I love watching all the crazy things the MH speedrunners are pulling off with the arts and styles. Just so much fun to see all the new strats built on the styles and arts system. While I do prefer the simplicity of not having styles in MH4U, I still played Gen and loved it. Yeah, the styles might make the game easier than previous installments, but it's still fun for me. Regardless, amazing run!
See now this is how I could imagine people hunting monsters like this in a more *realistic* (for the MonHun world anyway) fashion- focusing on just not being where the bloody monster is and blasting the crap out of it with heavy cannons XD
It still is, the movement for HBG is much slower than LBG. The evading run (locked to 2 styles out of 6) is a run that is faster than a regular sprint, but you can't shoot at all.

Man I wish modern monster hunter hbg had that much punch to each shot like this does. Sure you can fire a lot but nothing feels substantial and there is no weight to shots besides something like sticky but there is a delay.
For real. HBG should be my favorite weapon in concept, but without Siege, Valor or Screenshake within critical distance it just feels hollow. Which SUCKS because I hate gunning on the switch, so it's this dumb balancing act between the controls of world or the fun of GU -_-
You can but i don't recommend it for a first try, judging by your question is probably your first run against a Lao and you never played MHFU so i suggest you to use a melee weapon and hit the belly,or if you really want to use a ranged weapon,use bow and hit the back weak point (look at Canta's video about Lao for more info) because i think you still need heroism to kill it with limited ammo and in a decent time

Nice run, but I've always wondered about something you do when using HBG... why do you never unload the full clip on the monster before exiting crouch fire? You always leave 1-2 shots in there and just go back in crouch right after :/
Pretty sure all shots have exactly the same MV though, at least up until 3U that definitely was the case, did they change it? And I haven't really noticed the bad recovery... I only play HBG occasionally but unless you try to shoot without bullets there's no delay
@@prawn1717 It's fine and I got that by now after testing myself:p Just hadn't bothered with Brave HBG yet at the time (was messing around with Brave LBG+Seregios-like skill for the triple firing backstep reload gimmick (super fun if you don't care about DPS too much).

Impressive stuff but... why?? Capcom needs to beef up their monster's HP and resistance. This just makes monster hunter a joke... Quest giver: "Oh look, you have to hunt a massive, powerful and dangerous monster!!" Hunter: "sure... hold my beer and give me 3 minutes" The fights in one punch man last longer. I bought gen and got to high rank nakarkos in less than a day... wow such fun

Gore Magala is an Elder Dragon
The 90th hunter Gore Magala is classified as an "???". While when it becomes a Shagaru Magala, it's classified as an Elder Dragon.

I take more time for a G rank Basarios with almost the same set (Critical Eye +3, Shot Booster, Pierce Up, Weakness Exploit, Critical Boost).
Basarios has worse shotzones than Gore Magala does, making it slightly more defensive

You can hold the button though, I dont think its slower considering that combining large number of bullets need more taps on the touch screen for 3ds.

I don't know for sure, but it could be a Brave style thing? The styles have made all sorts of wonky changes, so that doesn't seem too unlikely.
Uh...I'm 4 years late but it's because if you fire the final bullet you get some huge recoil. It's more efficient to just reposition.
