Feeling all bluesy. 90's is calling 😢 who else is feeling it? It is hard to believe that it's almost 3 decades since. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is a feel good film starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard - it is being immortalized in this tune - a song that really captures the zest of it!
For me it's the fact that it's been basically as long from this song coming out as it was from the original movie when this song came out. That's the astounding thing. Time truly flies.

I remember watching this music video early in the morning on MTV, I was a young girl and I was crazy about this song! It's sad how fast time passes. Happy new year everyone ♥️
yeah the 90's were a magical time. DAMN do I miss the 90's! There isn't a single person who was a kid IN the 90's who would disagree. It erks me a bit when people that were born IN the 90's think that they are a 90's kid...You had to be born in the 80's to really have experienced being a 90's kid from start to finish. I wish the world could go back to how it was in the 90's. Yeah, I am a wee bit obsessed lol
99.99 % of all the bands dont even achieve a single hit. No shame to make millions of people happy for about 30 years by now - and we will listen to his song in another 30 years too.
that is because the corporate media that time helps out real musicians. unlike today, many real young musicians never get the moment to shine on mainstream. worst is, some of them ends up being bedroom musicians
I was at that video shoot in New York when we were visiting my aunt (I'm originally from Germany). Was five or six years old at that time. We were sightseeing in New York when streets were blocked since they were shooting the clip there. I vaguely remember watching a bit of it, but completely forgetting about it for 20+ years until it came on in the car the other day and my mum reminded me of it. Now I'm watching this on repeat trying to find out where I had been standing :D
After my parents divorced, there was a big rift within my family and my mum desperately tried to bond with me over this song because we both liked the film. This song ended up being a catalyst for us bonding over old black & white films for many years after. She died 3 years ago and i still see this as 'our' song. Makes me sad hearing it now, but I'm glad it brought us closer all the same.
This is what's called a flash of genius. Yes, otherwise they were just another band, but at one point in their lives they put together a piece of music that still gets a cheer in almost any pub in the world, and will continue to do so for many years to come. A one hit wonder is too patronizing, so I prefer to call it a flash of genius
Graeme Pryce isn't it funny how we've called them "one hit wonders" for decades. at least for me this is the 1st time i've heard someone put it this way instead. beethoven is considered in many circles to be a "musical genius" but how much of the general public know any of his songs, except the 5th symphony? maybe a bad example since we gave him a lot of credit for writing music even though he was deaf but whatever.
Kewl Beans I think if you write music when you're deaf that is more likely to be good mathmatical, theological understanding of wiring notes ( that could never possibly mean anything to a deaf person ) down and sheer bloody good luck. lol
Graeme Pryce well from what i understand he wasn't born deaf so by the time he was he probably had a pretty good idea of what he was doing. still...whenever people have tried combining science and art...shit got a lil weird. xD
I totally agree. I’m turning 35 in a couple of days, and can’t believe how much things have changed since I was a kid. It was a much simpler time then..
@@johnhamburger6671 Every decade year month day has its own tragedy arround the globe , what is your point? Things were much simpler back in 1995 that what he said.
Underneath the catchy tunes and riffs, the lyrics of this song still hit hard today. A story of heartbreak and trying to reconcile, but finding out the other side is reluctant to want to.
@@bladerunner6 ya damn man maybe we should go back to a time before women had the choice to also have a say in relationships too bad she's also a conscious being with her own thoughts and feelings that may not line up with those of a random dumbass off the streets /s, because I know for a fact this belief is disturbingly prevalent

