    That motorized overhead plug door design was also on the infamous McDonnell/Douglas DC-10 (which MD merged with Boeing) and its trijet competitor the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar.

    What if there's an emergency and both Hydraulic and electronics fail? These doors has to be operated manually.

      These doors use a counterbalance to reduce the effort to raise the door similar to how garage doors work. So you just unlatch the door and disconnect the drive and you can freely move the door up and down.

    It's really slow. I think that it needs to be much faster for evacuation

      @singingbeaker 2 года назад +8

      Actually if you try to open the door when armed (emergency evac), it does burst upwards with speed to the open position. Otherwise the FAA wouldn't approve this door design.

      An aircraft door is armed at all times of aircraft operation except loading and unloading passengers. If one attempts to open an armed door, it would deploy the evacuation slide.

    I feel like the 767 door is the weirdest door ever

      It’s stupid in my opinion. They should’ve just stayed with the normal door styles. I mean look at the 777, it has the traditional outward opening door.

      L-1011 and DC-10 had these types of doors too

    Only the 1L dor is electric on the B767 according to a video I saw earlier. Is that right?

    it is impossible using lightly force to push the handle down when latching or closing door

    Why automatic doors discontinued from airliners? IIRC, even 787 doesn't have automatic doors.

      @@sonacphotos An emergency release lever would pretty much fix that

      @@Kc5f The door is on a cable with a spring loaded pulley (that’s why it kind of popped up when he pulled the handle), it’s not hard to lift it manually. The real question is why add a bunch of motorized components just to save a tiny bit of effort.

      @@carlosvelasquezemergenciay6011 no they can easily make it faster, just needs a more powerful motor, they have the power available
