I'm 28, make $100k/yr, have $67k of debt ($25k car note to Dad, $17k student loans, so only $25k of personal loan/CC debt) and I blow my paycheck every week gambling and have done so since late 2020.
I have no self-control, I have a 530 credit score because of it, it's ruined my fucking life. I can't tell you how many times I went from a few hundred $ to tens of thousands and blown it all away.
It's never enough, I never though I'd be addicted to something so bad, it's worse than drugs because of how easy it is to hide/pretend like everything's fine but I legit am unable to buy gas and food because of this shit. So tired of it.

Do you have a family member that you can trust to control your financials?
What saved me was having my Mom control my financials for a year. I had my income deposited directly into her account and she budgeted all my money. It allowed me to stay away from gambling during urges and the budgeting really helped with debt and saving money. It was an absolute life saver. Couldn't have done it without her. I would have relasped.
I know it seems like a long daunting road ahead, but you would be suprized how quickly you can get your life inorder with the right plan and desire. I wish you the best!

The only positive thing I can tell you is that you are young and there's still time to recover - don't end up like me - 67, debt, no house, very little savings because of gambling (I estimate $500k in 25 years). I'm truly fucked. I've had several addictions (booze, coke etc) but gambling BY FAR is the worse addiction. Unless you get a handle on it will totally destroy you - and that's not a wager - it's a sure thing!

@@suad01thats optimistic and encouraging but thats not how the disease works. Its a disease of never being satisfied, and thinking you have the ability to get lucky on your terms.

I gambled for eight years. I went to the casino almost every day because I lived right across the street from one. I liked the casino and the machines, the noise, the atmosphere, then Covid hit, and the casinos were closed . I learned I could live without the casino and I was better off not putting my money in those slot machines. So after Covid, I went back to the casino and I hated it if I lost money, I was just plain angry. I didn’t want to chase my losses anymore, so that ended that and now I keep my money and I’m not broke anymore. I have a whole different outlook.

I found that strange that when you are in casino and win, your money suddenly becomes monopoly money and has no value at the time. Until of course you leave the casino and realize you just lost 500 which is a full day of work.

Very true, when I’m there it’s amazing how the money I won has no value, but when you leave and think, wow I could have used that to pay my energy bill, or could have bought my daughter or son something, or could have had a nice dinner somewhere or even a vacation. It’s really sickening!

I remember the first time i ever gambled i was playing Ultimate Texas Holdem and i won $70 in 45 minutes. Which is really nothing, but i remember thinking WOW i just made almost $90 an hour !!!!! Crazy!! I played for a bit longer and left up like $135 after a little over an hour.
Fast forward 2 years and I'm up from a $500 blackjack buy-in to almost $5500 AND IT WASN'T ENOUGH. Kept playing and chasing and chasing. If i can turn $500 into 5500 i can turn this 5500 into 20 grand! Maybe 50 grand! Yeah right. Gave every single chip back that day and drove home with nothing.

    • @qwertyuiop3656

Stay away from gambling. The earlier you stop the easier. The longer you gamble the more you dig yourself into a hole. Eventually, you just gamble out of pure desperation, bc you're so far in debt and behind in life that you don't believe there's any other way. Suicide is extremely high with gambling addicts

Bro run for your fucking life. If you want a rush, invest in your own business, save that money and invest. Gambling is for fucking suckers and its just setting your dough on fire, I speak from experience.

The more you gamble, the more time and money you loss." Remember that the house always wins."

My advice is to quit now, because if you’re a gambler, you’re broke. There is no way to win. I gambled for eight years, slot machines. I went to the casino almost every day, and I know for a fact you can’t win you may get some wins here and there, but if you’re a gambler, you’re gonna take that money back and you’re gonna lose it.

interesting to read the comments.... players blaming gambling for ruining their lives. Like all addictions, it is a choice....but not something addicts want to hear. They dont' want to be held accountable for their actions. Find another, positive way to get the adrenaline rush... like surfing, running, biking, body-building, etc.