The 90's was my happiest decade. I listened to mostly older music at the time, so I don't have a lot of musical nostalgia from the era, which is tragic. This is one of about 10-12 songs that broke through my narrow focus at the time. It's precious to me.
+Fahad Riaz Long nights of studying thermodynamics and multi-variable calculus in the 24 hour study room of the library, just to get a high F? You can keep it.
This song just randomly popped into my head this morning while I was in the shower. I still remember all the words to it and I haven’t listened to it in years, so I just had to listen to the actual song. This is and always will be one of my favorites. ^__^ 💜💜
When I was reading this, all I could think was "finally, someone who showers AFTER sleeping!" If you shower before bed, you're just gonna sweat in your sleep and also get bed head lol
@@Just_Some_Yonko_With_A_Beard lol I get showering after a long day if you feel like you need to do it, but yeah, I totally agree. You’ll just end up sweating in your sleep and needing a shower the next day anyway, so why not just wait til the next day in the first place, right?
Breakfast at Tiffany's is always a morning or night music delight - the breakfast itself morning or night would have to be super special to be an equal delight.
My high school British Literature teacher always sang this song, and whenever I listen to it, it reminds me of all the good times I had and how he was a teacher of such high caliber. Thanks, Mr. Lancaster.
I just looked up where they were from today. I figured they were either English or maybe Swedish or something. I was definitely surprised they were from Texas.
@Michelle Dawn I'd say they're okay as is the rest of the album besides Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's the best song out of the whole album. That's my bit anyway.
Possibly they did and they just didn’t want the hoopla of fame and perhaps had George Bizets attitude about savages. I wouldn’t blame them. Terrible having to perform in front of beasts who treat you with very little dignity or respect.
I guess in the US haha. But on the Balkans however... I guess all countries have that rose tinted time period. That is also different from person to person.
I love how the 90's had videos of artists just singing and walking down the streets of NY. There was something so authentic about it. No sex, money, cars, alcohol or drugs. The ordinary people were your entertainment.
There were music videos all throughout the 70's 80's 90's that seemed larger-than-life and weren't purely performance videos. The 90's wsa the era of Ghetto Fabulous p.diddy/notorious B.I.G. mini-movie videos. These comments r dumb.
I love this song unlike anything I have ever heard . The drummer does incredible shuffle beats and awesome cymbal crashes . Take it from me because I played for 45 years.
Nothing wrong with it but of course way too expensive since you're paying for the name, not the food. Tried it once when I was at a convention in NYC so all expenses were on my boss. Can feel nice to pretend you're rich... Now, if you are, you can go whenever you like and mention it to all your friends and acquaintances, especially the snobbish ones ;-)
I guess i wont coming back... Half of the world dont care much about rock or band or lyrical music.. Mumble Hiphop(not a real hiphop) is dominating the music industry
Who remembers being in their early twenties and hearing this song for the first time?? And all the memories since then when hearing this song?? Oh the nostalgia!!❤❤❤😊
This song will always remind me of my online friend Tom from Germany. We were chatting on the daily for years, watching David Blaine parodies without a care in the world. After he went away to some army summer camp (Tom wanted to become an engineer in the army) we lost touch. Tom if by any chance you ever see this message, hit me up. Miss you buddy, hope you are doing well.
The effects you're hearing are a delay combined with reverb on a clean guitar tone. You can see some Fender amplifiers in the background when they're in the park. Those are famous for their perfect clean tones. Combine that with a nice hollow-body guitar, and you get this love end-result.
The guitar in the video looks like a Gretsch, but that sound is definitely a Fender Strat through a Fender Twin Reverb. Get your hands on those and you've got the greatest guitar tone ever 🙂
Just watched the movie tonight for the millionth time. This song is what introduced me to classic films. I had this album when it came out. Still one of my favorites!
20 years later and it's just as great. People make fun of "one hit wonders" but these guys captured lightning in a bottle with this song. It will never get old. 20 years from now people will be listening to it. 50 years from now, assuming we are all still here.
You know, that's a good question. Cumulatively are there more one hit wonders than not, meaning they actually produce more and better music than multi hit artists, over time.
This song reminds me exactly of how it was to be 10! When this song came out I would obsessively listen for it to come onto the radio so I could tape it. I kept getting parts of it but not the entire thing, or the DJ would talk over the end of it. So amazing how easy it is to listen to nearly any song these days.
songs like these always make me wish i was born in 80s, 90s just to live through such iconic songs. it truly seems that 90s were the best years for music and movies.
If I remember correctly, no one gave a shit about this song when it was released. Similar to lesser hit, Dogs Eye View's Everything Falls apart, it was too poppy during those 90s grunge days. My friends at the time ridiculed me for liking it so much.
@@jmorris023 well, it’s similar now. i used to be a die-hard one direction fan and people wished me death because of it… :D that didn’t change my love for them and if i was born during the time this song came out, i know i also wouldn’t care if people disagreed. this song rocks!

