Actually, whenever I receive flowers from someone else or get them for myself (especially if they're still in the bud stage, as is often the case)...I sing this song to them while I'm trimming the ends of the stems before I put them in water. I love the joyful, encouraging, appreciative energy that this song has...for that matter, I think that may be part of the reason why Daisy (Streisand's character) does so well with plants in the film and not just because she's named for one!

A vocal masterpiece.I can't find one single flaw in this delivery, not a hair.Every syllable pronounced, every single note, oozing with honey and perfection.....You will never, ever have a singer better than Barbra when she was singing at this point in her life. I was mesmerized and floored by her singing in this musical. And that ending!!!!..moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooore. omg!! Beyond human. Her voice and talent was colossal, gargantuan. Wow.

OMG Just found this. This song could have been written for Ella - Sara V. - Lena - Billie -
ALL of those voices are in this performance. And yet completely original and naturally superior. How it NEVER will be done again!

Barbra never looked better on film than in this film. By their third collaboration, Harry Stradling really knew how to capture Barbra's beauty. Sadly he passed away after OWL, their fourth and last film together.

This is a classic film opener with Barbra singing.Julie Andrews also memorable running up the hills of the swiss alps. Two other equally magnificent Sttreisand openers where she sings has got to be TWWW (ah,Hubbel jogging thru the campus, who can forget that?)and I believe 'Just Leave Everything to me',totally brilliant & ingenious music & lyrics by Jerry Herman and the incomparable, perfect vocal delivery by Barbra.

I used to laugh at people who liked Streisand when I was a kid. Until one day I got to listen to this song from a friend's ipod. I was so impressed by her voice that I decided to give her a chance and since I have been a fan.
When I compare the crap on the radio to songs like this I am very happy real composer/singers like her are still among us.

Tommy Tune told an anecdote about a small vocal rehearsal for Dolly where he describes being close to her while she's making her sound. To pararphrase he said it was luke there were colors coming out of her mouth... The voice was in marvelous shape throught this whole period.

I love "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever"!!!! But I have a question, when I first saw the movie on television in the 1960's there was a scene at the end of the movie where they are in Virginia in a beautiful house high on a hill (in the future) - but it's not on the DVD. Anyone know what happened to that scene?

Same .. but I've always said her insane talent transcends her whack job lefty politics. Also, I'll give her credit; as WRONG as she is, at least she's the real deal going all the way back to '72.

    • @wotan10950
