Funny valentine felt so genuine that when he was trying to make a deal with jhonny i actually believed him because it wasnt like his character to lie about something like that, it really shocked me when i realised he planned on betraying jhonny all along, that shows how good of a character valentine is

Its true that Araki didn’t confirm this, BUT- it totally makes sense because Scarlet said “My husbands footsteps are silent” and RIGHT WHEN his body is at peak condition with Lucy on the table, there are specifically sound effects for his footsteps as he walks across the room.
I’m surprised I haven’t seen people mention this, when I first read SBR I thought that detail was 100% on purpose to show how he switched bodies.

For me JoJo always was a masterpiece. It's just such a unique story and yes I agree that it might be formulaic at times but the fact that stands are so unique and versatile makes every fight interesting

It's true that at the beginning of the story he was kinda a selfish prick who just wanted to cure his legs and that was exactly the point and it made a nice contrast between him and Valentine who is seen as so selfless and patriotic that his stand ability is literally replacing him with an alternate version of himself. But as the series progresses Johnny gets humbled and develops slowly from this journey while the more we learn about the corpse parts the more we realize how truly selfish Valentine truly is for his own country as the corpse parts takes all the misfortunes away and drops it somewhere else. So yeah the entire state of USA would become a safe haven but the rest of the world would have gotten completely fucked up, that's what makes Valentine a real villain.
(Lets not even mention how he's the mastermind behind the whole race and is pretty much responsible directly or indirectly for many characters deaths and innocent lives).

For me, jojo became a masterpiece during parts 4 and 5. Part 7 just solidified it

But tbh, it was the last arc of jojo part 3 which truly made me fall in love with jojo. For me jojo part 3 ending is the best ending arc in all jojo. Although i would never say that others aren't good or jojo part 3 is better than that. But that ending was the most satisfying ending in all part for me

Man of culture, Sugar Mountain is my personal favorite Steel Ball Run arc.
Sugar Mountain was great. It’s when Johnny’s development really starts kicking in.

I think Lucy was 14 to complete the Christ allegory, since the Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus at the age of 14. However, that did not justify all the adult male characters attempting to romance/get handsy with her like Mountain Tim, Scarlet Valentine, Funny Valentine, and Alternate World Diego. We really could've used a lot less of that.

i only very recently got into jojo and i just finished reading sbr
and when i say i have never felt such a strong emotional connection to be a piece of media, i truly mean it. sbr has some of the greatest moments of story telling i have ever read, and some of the greatest characters too. johnny in particular is incredibly important to me. when i started reading sbr, i too felt like i was at the lowest point of my life. i related so strongly with johnny’s struggles and trauma he’s experienced… i felt a connection so strong to him it’s almost impossible to put into words.
almost all of the characters, even the minor ones, had so much personality… sugar mountain, ringo, and blackmore immediately come to mind.
i am so grateful to have started my jojo journey, and i can’t wait to see what else araki has in store for us.

Part 7 is by far the best part of JoJo. It’s got the best protagonist, the best antagonist, the best side characters, some of the coolest stands, the best pacing, the best artwork, and the most complex themes.
That's fair, but I still prefer Kira to Valentine.

Although Part 5 is my favorite(its basically the shonen formula perfected), but Part 7 shows that Araki can do character arcs REALLY well.
Its the only part where he planned out almost everything and really took his time and it SHOWS

This is a manga that takes place in the wild west, and not just any manga, it's Jojo's. The idea is so bonkers and off the wall but for some reason works well. Way too well.
If you wants another manga takes place in wild west then I recommend green blood. Not good as JoJo at all but it's cool.

Funny's change is actually gradual, I kept an eye out for the exact moment of the change but there never really was one, he was getting more chad-like with every appearance
I always thought of it as a hint/foreshadowing to his power
Was I the only one who thought that the most noticeable change in Valentine's appearance came when he activated d4c and went to an alternate universe when he got trapped between the chair and the floor. Almost as If a new Valentine came out from the alternate dimension

Part 7 is the Araki's masterpiece but starting from part 4 and onward, I think you can at least call DIU and GW masterpieces in their own right due to the clever writing, genre blending, and art style throughout both💯. Just my opinion tho
For me part 4 wasn't that special to me maybe on a rewatch I will like it as much as everyone but part 5 is currently my favourite only watched the anime

What is not often discussed is Johnny's superior problem solving skills and analytical abilities in comparison to at the very least Jotaro.
Stardust Crusaders was 80% what does DIO's stand do? Even after they encountered the aftermath of it several times.
Steel Ball Run on the other hand, had Johnny face off against The World Diego once, MAYBE twice, and he figured out the time stop based on context clues from the encounter(s).
When Gyro said "That's not for you to decide!" When he got called a conformist. That's when I was like oh yeah, that's best Jobro right there.