its funny how almost every time you think of something to comment you can find someone else or many others that have said the same thing. i love how music evokes such vivid emotions in all of us, no matter what walk of life we come from
The song holds a special place in my heart. Growing up in Nigeria and only being exposed to hip hop and R & B. This was one of the first ever rock / alternative music I ever heard. I sounded different and weird.. but it grew on me and I went on to become a rock head. Break At Tiffany's will always be that gate way song that draw me into a new world of music.. glad to have witnessed the golden age and era of rock music of the 90s and early 2000s
This and every other song from the era of the 90's produce a different hormonal rush in my body. It's nostalgia combined with the high spirited existential realm of art, especially music.
I remember seeing them at the Hop in Fort Worth in 1993. There was this drunk girl in the bar who kept yelling out occasionally "DEEP BLUE SOMETHING ROCKS!" What a great era that was for alternative music. It was all just emerging then. I remember the lead singer took off his shirt and the girls loved it. I'm pretty sure they even played this song.
So I watched this video a couple of years ago at a restaurant (no audio) and at that moment I thought “that’s a really good looking guitar” (the black Gibson ES-135). Time passed by and a couple of months ago I stumbled upon this same model at eBay, who’s quite rare, never heard of that model before and apparently it never succeeded. But the guitar was at a very affordable price. I didn’t recalled this video right away and the shape is similar to other jazz models like the ES-175. Long story short I bought it, it was in pretty bad shape, polished it, worked on the frets, and since then I been loving this guitar a lot. It’s a dream come true, it can jazz and rock with it’s own flavor. I owe a lot to this old video it took me a while to find it, I didn’t knew who they were or how popular was the song (at least it was not popular in Mexico) but it’s now on my playlist, just because. Not the typical story about this video, right? Cheers to all quarantine folks! Stay safe.
@@ash2roid871 Haha, almost there. If it's calling you, give it a try. There're options right now on Reverb and Ebay and even an Epiphone version, none of them in black and with P90's, but at least you get the closest feeling. Yesterday I spent hours playing it thinking of how lucky still I am, I think the black one is the one that has all the juju, tho. If you wait for the black one, be cautious because it might spell you as well.
This song came out when my husband and I started dating. This was “our song.” The charm and good feels of it has stood the test of time. Our love for it will never fade just like my love for my husband hasn’t. Here we are 30 years later still enjoying this song and each others company. Happy birthday, babe. Love ya
Sadly, the sound of someone stomping a burning bag of manure sounds better than 95% (I'm being very generous) of today's "music" at the beginning of 2023. And, as another gentleman said elsewhere, flash of genius with this band! Well done!
I just love this song, I heard it only last year and fell in love with it. I was a 90s kid and this song just gives me an immediate nostalgia. When you had no smart phones, playing with yo yos, going to blockbuster to watch videos, the library to hang out and borrowing a book at the counter, middle school, actually dressing like a kid, watching 90s kids movies like my girl, home alone, secret garden and listening to 90s songs, like this :) it was the little things that were so exciting.
I can't believe that 20 years have passed since the time this song was released. Man, I have grown old and so have all the 90's people. But I miss those times, the music, the TV, the uncomplicated life along with the unique challenges of that age. I miss my family. Next Song -> The Byrds - Turn, turn, turn
I agree, I miss the playful 90's when bands could sing about light hearted candy in the sky songs. Instead of nowadays when its all bitches, stacks, hoes, parties, drinking and drugs.

This was mostly shot on the street in 1995 right in front of Tiffany's in New York. -- and I play one of the waiters. Having not seen this in years, I'd forgotten that I turn up at least five times in this: at 1:10, 1:41, 1:44, 2:22 and 2:51. The director didn't really tell us what to do so we all improvised.
So you were the youngest looking waiter, eh? I find it slightly amusing that several of the pedestrians glance at the musicians but none of them stop and stare. I guess it takes more than the odd street scene to jolt New Yorkers out of their blasé attitude. Did the production set up those tables on the street without needing permits?

