It cannot be overstated just how incredibly powerful this weapon/style combo is. To whit - my first successful Bloodbath EX hunt was with a bunch of randoms, me and two others running Valor HBG, and one running a status gun for a "hame" run of sorts - we couldn't use traps because the quest takes place on Ingle Isle - but even then we obliterated that terror in a little over one minute from quest start to quest complete.

Way late on the response, so it's probably not useful to you anymore; but in case other ask the same question: The class modifier is a global modifier just for using a HBG, LBG would have a different lower value (if not just 1; new to MHGU, so can't be more specific). So firing any ammo from a HBG boosts raw damage output by 1.48x. Similarly, all elemental shots inherently reduce raw damage (presumably to compensate for additional element); in this case it multiplies raw by .95 (meaning it does 95% the raw damage it otherwise would've). Further, (to my knowledge) all of these modifiers are multiplicative. So if you wield an HBG, ate for Temper, have activated Gunpowder Infusion and fire an elemental shot: the raw component is multiplied by 1.48*1.05*1.05*1.1 for a final multiplier of 1.79487; which would presumably get rounded (however the game deals with that): so a near 80% bonus raw damage on top of whatever the element from the weapon comes out to. And to those who may know better: feel free to correct whatever's wrong. I'm very new to GU (literally days since I started and only, *maybe* 10-15 hours of play: literally only fought two large monsters but have been reading plentifully and come from World and Rise).

I am trying to understand the differences between valor and adept. Is it just because of the reload speed and how much quicker you are able to reload the HBG that one would go valor instead of adept ? I hope my question makes sense
Aerial style's pretty good for hbg :v not better than valor, but certainly better than adept since the aerial siege fire negates recoil by 100% and the reload gives you blue power bullets. Not to mention the vault automatically reloads your bullets. It also doesn't take away your normal siege fire
i learned more about valor hbg in 10 mins from this vid than i did researching the past few days lol! now i must ask do you have any good economical hunting friendly armor progression tips?

Thank you so much for the info. Started using hbg for the first time. It is super weird to use it since i just started. One question, how do you aim after roll or slide and enter siege mode in valor state cuz when I run away and slide, i press x+a and he starts aiming somewhere else.
I'm just now learning hbg, but I don't understand the aiming and shooting part of it. When I hold R to get the redical on the screen, why then is aiming that redical the right analog stick? It seems VERY clunky to aim with the right stick and shoot with the A button since it's not possible to effectively do both at the same time using your thumb. Is there not a way to aim with the left stick and shoot with A? That feels WAY more natural. Maybe I'm missing something here? 😕

Yes I'm maining the Daora gun. MHGU on the switch. I konw 95 percent of the tricks. The ahtal ka bow claims crouching ammo types that are different than whats available on the bow.
Still new to HBG, so do you automatically reload when you enter Crouch Fire/Siege mode? When you evade out of the last shot, and re-enter siege mode, do you automatically reload then or do you have do something different?

you use valor becuse seige mode deals stupid damage with pierce shots.
It also has good utility and mobility.

What armour/ gun should I work up to? I'm at hr5 and currently use seregios gun with full glavenus armour for recoil down.

Make sure you’re in valor mode before trying to go into siege mode.

theres alot of different options but chain crit, pierce up, shoot booster, crit eye +2 or 3 and crit boost. u need a chain crit +5 000 charm tho.

That's where experience matters most, it is difficult to solo monsters with hbg because they just target you. I recommend the Lbg for solo.
