I had a very difficult time with my art during my life, up to a point that I stopped completely. Was way too hard for myself. So I forced myself to stop. So a long part of my life I did not pick up a pencil. Then enter pandemic. Lost my job and got time to think. Came to a conclusion I am most happy doing art. So now I made a plan to make something for myself with my art (roughly 5 year plan). Cuz I want to do in life what I want to do in life. You can't go trough it completely on your own terms, but if I can get close then I'll be happy for the rest of my life. And you David and a handfull of other great teachers who so generously want to give back to the community inspired me immensely to push forward. I lost so many years, but now at least have the drive again to do art. It's harder to do than before. But you guys (David And the others *sounds like a band*) are helping me (and inspire) to understand the fundamentals like no one could before. Thank you so very much for all of this.
David has legitimately helped me since 2013 and I am so happy that you have this channel, even though I'm not financially stable, I will still support you with what I have, and support myself by watching your helpingly amazing videos, thanks David!!
I've been inking a lot of your piece recently, and noticed how much tight detail you do in pencil! It's so crazy to think how long that would take with a pencil, considering it takes a long time with a brush pen. Congrats on being the best!
Thanks a lot for this tutorial! I finally managed to complete a drawing I was struggling with. It's far from perfect, but better than how it was before!
@@adamdhilton yes, I have inked over David Finch’s pencil before. For the cost of Vampi Omnibus as well as when Finch ghost pencilled a few pages on the DC/Top cow cross over comics, JLA/Witchblade. Hey David. You’re one of my favorite tutorial artists on RUclips and I’ve learned so much because of you! Can you please do a tutorial on wings? Specifically angel wings? I don’t know if they’re that different from bird’s wings. You rock!
Hey Mr. Finch! I just finished your Skillshare course, and Loved it! Currently working on the projects you assigned to the class. I also posted each page of my sketchbook on the discussions, and hope to see more courses.
i like how your actually telling us what to do, like conciously making sure we dont draw the same sizing ,what shaping to use ,exc. alot of tutorials are just like “draw a line, make it look like fire, and done! you drew fire!” 😹
Omg! Omg! Can we get a tutorial where you talk about comic panels! I've been struggling to draw flowing comic panels that aren't just basic rectangles.
It will be really helpful in the drawings i make and ps. i have been thinking about drawing fire in my drawing more often. Thank you sir i'm a really big fan of your work
I just found out and he's awesome I've been looking at comics and manga they are what got me into drawing. Started to learn basics recently. This has been a great help.

It's great to hear that you're going about it the right way. My tutorials jump around and cover lots of things, but the best way to learn is to focus, and Bridgeman is such a great resource
Great tutorial! Thank you for that. I think I would appreciate it more, if you had drawn examples of 'layering' and 'tangents' as you were talking about it, because it was confusing as to what you really meant, when the video kept going.
Was just thinking about finding a video like this one, then you go and make it, cheers!! Will be nabbing that Red Sonja of yours as well when it is out. It will go nicely with my other 4 Sideshow prints of her. Big fan of your work, mate, and these videos have been great!!!
