowhere near as finicky as my mg Epyon
I recently built both Ver Ka Victory kits. They were a faff but not as much of one as the other Ver Ka i built recently. That kit being the Sazabi. The big git took me all day to build.
For me, the armor on the side of the ankles are rock solid but instead the white section of the foot that connects into the balljoint loves to come loose. Also I just wonder, how are the decals affected by the transformation? Are there any significant wear and tear on them cause of it?
I wouldn't say the waist section "exceedingly complicated". It's a matter of paying close attention to the manual and the pieces. It's a job well done for a transforming kit. My biggest complaint: The nose, start from the cockpit canopy, is very loose. It does not stay in place unless you stiffen up the connection... It was a fun build though. The complications make the build process a lot more interesting. It's not a straight forward build: torso, head, arms, legs, etc. You build enough master grades and you begins to "guess" how things go together. This one, manual is your only hope.
So I don't know if I've just completely missed them or not, but I haven't seen comparisons between the MG and original 1/100 (HG?) . No mention of compatibility of the Assault/Buster packs either. My MG V2 should be here in a few days so if I haven't found any by then I'll snap some pics. Also BOOOO on P-Bandai effect parts.
I would just go with the OVA Versions of both. If you want the Sinanju TF for it's color scheme, I would just suggest spray painting it. For Unicorn, if your just going to have it in one pose (unicorn mode), just get what you want.
Dear Jabman, you're a friend to painting, and I've heard that painting tightens up loose joints. When you point out loose connections, are you staying true to the pros and cons of a straight build, or do you dislike tightening up joints with paint?
A little bit of both, if you're a straight builder it's a problem you will just have to live with, if you are a painter its just one more thing you have to do.
I'm a fan of Victory and v2 but it is sad the kits are hard to finish. Im no mg expert i currently have epyon, Nu ver ka, and Freedom 1.0 Jabman what are you thoughts on Freedom 2.0?
this gundam cannot even hold up a beam saber. i don't know why, but on mine, and i'm sure i'm not the only one, the elbows are EXTREMELY weak. it isn't built on a double joint sandwiched between two pieces like it normally is. it's made with a kind of hook, and it does not stay on. every time i bend the elbow, it falls off. i've had this thing pretty much since it was released, and i have it standing there. i dont bother posing it. it cannot hold anything.
+Fozzy Well there's that High Resolution Barbatos that is basically a mix between Metal Build and Master Grade, but has a Metal Build/Perfect Grade level price. It looks pretty cool, but that price is a bit much for me and I'd rather wait for a Master Grade.
hey Jabman! I was wondering if you had the master grade Gyan? and if you could do a review? I've been looking into it and there are no reviews for the guy??
You said that this was the most complicated MG you've built to date. In regards to that, how does it compare to the MG Banshee in terms of assembly? Reason I ask is because to me so far the MG Banshee was ridiculously complicated.
+striker0 I've built this kit and the MG Unicorn which is similar to the Banshee, and I'd say this is more complicated when it comes to assembly. When it comes to transformation though? I'd say they're even, with the V2 having a slight lead
the elbows and arms always give me a hard time. the elbow always comes off for me, because it's not the secure double jointed elbow we are used to seeing.
Hey man, I know timing may be off since you posted this over a year ago, but I just finished building my V2, was really pissed and discouraged about the arm problem.. I couldn't help but mess with it some more and figured out how to fix it!i I was wondering if you ever messed with it any further and fixed it yourself? If not lemme know!
wyatt roberts I just attempted my first RUclips for ya! Go look up "Master Grade Victory Two Gundam Ver. Ka Arm Issue Solved" and I attempted to explain. 2:50 should be the direct explanation. Lemme Know if it helps
Thanks for the vid, I'm glad I just got the HGUC Assault Buster lol. Too many Katoki stickers, no good posability and being complex as sin to build is kind of a turn off for me. Core fighters look nice though, and the snyper unit. ...Jeez, i wonder how complicated a real grade of this would be.
