Did you know that Mr Yar's stall had its humble beginnings as a pushcart hawker back in 1969 before making its home at the Amoy Street Food Centre? For the past 5 decades, he has been winning the hearts of his fans with his delicious and freshly prepared soup.
Despite his age, Mr Yar still takes on the arduous task of handling and slicing Batang fish from scratch, which is no easy feat. Due to declining health, the stall now operates only 3 days a week for about 4 hours each day. This hasn't stopped loyal fans from queueing up to get a taste of his tantalizing soup, with the most prized items being the fish head and roe, which are always the first to sell out.

Their fish soup porridge not bad. But the stupid thing is they want to sell the stall and not exactly a business, hence nobody wants to buy "a stall". The potential buyer end up to be working like a slave to the stall, which the person could have being better go do a white collar job and take that few hundred dollars to invest into S&P instead.

I remember they had this $7 seafood soup many years ago.. now probably not $7 anymore..they had a sign add 1 prawn $1.. so imagine if your friend say want to treat you.

I prefer Han Kee and Mr Batang fish soup. Fish portion a lot and price $5 reasonable. I remember this stall staff rude and ask me to order $10 no selection double the price of other stall and that was a few years back. I didn't go back to them.
Need no worry, they are calling it a day. Visit Han Kee for the long que is worth it.
This stall is expensive but serves the best fish soup in Singapore. My opnion

Should be closing after CNY. Mostly regular went before the stall open. Until sold out in 3 hours.

Early 90s when i was working in the bank they already selling at $4 per normal bowls. Big bowl is $6. With fish roe and mix seafood even more. And those days 1 packet char kway teow only $1.20 ... 😂 and they have customers queuing up and willing to pay the price...
