    Great video Lance! I am strongly considering a late pledge on this. Couple of questions
    1. Is there a lot of tiny text on the cards similar to some of the Arkham horror LCG cards?
    2. What is the level of replayability since this is similar to a choose your own adventure?
    3. How many different stories/scenarios/chapters are there in the base game?

      Hey Chris thanks for checking out the video and for your questions. Unfortunately I can't answer them currently as they have make a lot of changes sense the time I covered it. They listened to a lot of the feedback from backers. I have been in talks to do an updated video covering the game as it is now and will try to keep your questions in mind if they end up sending me an updated prototype.

    The game mechanics seems interesting, and the immersive theme is intriguing.
    As of right now (April 2022), I'm debating whether to pledge or not. If I do, I don't think I will go with the "all in" pledge. Maybe the Otherworld Experience Pledge, the "Executioners Abomination" miniatures, an extra $60 expansion , and the game mat.
    I'm still debating it, as I wanted to save-up for a KDM Black Friday sale. But this one looks pretty nice.
    Thanks for the video.

      @@LearntoPlayGames Nice. I don’t have intrusive Facebook, so I rely on their updates to my email addy.
      I’m still hyper interested in the game. Just hope they don’t use an app…or they’ll lose me.
      Also looking at dumping some decent moolah into the new game, “Sankokushin”. (It’ll hit KS soon).

    Wow. This game looks like a trip. It appears to have the potential to actually be horrific and disturbing (as opposed to AHCG, which, much as I love it, is just pulpy fun). While Lance describes the miniatures as "pretty" and the brutal psychiatric treatment cards as "fun," what I'm thinking is AIEEEEE! Now if you'll excuse me, I have a bed I need to hide under.

    • @LearntoPlayGames
      @LearntoPlayGames  5 лет назад

      Thanks for sharing, getting into the story book for Emily it is twisted, I love it. I would also recommend checking under your bed before you hide under there, might not be as safe as you think with these monsters running around.

      @@LearntoPlayGames yeah, i'm hoping for a really scary game some day, i'm even designing one but still, too hard to accomplish in a board game

  • @Kindlesmith70

    I can see this game is suffering from excessive die rolling, many tokens.... pass. Deep Madness was bad enough, and worse had a really shitty storage method that didn't even allow for sleeved cards. I've taken the game out to play rarely due to it being so inconvenient in all aspects.

    • @LearntoPlayGames
      @LearntoPlayGames  5 лет назад

      Thanks for posting, I see what you are saying and not every game works with every person, being able to identify what you like is great.I enjoy large production games like Deep Madness and wished I had more time to get them to the table more. Thanks for watching;)

  • @Kindlesmith70
    @Kindlesmith70 5 лет назад

    Problems with horror is most game developers use:
    Monsters can be killed.
    All information becomes known, which includes seeing the monsters if any.
    Two of the most ineffective approaches to horror in any horror genre.
    They can try to be unique, but ultimately will fail since I will be 100% sure that will will draw all of the lore, concepts, and mechanisms from somewhere else.
    Quit saying unique, because it's not true.
    If you think anything in this game and in Deep Madness has NEVER been done before you live under a rock. When you say "we" you only mean yourself. Don't lump everyone into your narrow experience with the genres.

    • @LearntoPlayGames
      @LearntoPlayGames  5 лет назад

      Unfortunately I think game mechanics have a large role within this as it would make sense to have a monster from time to time you can't kill, but seeing that in a couple of games I have covered in the past really hurts the game as it is so hard to balance that within a game.
      As far as unique goes you are correct there are literally over 5000 games coming out each year across the industry so every game mechanic has been done so many time by now there is nothing totally unique anymore, but it is how you use the mechanics within the game you are making and the theme and style that makes the game unique within that definition.
      I am not sure if you are directing the last part at me directly but if so being a board game teacher has provided me with access to a very large and diverse array of games from most companies in the industry. Most of the time I am willing to try most games even if I am not a big fan of the mechanics in them as sometimes I am surprised by a game and really enjoy it. So I feel I have had a broad experience with most genres, but I would never force my options on others that is why I do mainly teaching videos and not reviews as I want you to form your own options on the game and decide if it is a good fit for you. Again thanks for posting and watching;)

    • @Kindlesmith70
      @Kindlesmith70 5 лет назад

      @@LearntoPlayGames Yeah the last part was aimed towards you. The "your not the boss of me", or "don't speak of me like you know me" troupe. It's petty. I do petty things. You mentioned we at some point that annoyed me. I get everyone has personal views, but I don't like being lumped into some agreement where it isn't true for me. In the video it just sounded like I should have the exact same thought of things.
      Trying out every game is great. It doesn't hurt to try. It does hurt the wallet though if someone wants to try games and no one else has the game to try it out. XD It's also bad when there is no one else to play with. Not a problem I have, but I understand this isn't an uncommon thing.
      I've learned through a lot of trial and error the things to watch out for which will not be favorable in a game.
      Love to give this game a spin, but I certainly wouldn't buy it because of having experienced the clunky/fiddly nature of the Deep Madness. Not too fond of games that take as long to set up and pack up as they do to play. I love a lot from Deep Madness, just not the amount of components it requires and lack of storage forethought.
