I myself don’t like paneling, another option would be molding on the walls. I love the look of molding on the walls painted the same color as the walls, in a square or rectangular shape and a beautiful big rug. ❤️👌🏼

Fun video. Instead of the paneling I think I would add a grass cloth wallpaper and if done right (with sizing, etc), it can be an easy change if you get tired of it. I love the hutch and the opposite wall w/mini sideboard or glass bar cart if room. I’m sure what ever you decide will be awesome.

I love everything you shared with us. Our old dining room was that shape. But we had a patio door at the end. Our old dining table was an oval, that had a leaf in the middle, when we needed the room. And we had a hutch in there too. It was tight. I wouldn’t put the paneling on the back wall and put the hutch there. Then the table in the middle. There probably won’t be room for a hutch and a table next to each other. That’s how my dining room was. The back wall was the patio door. So everything was all crammed in there. I would measure it and see how it would fit. Take it from me. We had inches between the hutch and the chairs trying to get up from the table. You could barely walk around the table comfortably. I love the things you picked. But I think you should measure the hutch and see how much room is left. You might find out it’s not too much. Because I lived it for twenty some years. Our first table and hutch were smaller. But my husband would take the dining chairs downstairs when he had band practice. And the guys ruined them by sitting on them wrong. So we had to get new furniture. It was probably bigger. And we were cramped.

Personally, I’ve never had a large dining room, and on occasion, it’s been too tight too have any furniture other than the table and chairs. The house we have now a rectangular table wasn’t the best choice, so I found a gorgeous, antique, round, oak table on Facebook Marketplace with chairs. We’ve been so happy with the round table, and I agree with you, Brandy. I would put a round table in this room if it was my space. I like the idea of the paneling, and maybe you could run the wiring for the sconces up behind the paneling, so it looks like they’re hardwired even though they’re plugged in. I think a bar cart opposite the hutch, but in the corner closest to the back wall, would be nice with either a smalllish lamp sitting on it or a floor lamp standing beside it. I hope that makes sense. 😊

I think I’d like box molding more than panel. It would give visual interest without being too busy in such a small space

  • @tamarahenderson9615

Does the space have 3 feet on each side of the table for the chairs plus the hutch depth plus room for a guest to walk behind those that are seated on both sides of the table? If not, I would consider using an upholstered banquette in leather placed against one of the side walls. This would eliminate the need for walkway space on that side of the table. I might place the narrow buffet/console table you mentioned on the back wall with that stunning lamp you chose! I think that having the eye drawn all the way to the back of the room will make the space feel larger. I love the tapestry idea to hang over the banquette and bring some color and texture to the space with the picture light you chose to highlight that focal point. I might also add a large green potted fern to the back buffet and a curvy glass hurricane candle lamp to the table.

Hey Brandy, who would have thought that a dining room could be a challenge in a good way that is?!?😊 There are so many ideas but your advice to take your time and add just the table, chairs and hutch if that's the plan. Sometimes we might overthink a space and over do it with decor, furniture, rugs, wall art. Sometimes less is more. I personally like the hutch on the left. With this dining room having more of a length vs width I suggest vertical wall art too draw your eye up, creating the illusion that the space is bigger and not feel cluttered. You can add some color in the rug but something that's not too busy, neutral enough to work all year round and where it doesn't become the focal point of the room. The table and tablescape should standout and then everything around and in it would pull it together. I like to hear your thought process and how you approach styling and decorating a space. Taking notes for future spaces 👍🏼🏡😊

Good morning my friend!! I think you are right about going with more length than with, once I read you describing that it totally made sense. The rug was a challenge because like you said, we don’t want it to be distracting but also do want the added layer for warmth. Thank you for talking me through this one again (I struggled a bit) and agreeing to take our time, it don’t need to be filled up with a bunch of things, as you said less is more!! 🥰🤗

@BrandyJackson Good Morning my Friend 😎 You have some amazing ideas and your eye for styling is impeccable. Once you have the large pieces in the room you will get a better sense of what it needs and what to add. I almost think of it as feeling the room. No two dining rooms are ever the same. Some spaces require just that one piece, or paint color or rug to bring speak to you on what the room should look like. You are rubbing off on me Brandy 😅 I learn a ton from your videos. Thank you 👌🏽🫶🏽

    Hola Brandy,
If it was my dinning room, I would add the following...
Wall paper behind the hutch because the hutch is the "star" of the show.... preferably a light green.
    Light wood Retangle dinning table
Dining chairs with gold or brass legs you can see to let the air/energy through.
Glass wall art to reflect light...not a fan of tapestry... due to allergies...dust collectors.
I will place sconces with rechargeable light bulbs.
Floating shelves to place the art or led candles.
The top of the hutch I will leave it empty because it will be filled inside. I would add puck lights inside the hutch so illuminate at night.
As for the rug, I prefer a bare floor.
I would paint the cealing in lacquer white to reflect more light.
Not a fan of mirrors in the dinning area.

Oh wow!! 😍 I love love love that you were so descriptive because I could actually visualize what you were saying! Good point about nothing on the hutch, you’re right with it being full and may not need anything! Thank you so much for walking me through what you would do, it’s so helpful!! 🥰🤗

This is very similar to the dining room in our home we just had built. The only thing in it right now is a large credenza/sideboard on the back wall. My room is more rectangular than square, so the dining table will be horizontally in the room. I love the idea of a natural element in the dining room. Instead of putting a sisal rug under the table, my plan (I think) is to cover the back wall in a natural color grasscloth.

    • @BrandyJackson
      @BrandyJackson  5 месяцев назад

Hang colorful/ patterned curtains on that back wall to make it seem like there's a window
And I'm not typically a dining rug person, but a colorful/ patterned rug under the table since the colors in the walls & floor are too similar