I've built this recently and I absolutely love the V2; one of my top 5 Gundam designs. However, when jabman says it doesn't pose...it does not. pose. At all Ball and socket joints for the legs and feet are super disappointing as someone who has built the HG V2 which has infinitely more poseability than this (which is to be expected, but is an extreme difference in this case). Again it's to be expected, but there is also no waist articulation whatsoever due to the corefighter gimmick, which is a huge aspect of posing kits that is just totally out of the equation. Sigh, sorry for the rant, but man was I disappointed after I built this thing. It's my first transforming MG, so I don't know how much better this is than the Victory, Zeta, Delta Plus, etc., but it was definitely an eye opener, for sure. I've yet to try to separate it into each fighter component, so I'll take jabman's word for it that the transformation is the best aspect of the kit. But I'll definitely agree with his opinion that this is one hell of a transforming brick (good or bad depending on the builder)
+MrNotgoth I dunno Ive built the MG Zeta 2.0 and that has minimal posing. The best it can pull off is the aile strike pose and even then it's not the best. Transforming Kits are meant to just look good on display and nothing else.
haven't finished this yet because the decal are taking forever like you said! but they do look great. I feel like this build isn't too bad so far for me. The one MG kit i feel i had a lot more of a hard time building was my MG Unicorn Phenex! that kit convinced me to never buy a MG or PG of the unicorn kits! as cool as it looks, that inner frame is a bitch to build in my opinion.
I don’t really think it was all that complicated, I always buy cute looking gundams and I look them up online after buying them, I bought it because it looked pretty and I made her pink baby blue and yellow and added some cool stuff and it only took me a weekend, no disrespect but just saying if anyone is avoiding this kit because they think it’s gonna be hard
just finished building mine. 3 hrs to build the model and 9 hrs to put on the 350+ water slide decals....lost a few on the way. Decal setter is a must. I'm not looking forward to building the MG full armor gundam ver ka. It looks like it has even more water slide decals >.
Would prefer a version of this without the transformation, for a more stable figure. It's such a small aspect of a gundam. I prefer my kits to also be play ready when done, which this isn't.
My V2 holds the beam rifle. I have the rifle lean toward the fingers and let the thumb hold it in place. I like this kit but it’s articulation is horrible and not a lot of posing actions.
+Kefkaownsall Well, Bandai has as Premium Bandai add on set that comes with the pink and blue effect parts. =) I would probably try to get one now, before it is sold out and then posted up on eBay at like 10x the price..lol
Yeah I think I'll pass on this kit. Not just because I've only built one mg, and if I tried attempting this, I'd rage so hard, but mostly because I personally don't like the victory and v2 gundam. always felt too toy like and not enough mecha to me.
I know of noone who uses or displays their gundam in the transformed version..i see no reason why they even have the option. Most of us paint these and display them and after painting transforming them is impossible.. what a waste of time and engineering just to match the anime..everyone knows the gundam form looks rhe best and is how it is supposed to be displayed....if i wasntes to display a plane id build a macross..
When a man who's made 124 master grade gundams says something is EXCEEDINGLY COMPLICATED, I take it seriously O_O
+Isteak80 Hell yeah we should. I experienced it first hand with the RX-78-2 3.0's elbows. Such a pain :))
+xxnike629xx so jabman wanna build pg oo raiser, wow
+Isteak80 Right on.
xxnike629xx throw in the R3 as well and you've spent right around 1000$+ on PG exias.
xxnike629xx and don't forget the astrea
"So much better than the Victory"
I loved the Victory man, and now you sold me for this one.
+Chiron well I thought the victory was kind of a train wreck......so keep that in mind
It really was to be honest. I super glued the main body.
+jabman025 at least the HGUC was a good kit. but that didn't transform.
+jabman025 what was your 100th mastergrade?
I did not have that many problems with it. Though I will say it was over-designed.
I love building this kit. It was so damn fun! Personally I've built 20-something MGs myself and I don't think the build is that complicated as long as you pay close attention to the manual. I'll hold out for the rg... wheres my microscope...
Dont care about articulation because having built MG unicorn and Zeta 2.0 i just admire the sheer beauty of the kit so this is really fine. Im glad that we finally have a MG V2 after so long.
you have no idea how much i'm looking forward to your review of this.
nice just picked this up yesterday and added it to my backlog, great Vid as always my brother, looks like a fun build
+Ross Gagne "...and added it to my backlog..." Backlog..lol. Yea. I have quite a backlog of kits that it's looking more and more like a box fortress.