that is because the corporate media that time helps out real musicians. unlike today, many real young musicians never get the moment to shine on mainstream. worst is, some of them ends up being bedroom musicians
Thank you good sir for this comment. How true it is.
Coole Geschichte ;-)

So cool 😆
After my parents divorced, there was a big rift within my family and my mum desperately tried to bond with me over this song because we both liked the film. This song ended up being a catalyst for us bonding over old black & white films for many years after. She died 3 years ago and i still see this as 'our' song. Makes me sad hearing it now, but I'm glad it brought us closer all the same.
Such an emotional story. Thank you for sharing this. I love re-visiting tracks like these.
Just watched Breakfast at Tiffany's as it's her birthday today. I think I'll make this an annual tradition.
Thank you for sharing ☺️🥹 I'm happy that you were able to bond with your mum before her passing. ❤️🌹

+Polpiv4tifish i can dig it. ;)
+Polpiv4tifish Well said man. That is a good way of describing a lot of '1 hit wonders'. :-)
Graeme Pryce
isn't it funny how we've called them "one hit wonders" for decades. at least for me this is the 1st time i've heard someone put it this way instead. beethoven is considered in many circles to be a "musical genius" but how much of the general public know any of his songs, except the 5th symphony? maybe a bad example since we gave him a lot of credit for writing music even though he was deaf but whatever.
Kewl Beans I think if you write music when you're deaf that is more likely to be good mathmatical, theological understanding of wiring notes ( that could never possibly mean anything to a deaf person ) down and sheer bloody good luck. lol
Graeme Pryce
well from what i understand he wasn't born deaf so by the time he was he probably had a pretty good idea of what he was doing. still...whenever people have tried combining science and art...shit got a lil weird. xD
If you're going to be a one hit wonder, then this is how you do it. 2020 and this song still sounds amazing.

I love how the 90's had videos of artists just singing and walking down the streets of NY. There was something so authentic about it. No sex, money, cars, alcohol or drugs. The ordinary people were your entertainment.

90’s music had it’s own distinctive sound. Miss the 90’s Era and the music.

[Verse 1]
You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
Still I know you just don't care

And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it."
And I said "Well, that's one thing we've got."
[Verse 2]
I see you - the only one who knew me
And now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over
And I hate when things are over
When so much is left undone
[Chorus]
And I said "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"

And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it."

This is the song and music video of my entire existence. Like, when I die, just play THIS.
Stay safe.
I'm so glad you know what that guitar is, I always thought it was a hollow-bodied Ibanez variant. I've always wanted it too!

A love song to the 90's heck yeah
journeyman44 I was born 1988
As a child of the late '2000s I have no idea why I was surprised that this was a '90s song. Honestly, when it comes to music, sometimes I feel like I missed out on the golden era.
Sign of a good song that it works in any era.
This was out when I was 18, thank you god for such a long life. I will never take anything for granted.
i love this songs !!! it reminds me the old and happy years of when i was a teenager :)
i am now 16 years old and i have the same feeling as you. was born 15 years to late. i hate what society has become and what music has become is just sad
Filippo Soraperra yes.
Well that's one thing we got
I love the video it reminds me of a time when there where more shops variety of people and places to go also people seemed to want to talk more in person a time before technology took over to much
Filippo Soraperra Stop with the cry for attention.
I can't get enough of this song...25yrs and it is still a hit
Heard this for the first time in ages yesterday whilst on a canal cruise in Amsterdam - great cruise, great song.
You'll say we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
Still I know you just don't care
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
I see you, the only one who knew me
But now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over
And I hate when things are over
When so much is left undone
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
Still I know you just don't care
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
Ooh, and I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
Comments with lyrics should be#1
Thanks
those guitar solo riffs are best thing about the tune, pure class!
Οmg. Life looked so good back then. Sure we/you didn't have the technology we have now, but watching videos, pictures, etc from 40 50 years ago makes me nostalgic in a way. I'm 22 and sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era.
Definitely feel the same way as you
Ακριβώς
I was born and grew up on 63st and 5th ave. Every time I miss the old days I come to this song. Many things are still the same but so many things have changed😢. Miss my old city.. great memories
I saw them at a club on New Years Eve in Grand Prairie, Texas not long after this song was released. Such a great show, they were a wonderful band.
