Your mic and audio are great, everytime there's a windy video - it's all good. Thanks for the video! p.s. as for the dirty ports - I think that's normal. Even house vacuum robots need to be cleaned every now and then. It's true that it needs to be automated, but it still needs a good rinse every now and then.
It was so windy! literal lawn chairs were blowing away 😂 I've been using a robot vacuum for years and haven't had that happen yet. Never even thought about cleaning those connections. I have no issues with my Husqvarna robot mower but its charging connection is a bit more robust.
You should put the Luba in the trailer and just keep driving until the RTK stops. I bet it goes for a mile. If the signal goes a mile, then it will handle anybody's yard even from a compromised position.
Crazy, thank you for all your patience with the Luba. It really helps us to decide it we should purchase it. BTW, have you had any new firmware updates?
Had one a week or two ago, they're still working on the next one there's some kind of scheduling bug they're trying to fix. Mine has developed a new bug where it doesn't want to go home got to figure that one out next 😂
25:03 - It's not seeing the IR signal for some reason. The windows could be dirty, or perhaps you have some failed IR emitters in the base station so the IR beam is too weak to pick up far away.
No one is testing the house interference. I'm seriously looking forward to seeing a video on that. In particular getting really close to the house, and then really far from the house but the RTK is on the other side.
I plan on doing this tomorrow hopefully but the weather is really bad here rainy and cold. The actual RTK signal is more robust than people think It's the GPS that I'm having more issues with. I had to move the base station out away from the house because the house was blocking GPS and sometimes it seems like the tree leaves block the GPS as well. But hopefully tomorrow we can give the RTK signal a good workout!
Thank you for showing the charging bug! Yes, that charge interface looks like a poor design. Does the mower latch into place when charging? It looks like the system depends on the mower itself to keep the connector springs in tension. If the software is smart it could use its wheels to maintain tension.
User manual says you are supposed to clean it with water on a regular basis, so that it's not covered with grass or dust/dirt. Give it a bath and it'll probably start working...
@@Crazypostman that oil may get sticky over time :( I would just wash like a car at least once a week with the sheer volume of grass you're cutting. Looking forward to more updates!
I've seen another user comment that using the 12v power supply for the rtk results in a less stable signal than when the rtk is directly powered from the base (24v). They thought that the voltage drop especially when using an extension was causing problems. Perhaps something that you could test? The issues you are having with position could be a combination of this, the leaves over and the dust on the mower attenuating the signal.
These are all three serious problems! If it's a 12 volt issue that's something that needs to be addressed, but if basic tree leaves and dust are causing a lawn mower to not work That's a huge design flaw! They are meant work out in the yard where there's dust and trees! I'll be able to test the 12 volt issue This weekend I'm going to remount the RTK to the charger station mount.
Maybe you see my comment on previous videos about external power supply. I post new video with rtk connected directly in charging base using extension cable. Without extension you can get max best signal results
I kinda skipped through the video. Did you ever announce the angle of incline? You said 8 ft, but that's irrelevant. The Measure app on your phone can measure degrees. It would help to have that. Looks like it did pretty great though, especially with the tall, slippery grass.
Neat video test, especially with the hill climb. Does the Luba app allow you to manually mow? I was thinking maybe you could have done that on the hill to be able to climb it directly instead of diagonally. Like you said, I think the Luba was losing traction and getting its tires twisted up on the tall grass.
No can't mow manually, I would have to make a zone out there and have it do it automatically. I should have cut a strip with the Cub cadet didn't think about it
Always look forward to these videos! My Luba just came in 😅. But I won’t be able to use it as I’m away for a business trip. Ordered it less than a month again. I’m surprised it came in so quick! Will be curious if the RTK will be able to perform well being positioned on the charging dock.
Hopefully I will get to make that video this Saturday. Luba got trapped in the backyard again but this time it wasn't its fault It was a stick wedged in the blade area I feel like sticks are going to be my downfall since there's so many trees and a lot of them are in poor health and dying. You ordered one retail and already got it? So you weren't a part of the Kickstarter?
That doesnt seem that steep. They state a much steeper capability than the Husqvarna AWD, and that Ive seen tested to a very steep angle. The angle you tested on, it would have been good if you would have measure the rise / run. It's really easy to do. Measure maybe three feet above your feet then extend a tape measure until it hits ground level - then do the math (google it). That would give you your slope
The grass is too tall, I can't make a proper mowing zone if Luba gets stuck. What I could do is mow down a little strip and then see if Luba can make it up and down without so much grass in the way.
Understood from other comments. This can maintain a mowed lawn but not do the initial tall grass cut. Still need to keep a traditional mower handy if grass grows too tall.
Yes, you would schedule it to automatically cut more often than you would cut it with a normal mower. It will always keep your lawn looking perfect and never any clippings since it cuts two or three times per week in some cases. You really don't need a regular lawn mower still as long as you do your first cut of the year before it starts getting long. You will need a trimmer though because you'll have to go around the edges still manually
@@Crazypostman Thank You! I like the Luba a lot but it seems like the Husqvarna might be more reliable until Luba gets the kinks ironed out. Thank You for your videos!

I'm not comfortable recommending it at the moment... Unless you're okay with a beta level product. I do know the luba team is actively working on software and squashing bugs. But it's not perfect yet.

Anything is a possibility I suppose, but It was pretty far away and the back end was not pointed directly at the base. IR is a rather short range tool, I think it just wasn't getting close enough to lock on to it. But that raises another question why was it not close enough and why was it pointed in the wrong direction with centimeter level accuracy RTK it should have been able to back right up to the dock even without IR. Will keep messing with it this week and see what happens.
Great tests and debugging of why it was moving off the charger. But, why are you able to drive it so far away from your property and outside your work zones? Shouldn’t the security kick in or did you type the security code to end,e the far away testing?
@@Crazypostman Hmmm, so there’s no security keeping Luba from being taken and used elsewhere? That’s usually standard on these mowers. Maybe it hasn’t been implemented yet in the software. Perhaps you don’t need that in Oklahoma.

Maybe there is earth movement, causing all the unpredictables. Undo everything, start from reinstalling as your 1st time, things will be smooth again.
What does it do when it comes up to a mole dirt mound or small tree branches that a normal gas mower would just pulverize?

Will it mow the high grass on the slop or on do a maintenance mow after it has been cut?
Robotic lawn mowers like this are not meant to mow high grass. If this was a real situation You would mow that with a regular mower first.

It doesn't latch into place, It just backs up against the charging contacts They are slightly spring loaded.
There is tension while Luba is turned on but if Luba is turned off the wheels freely roll
Ta for the video mate ..
Maybe retry the hill after you cut it down to normal hight?
I should have done that! I had a mower right there!!
Do the sensors see the tall grass as an obstacle maybe that's why it stops?
It seems to ignore the sensors when you're in manual driving mode.