Right.. haha Mines getting pretty close like 30 hgs and 10 mgs and a slew of builders parts and other random stuff. My wife hates it, but she has her shoes I have my gunpla. Haha
+xxnike629xx you got the right. family first
i was reluctant to get this kit because of all the negative things I have heard about it. ended up getting it as a gift and built it, I have to say I don't understand all the complaints. You must have some kind of perfect v2
The Retarded bookbinder maybe I got lucky, I usually just pose my kits and let them sit on the shelf looking awesome, but this thing is nowhere near as finicky as my mg Epyon
I recently built both Ver Ka Victory kits.

Hey jabman, was wondering if the cockpit when in Gundam mode can be displayed like the victory mg ver ka?
in gundam mode no
I wonder if the Assault and Buster parts of the old 1/100 kit are compatible with this one.
thank you, jabman, you do the best damn reviews on RUclips
hi.. does the eyes have LED features?
no
So I don't know if I've just completely missed them or not, but I haven't seen comparisons between the MG and original 1/100 (HG?) . No mention of compatibility of the Assault/Buster packs either. My MG V2 should be here in a few days so if I haven't found any by then I'll snap some pics. Also BOOOO on P-Bandai effect parts.
Quick question. Do you recommend the mg Sinanju titanium finish and the mg Unicorn HD color+cage?
I would just go with the OVA Versions of both. If you want the Sinanju TF for it's color scheme, I would just suggest spray painting it. For Unicorn, if your just going to have it in one pose (unicorn mode), just get what you want.
Hey Jabman025 do you think Bandai will ever make the Assault and Buster add on packs for the V2?
dope gundam. have you built the original victory gundam ver ka? I love both victory 1 and 2. was just wondering which was the more quality kit.
I didn't know mobile suits had so many sponsors lol
Dear Jabman, you're a friend to painting, and I've heard that painting tightens up loose joints.
When you point out loose connections, are you staying true to the pros and cons of a straight build, or do you dislike tightening up joints with paint?
A little bit of both, if you're a straight builder it's a problem you will just have to live with, if you are a painter its just one more thing you have to do.
I know its a bit late but does the v dash work with this kit
how do you make the decal stick so well?
+Rahmat Seno Putra micro set decal bonder
is it the same as mr mark setter or mr mark softer?
O well R i guess I the G master grade I of N twenty-fifteen is...
I'm a fan of Victory and v2 but it is sad the kits are hard to finish. Im no mg expert i currently have epyon, Nu ver ka, and Freedom 1.0

Yeah, hearing this, some replacement hands might be a requirement.
Holy crap didn't even know this existed! Next paycheck here I come!
Damn you +jabman025 I was going to walk away from this kit but you had to throw down the gauntlet.
Any IBO kits on the horizon Jabman?
+Fozzy Well there's that High Resolution Barbatos that is basically a mix between Metal Build and Master Grade, but has a Metal Build/Perfect Grade level price. It looks pretty cool, but that price is a bit much for me and I'd rather wait for a Master Grade.
+xxnike629xx oh I know but meant if jabman would plan to get or review.
hey Jabman! I was wondering if you had the master grade Gyan? and if you could do a review?
I've been looking into it and there are no reviews for the guy??
tardislord02 well he has it now only 4 years later! :)
Is this still the most complicated? If not, what is?
no this is still the most complicated........you could argue that its now the V2 assault buster because it is just this same kit with more stuff
You said that this was the most complicated MG you've built to date. In regards to that, how does it compare to the MG Banshee in terms of assembly? Reason I ask is because to me so far the MG Banshee was ridiculously complicated.

sometime I wonder what bandai was smoking when they were designing the hand. some mobile suit can not hold their weapon at all
Hey man, I know timing may be off since you posted this over a year ago, but I just finished building my V2, was really pissed and discouraged about the arm problem.. I couldn't help but mess with it some more and figured out how to fix it!i I was wondering if you ever messed with it any further and fixed it yourself? If not lemme know!