I would put Part 4 up there, mostly because that's where I feel the character writing got really good. Kira, Rohan, and Okuyasu were all great.

Fair opinion but I believe JoJo ascended to the "masterpiece" status through the latter half of Stardust Crusaders. Jotaro vs Dio is legendary, for example. I do agree in the sense that Part 7 is my favourite part.
edit: heh a lot has changed since then. Part 8 is my favourite arc and I think JoJo became a masterpiece in Part 4 and not part 3.
For me jojo just has an "it" factor that really put it up there as one of my favourites, we can all agree it has its issues but despite those i just get so much enjoyment out of the series.

well stardust had a lot of flaws and it was way too long and jotaro want that great at part three. If it was shorter and focused more on the other crusaders (because only polnaref got character development). I think jojo ascended to a masterpiece at part five

I’m pretty sure after lucy steel stabs funny valentine, he uses d4c to get another version of himself which is why he looks slightly different afterwards and also the reason that we see a glimpse of his stand in that chapter.

There is still a point where even is something is great and amazing where the praise can be a bit much especially when it's overblown consistently and while I don't think it's extremely so. In my opinion SBR is kind of overrated not to say it's bad or lacks in quality or anything of the sort.
Johnny's my favourite protagonist both in design and actual character, his relationship with Gyro is probably my favourite thing in existence, the whole Pocoloco side story was pretty hilarious and this reply is getting off-track.
TL; DR my point is SBR is good but people kinda hold it to God-Like status and starting sentences like this video's title are small examples of it.
We can all agree it's a welcome evolution and we're all glad it exists though

In regards to funny valentines change of appearance, I always assumed it was because he switched with himself in another world and he was just in better shape in that world 😂.
Part 7 is definitely just the peak of all jojo.
Like jojo imo becomes a masterpiece during part 4, but I feel like part 7 is just the masterpiece of the masterpiece that we call jojo
Regarding part 6 you should understand that it was more or less Araki's last part being published directly for the younger audience in shonen jump. So he tried pushing the envelope with it. That's why it can seem kinda edgy or weirder than previous parts regarding the story and how it progressed. Plus Araki was really trying to push buttons to see how far he could add certain elements that weren't common in manga for time part 6 was being published. For example, he was forced to retcon Anasui's gender to male halfway through the part.
The whole araki was forced to change anasui’s gender because of his editors is nothing but a groundless rumor. So please do not continue to spread the rumor

It's been almost two years but to answer your question, I always believed that although he got ripped in the earlier chapters, the most noticeable change in Funny's appearance came when he activated D4C and went to an alternate dimension as he got sandwiched between the floor and the back of the chair. He came out out taller and leaner and better looking
Jojo with not too much bizarreness or at times seems like araki decided to get scientific books since he ran out of things to make it bizarre is best jojo part

In part 7 zepplie was his clear best mentor unlike part 1 where that zepplie wasn't a big influence this also shows the increase in Arakis Brian capacity

Who shot Johnny Joestar is the moment when I realized this part will never be topped. I never reread a arc more than that one from Araki, it never gets boring.
I actually think having two protagonists worked better than trying to put like a 4 party team. Both Gyro and Johnny did what they had to do and they didn't eclipse each other in terms of doing shit, sure Gyro eclipsed Johnny a bit but because he was absolutely fantastic not because Johnny was badly written.
Gyro had the focus on him in the first half and johnny the second half they are equal and that slight eclipse makes sense as stated in the video
Araki decided to change Funny Valentine's appearance, he did it chapter to chapter

The reason why Valentines body changed was because of the corpse parts had entered his body. Don't worry when I was reading part 7 I was also like wtf.

He most likely switched his body with D4C, even though it’s still confusing since it was never explained
araki just said it was an artistic change , so basically he was always buff but i always thought he changed with one of the other valentines
He did switch bodies because initially his footsteps wouldn’t make sounds but then they were. That was the subtle switch that happened.
