This was a popular wedding ballad in the late 70s thru mid 80s, not as much as We've Only Just Begun but I heard it at quite a few weddings in those days.
They came to my hometown of Lansing MI once n 1976. They were VERY popular in Japan and England, and other countries, not the USA... You may be hearing both the oboe and the English Horn here. The oboe is usually a more nasal sounding tone in a higher range, but the English Horn a more rounded tone in the lower range. However if either one is not played with a good tone, they can be very annoying lol. That goes for the bagpipes too.🤣