Dylan Bove, hey bro do you mind shedding some light on how you fixed the arm?
wyatt roberts I just attempted my first RUclips for ya! Go look up "Master Grade Victory Two Gundam Ver. Ka Arm Issue Solved" and I attempted to explain. 2:50 should be the direct explanation. Lemme
Know if it helps
I hope some aftermarket hands can help out some. shame the transformation, while done so well, is at the expense of the final mobile suit.
Can u review a traxxas slash
Built it and found out it wasn’t a really difficult build. In fact it was pretty easy.
I think I'll admire this kit from afar, and just buy the HGUC Victory 2 if I got the itch. I collect primarily 1/144 kits anyhow.
I've built this recently and I absolutely love the V2; one of my top 5 Gundam designs. However, when jabman says it doesn't pose...it does not. pose. At all

I like NASCAR decals on a mobile suit :9
i' m the first one, dude is's so unreal :) thanx for the review man!!!
shit should have seen this before ordering my victory 2 O_O
just finished building mine. 3 hrs to build the model and 9 hrs to put on the 350+ water slide decals....lost a few on the way. Decal setter is a must. I'm not looking forward to building the MG full armor gundam ver ka. It looks like it has even more water slide decals >.
i had no issues with the waist. js.
It's a shame this thing can't pose. I really like the V2, but having basically immobile hips is a deal breaker.
Would prefer a version of this without the transformation, for a more stable figure. It's such a small aspect of a gundam. I prefer my kits to also be play ready when done, which this isn't.
gtafan110010 well, there’s the HGUC V2, if you want that, if you are okay with the smaller size and other HG qualities
I can't wait to see this kit have to take on the load of a Giant backpack and Giant weapons...and Giant Armor overtop its original.
My V2 holds the beam rifle. I have the rifle lean toward the fingers and let the thumb hold it in place. I like this kit but it’s articulation is horrible and not a lot of posing actions.
Here I am expecting that the master grade would be better than high-grade I was wrong you want to victory 2 get the high-grade
Beldandi 😍
wish it came with the wings of light
+Kefkaownsall Well, Bandai has as Premium Bandai add on set that comes with the pink and blue effect parts. =) I would probably try to get one now, before it is sold out and then posted up on eBay at like 10x the price..lol
+xxnike629xx let us hope the assault buster parts don't go the same way
Kefkaownsall If we see Assault Buster MG, I think it will be a Premium Bandai add on kit or add on parts set
+Kefkaownsall And AB armor for P bandai. :/ God dang it bandai! Whyyyyy!
+Kefkaownsall The wings of light is already announced as a P-bandai exclusive
Now about the Assault Buster parts...Well you can already guess
The HG 1/100 was so much better. Much more stable and so much less complicated
*cough* origin kit of the year for 2015 *cough*
the legs on this kit were the only things stable.
If only the legs could spread out I would buy this but I cannot
Its hard on the fingers
Challenge accepted!
+gunplanut Oh... I know you.
Yeah I think I'll pass on this kit. Not just because I've only built one mg, and if I tried attempting this, I'd rage so hard, but mostly because I personally don't like the victory and v2 gundam. always felt too toy like and not enough mecha to me.
Anyone else get the oaomt joke?
A pain in the ass kit, but the v was even worse, i hate this kit.. that is what im geting, but you dont want to say it out loud.
+Fshop fshop no not really, I enjoyed the challenge that being said if I had the opportunity to build this again........I'm probably going to pass
The legs are by far the worst part to build imo. That waist section was cake walk. Legs have pieces that keep pooping off
I hated that bandai made the wing of light a stupid P bandai exclusive it like slap in the face to all fans like what they did with MG Altron.
Everything UC here
Ex-SEEDingly complicated
Tiny tiny pieces for that upper ZECHtion there
the articulation seems really sucks.. i almost bought it hahaa.. it's too much hassle for me..
i dont get why bandai make weapons that can't be held. so dumb.
Why are all the V Gundam kits total Shit LOL
i would rather watch seed destiny then buy this piece of crap
I know of noone who uses or displays their gundam in the transformed version..i see no reason why they even have the option. Most of us paint these and display them and after painting transforming them is impossible.. what a waste of time and engineering just to match the anime..everyone knows the gundam form looks rhe best and is how it is supposed to be displayed....if i wasntes to display a plane id build a macross..
